Podcast subscriptions in Vega are now linked with your nostr account.
Would anyone with a MacOS be willing to test if Vega is working ok on Mac please?
I unfortunately can't test it since I don't own an Apple computer.
I'd be interested to also hear if there's any problems on any of the Linux distros.
All I could do is test Windows versions and Arch which I use, btw ;)

but the point is that it is both. Like dollar and pound used to be. Even if Blackrock and Saylor hold a lot of it, I still don't get how this makes it any worse for those of us who acualyl hold our keys, run our own Core servers and like me also run an Alby hub or two. It might get somewhat centralized but if we do our thing as we should I just don't see a serious problem with the digital gold narrative or with Sailor.
I get you though but I just don't see it as real problem - looking from afar. What I mean by this, is that what Sailor is doing is imho just a minor thing of what is actually coming down the pipe if Bitcoin actually gets adopted by normies out there. Think about all the state actors, some of which will be definetely intent (if we only look down the futre long enough) on destruction and/or manipulation on such a high order this will look like peanuts in comparison.
What worries me is that if we think Bitcoin (or us - the comunity- for that matter) can't handle this, then I'm seriously afraid we're not even remotely prepared for what's coming. And it will come. And it won't be easy to just point to a guy then because it will be coming from all sides nonstop. What we have now... is so small.... sooooo incredibly small compared to what's coming.
Because look... with Sailor... we have a US citizen doing US cotizen things on the open and we already hav ea problem. Think how it will be when 1000s of Sailors coming from places like Pakistan or North Korea or Iran or some othe completely untouchable place (for us) that doesn't give one little piece of shit about what we think or how we feel about it.... That's where I see a real test coming.
I think we better prepare for it and do so with our proven work. We'll have to do our part. We'll have to run competions on how many servers we have in completely different places. Encourage people to do the same... Something... Anything... but just dooming our way furhter.
At least that's how I see it...
I see no reason to think that this will get better in any way otherwise.

Because if that is not true, then Bitcoin isn't what we're saying it is. What i mean by this is: we're claiming we're all about adoption, but when you think about money historically, this is just earliest form of what adoption actually looks like! I mean let's think through what just dollar was through by now! Counterfeiting, state actors attacking it mercilessly for a 100 years, various speculations and everything else and it's still here. And we're shitting on it from everywhere because we supposedly have the sound money. And then somebody does the slightest move from what we think should be used for, we're all panicking!
Either Bitcoin is truly sound money that can resist attacks or we're just all delusional cultists.
I say the first part is true. If it is, what Sailor is doing is nothing from what will be happening 50 years down the line if Bitcoin is actually going mainstream adoption.
And if we can't really stomach that, then we don't really believe in adoption and we were all just big mouths when it felt 'safe' while in fact just wanting for bitcoin to always remain on the fringes.
All I'm saying is either we're dealing with the one or the other.
I am grateful to all of you responding though. Please don't feel like I'm attacking anyone because that is really not my intent. I just want some clarity of what we actually want as a community

An interesting statistics:
For every Jew in the world, there's 130 Muslims.

