If even one character of the note is changed, the signature fails. If someone forges a note without your key, the signature fails. The relay can't fake it, a hacker can't fake it, nobody can fake it. So the proof of authorship isn't irrelevant, it's the whole point. It's how you get a platform where you don't have to hope the company behaves, because the cryptography makes misbehavior detectable.
