I guess people are scared of helping me find out if Digit is safe because it could turn out she's not, and then I'd just be at the worst part of my life sooner, and not get any more time enjoying thinking she might be alive.
Plus, I don't hide how I'll treat everyone around me worse if she's gone.
I bet the old Digit from when we were friends wouldn't even want to help me now.

I hate the world too much to simply work on making it a better place like Aaron Swartz.
My work is trying to benefit me, and as long as Digit might be alive, I benefit from giving the world a chance to get better.
But as long as she might be dead, I don't benefit from making it better. Giving a chance is one thing, making it better is another. If she's committed suicide, I have to make sure everyone else can commit population-level suicide.
Not help people escape it without her.
It's hard to plan and execute with these conflicting goals, trying to make sure everything I do leaves paths open for the future.
It's slowly killing me. I never know if there are any better days ahead.

It's been years, and I still haven't gotten any serious help finding out if Digit is safe, or made any progress. Nobody is really interested in helping, or even understanding what happened when she was still online, or even joining nostr so I could have continued interactions with enough people for enough time for them to start caring.
I have to remind everyone around me, if Digit is gone, you can't trust me as a friend. The only thing making me care if we live or die is that I believe she might be alive. If she's gone, I hate you and me for failing her, and I will always care less and less whether you live or die.

I guess the major exception to the death sentence never being valid when there's enough food, water, etc., is if the crime involved killing people when there wasn't enough food.
If you're doing shit you deserve to die for right now while there's not enough food, but you make sure it's other people instead of you dying, and nobody is able to catch you or stop you until there's enough food for everyone - you should still probably be killed for what you did when there wasn't enough food.
Trump doesn't suddenly upgrade from "deserves to die" to "deserves to spend the rest of his life in prison safely" just because he kills enough other people, and not himself, to still be alive when we get out of global famine.
Other than that, don't really see a situation where a "death sentence" in a world with enough food+water+etc is anything but a special murder method only for retards to use.

It's hard for the authorities in Maine to get me to say they all deserve to be killed after they gave me a safe place to go when I had to leave NY.
But it seems like their "legalized cannabis" industry is designed to poison people. They caught "medical" retailers poisoning people and did basically nothing about it, while the "medical" places are held to LOWER standards than the "recreational" places. Yes, I typed that correctly, LOWER, not the fucking other way around.
And the "recreational" places aren't good either. They seem to give all the cannabis business licenses to crackheads instead of potheads, and then give them extra funding to do shit like poison edibles, adding shit like "red dye number 40" and "natural flavors (but we won't tell you what ones)" to the ingredient lists.
If you avoid edibles and stick with pure flower, "recreational" doesn't have the same proven safety issues as "medical," but it probably just has the same safety issues as unproven issues instead of proven.
This would be life-in-prison level crime if we had enough food for everyone on Earth, but we don't, so these people probably deserve to die.

Thought about the storytelling one more -
If it turns out Digit is alive, it will be a kinda good thing I enjoyed storytelling, as long as I wrote stories that were worthy tributes to her.

Meanwhile I'm basically stuck on Primal because my phone's nos2x-fox install broke itself with an unwanted update and I'm away from my laptop for a few days.
Someone that isn't as security aware as me would say "just use something else," but it's easily possible that the point of shit like breaking nos2x-fox is to introduce a security risk through whatever "else" I would be predicted to use next.
For example, if I simply installed Amethyst, it would be predictable and would dilute the "pool of accountability" for apps on my phone. For example, Amethyst could have a new exploit that does something to me that's safer to do with more apps to blend in with, something I'd easily pinpoint to the culprit if there was only one nostr client on my phone.
Unlikely theory, but significant, and when you add all the possible "for example" theories instead of just the one example I can fit in a humanly typed reply, it's just reckless to let devs push you around following predictable patterns in response to their bullshit.

Figured out it's probably broken so I actually have to not use it. Injured it a few weeks back, thought it healed, guess it was a fracture and came back worse when I used my hand too much for one day. Removed unfinished changes and skipped some tests to get VideoStore 0.0.3 "done." Got back some of my lost time by skipping tests, but this feels like a stupid way to get back lost time. Moving on for now