but I don't believe in almost any of the drivel. My method is really simple though: I just look at incentives and I try to understand the science as whole, and not some small exception here and there which is supposedly proving things completely differently.
Why? Because I've seen the drivel that comes from focusing on single points and then 'explaining' everything else based upon it - even though other evidence dismisses it.
I think we have lost common sense in the sense that we look at one tree and claim it is the forest. I see this pattern everywhere I turn. Most things can be explained by simply using incentives as a vector pointing towards the truth.
Let me give you an example:
Remember Elon's supposed Hitler salute?
I do. I remember how bonkers everyone went and how 100% convicted a lot of them were that he indeed did a Hitler salute.
And I remember me posing a single question to a bunch of them:
Ok. Let's say you're right. Why? Why did he do it?
What profit would he have from doing this Hitler salute in front of cameras, knowing that the whole wide world would immediately attack him, people would run campaigns against him and his companies would suffer as a result?
Why would he, even if he was some kind of secret nazi, do this?
I never got an answer to this simple question. Not one. Everyone 'answered' by giving me innuendos, suppositions, some pointing out what he said someplace else which like totally proves and so on and on and on.
What is more likely, that his 'secret' nazism had to be 'proved' on a world stage for some unknown imaginary reason OR... that he's simply sometimes socially awkward weird genious guy?
I'd say this last option .. overwhelmingly puts the first one behind.
But... you see.. people still want to believe they're right. And they will seek ANY tree they can find to 'prove' that the whole forest is that tree. This simple act costed his company billions and this simple act costed him socially A LOT! I conclude.. there was absolutely no incentives for him to do it so... when he did it, he didn't even remotely see as anything to do with nacism - even though it looked so from our eyes. This exact thing happened to me today when somebody claimed my symbol here was 'nazi symbol' and therefore I was a nazi myself. And as soon as he said it.. I looked at the symbol.. and I saw the similarities that I never once before thought about. Not once! And as soon as I saw it, it ruined it for me - I had to remove it!
Now to make things even more disgusting: the symbol I was using was actually a symbol known for 1000s of years (and no, not swastika! I would understand if it was that), the same symbol drawn differently existed from Pythagoras, appeared in DaVinci's famous drawing and was one of the main symbols of the Renaissance. But... as soon as the lunatic revolutionary guy pointed at it and saw a nazi symbol, I saw it now as well! It looked similar to one of those symbols on WW2 tanks! But in reality .. it was a famous Square and Circle symbol of unification of Man and God.
See how horrible that actually is?
From the most holy symbol... right into the dirt with nazis... with one click!
And I bet that if I ask the guy now, he would still think I'm actually a nazi! It's now fixed in his mind.. He doesn't know history, but he learned about 20th century nazi symbolism and because he's probably a revolutionary he sees those everywhere.
So I had to remove it from my profile. The funny thing is.. I will now have to replace it with something else and I'll have to be careful not to make the same innocent mistake again. I'll have to intentionally dumb it down so I won't be seen as a fcking Nazi by ignorant millennials online! Nevermind by grandfather fight the actual nazis .. all that doesn't matter. What matters is the guy saw 'similarities' and that was proof enough for him.
And you know what really hit me here more than this? The realisation, that if there's one such guy, there's probably a lot more who just didn't say anything! They simply assumed I was a nazi because their who symbolic imagery in the head is from fcking Hollywood movies and nowhere else! It's fucking sad, man! It's really really sad!
But it is a good example of my point here is with the tree and the forest isn't it?
I could just call him MSM shill for it, but I bet he hates the media too and thinks media is idk.. 'nazi' or something. Once you start focusing on something, everything else starts to look like it and nobody, least me, will ever convince that guy he's not just utterly wrong, but he did himself a great disservice by destroying what could have been a glorious symbol of perfection, of union with God, of Samadhi, of Nirvana, of Heaven or of accomplishing every human's ultimate goal - self-realisation .. into the most disgusting thing ever.
Now that my friend.. is a real psyop: that we do this to ourselves! Completely on our own. And I can't even blame those Hollywood movies for it - it's the ignorance on one hand and the 100% sureness in the other that made this happen to him.
And in effect to me now - for I'll now have to change everything to look 'appropriate' to the sensibilities of a 2020s ignorant chil's mind. Otherwise.. I'm just a 'nazi'...

I just realized there's people out there who think my symbol, that is Square and Circle is 'neonazi' ...

We really have fallen so far down with very basic understanding of human history and phylosophy :(
I, like a total idiot, never even remotely thought somebody would connect these two symbols... But if it's one who so nonchalantly just called it a nazi symbol, I bet there's others...

SO before I change it, for people out there.. with a bit of brain cells left... who are still willing to learn a thing or two and not just react like a mindless trigger-warning machine, this is what the meaning of my symbol actually stands for:
The Circle Squared is a symbol of human attempt towards perfection. It's an old alchemical symbol, you can see it in Pythagora's PI ffs! That is the point of PI - it is a 'holy' number because it 'unites' the supposedly nu-unitable: the Square and the Circle!
You see in those times math wasn't separated from philosophy - math WAS philosophy because math was explaining our existance, our world, our connection to the Inner self - aka Creator aka 'God' if you want.
And that is what those symbols rtepresent: Circle is universe around us - because it's 'infinite' ever extending in 'circle'. The Square represnts the human. Why? Because it has 4 corners, that is 4 parts. And those 4 corners represent the 4 Elements from which everything is made from. They are now atomic elements, they are 'elements' in the more sensual sense. From the gross matter to the most spiritual one they go as: Earth (the gross matter), Air (the mind, the rationality), Water (emotions, fluidity) and finally Fire (which burns in highest spirtual sense). These 4 elements, this human of 4 elements is represented by the Square. And the state of perfection, a union with God, is the moment when the whole human (Square) is united with the universe ( Circle ) - Circle Squared.
Get it?
It's a profound deep symbol of final unification. It's what is called by different names as: Samadhi, Nirvana, Union with God, Union with Daemon, the Supreme Sphere.
In popular fiction you could just call it the transcendent state of 'Heaven'.
*THAT* is Circle Squared.
The symbol of human perfection - for each and everyone of us! The symbol serves as a direction, path towards meaning - the ultimate meaning we all seek for.

If you search around, you'll find books that deal with just this subject throughout history and you will even find different representations of the same symbol in very diffirent cultures around the world. Why? Because that is one thing that unites us all!

It's the most disgusting thing you can do to somebody. Because we all know what 'nazis' represent. We all know what meaning that has for the crowds out there. We know the power that the word has. And we just called the most universal symbol of humankind one of the worst things imaginable.

so... my computer running bitcoin core + alby hub on umbrel .. has died.
Ttotally dead.
Of course I didn't have a backup because I started using it more as a learning tool... and then later forgot about the necessities.
It's not that I lost a lot of sats - i do have keys and might bring it to life one day, but in the meantime... I had to go and buy myslef alby on the cloud and a completely new wallet. And yes... my nostr accot was linked to it.
I feel stupid.

Wow! See that work I can respect! What I have found is that people seem to have lately completely forgotten that 'flawed' doesn't equate with "we should get rid of it because its not perfect". Perfection is the enemy of results. We aren't perfect yet we like to live. Should we just die ? Capitalism really is bad, but it is by far the best system ever invented and by far the most close to actually mirror the human nature. And that is incredibly important because it means that it is a rare universal system tht almost anyone (including those who yap about how bad it is and earn their money this way - see schampagne socialists on Youtube and Twitch) can operate under. This isn't true for anyother system. Everything else is at best working localy, or is dependent on skin color or religion or even a fcking caste you're born into!
So go.. fly that flag of freedom and don't you dare acepting idiots who tell youyou should be ashamed of it. They are ignorant fools whom, if they ever get power, will destroy everything including things they love - they just don't know it yet.

I don't understand why Americans keep avoiding jury duty.. It's what makes your world free ffs! We don't have that here in that form. You guys have something precious and you don't even care... One would be tempted to say you guys are ... priveliged (being Americans) to such a degree you don't even realize what's in front of you and that it is rare and can be very temporary. No wonder so many now literally squeek about makin socialism a thing there - because you never fucking expirenced it and can just fanatasize the uttmost idiotic ideals in your heads without actually expirencing the conseqences of it. What worries me is that these games you guys like to LARP with will one day reach the numbers of ignorants high enough that you can actually get what those ignorants desire... And by then.. it's too late. It usually takes about next 50 years to get rid of it - which in practie means a lifetime. I know because my parents lived half of their lives in it and I was forced to dabble in it in my Jugoslavian childhood. It of course ended in civil war. As usual. But before that a lifetime of a whole generation was stolen from them - because it was fun LARPing about stupid ideals and revolutions in people's heads.
I can't speak for you guys, but if I were you, I'd make damn sure that it never comes to that and I'd actually teach my children about the realities and experences in commy times. Not the bullshit story that keeps appearing on TV from various stunningly ignorant activists these days.
In short: Enjoy your freedoms and be aware it is temporary if you don't make damn sure that it stays that way. Jury duty is not just a right - it guarantees you a stunning amount of freedom compared to the rest of the world.

One of the strangest things I didn't count on when I started developing Vega was how much I uncousously adopted Hyprland's paradigm of doing things on desktop through my Omarchy use. For some reason it never dawned on me that this might actually be a problem since most people have never even seen much less regularly used tiling windows manager... And so... I found myself in need of not just simply developing and testing it on my Omarchy linux but developing it on Omarchy and then testing it on Windows and some other non-tiling wm Linux.
Because so many things one takes for granted just don't always play nice ...
So.. I would be cracking my head about why deep down in threads notes become so incredibly small in horizontal size and then it dawns on me that I have been using Vega by default on only half my screen :) Of course I did, because in the other half Ive been developing it!And like an idiot I believed this to be a general expirence of a user! :) So.. I go on Windows... and there's no problem.... because a fucking window was large and in the center :)

See the brain..... just didn't seem to click the obvious because it was just how I was doin g things for months before .. so it became a habit and habits.. they make themselves sometimes invisible - because they're habits! :)
Anyway... the solutio is of course obvious: you click super + shift + [free workspace number] or simply just SUPER + T and you can read even text deep down the thread. Once finished you just click SUPER +T again and youhave the usual tiling in the middle of the screen and a trusty Vega returs to the it's rightous right side.
And all is well with world again :)

Also..by extension every single human being should not have the right to live since we all live on history of those before us who killed others to survive. There's not a single human being living today that has their hands clean if we suddenly start pointing to their history as their own original sins.
Also.. property rights have pretty much zero to do with rules based international order. They exist in certain countries that decided to recognise them. The day has finally arrived.
The working title of my nostr desktop client 'wrystr' is no more.
The new official name of the application is now Vega, a nod to a Slovenian mathematician baron Jurij Vega (1754 – 1802).
He was also a physicist and an artillery commissioned officer.
His book Tentamen philosophicum covers problems that include topics in logic, algebra, metaphysics, geometry, trigonometry, geodesy, stereometry, the geometry of curves, ballistics, and general physics.
Vega participated in several military campaigns. In 1788, he served under Austrian Imperial Field Marshal Ernst Gideon von Laudon (1717–1790) in a campaign against the Ottoman Empire at Belgrade. His command of several mortar batteries significantly contributed to the fall of the Belgrade fortress.
Between 1793 and 1797, he fought against French Revolutionary forces under the command of Austrian General Dagobert-Sigismond de Wurmser (1724–1797) as part of the European coalition allied with Austria. Vega participated in battles at Fort Louis, Mannheim, Mainz, Wiesbaden, Kehl, and Diez.
In 1795, he designed two 30-pound (14 kg) mortars with conically drilled bases and larger charges, increasing their firing range to up to 3,000 metres (3,300 yards). By comparison, the older 60-pound (27 kg) mortars had a range of only 1,800 metres (2,000 yards).
Vega also published a series of books containing logarithmic tables. The first volume appeared in 1783. Much later, in 1797, it was followed by a second volume that included a collection of integrals and other useful formulae. His Handbook, originally published in 1793, was later translated into several languages and issued in over 100 editions.

I believed so as well for the first 5-10 years. Later, as I got older I realised it's in most cases just a mixture of ignorance, fear and uncertenty. Give you an example: when I first started experimenting I was still living in communist Jugoslavia and the attitude towards drugs was extremly negative because nobody and I mean nobody in authority had *any* idea that they actually functions very differently. They though heroin is the same as grass. It was complete ignorance and fear. Later when we transitioned to a half decent capitalist country and the politicians werem't just all drunk old Partizans from WW2 anymore the laws changed for the better and sentencings became much lighter and more sane. They started differentiationg between hard drugs and soft drugs like grass. Also the atitude of population changed dramatically over the last 15 years. Think about the fact tthat just 15 years ago there was zero legalisation progression in places like USA and that after 2 generations fighting for it for like 50 years prior. The reason wasn't 'racism' or even 'oil companies' as I was told repeatedly for years, but simply ignorance and fear. When you have just one word ( 'drug' ) for the whole set of completely different chemicals it's no wonder that people who don't experiment witht them to just imagine them all as 'bad' on the level of heroin or meth. What they see is a junkie on the street bothering them or worse. And they hear horrible stories which are also mostly true. When drugs come to town, the town usually goes to shits because 'drugs' in reality doesn't mean MDMA or LSD or psylocybine (I could go on ;) ) but 'meth' or 'heroin'. It's what people can see with their eyes.
What we should actually do if we want to make this right is to use different words for different types of substances. In the 60's 'psychadelics' was used and then mostly forgotten in the 80's. But in the 90's a better, more precise, word became popular: 'entheogens'. It's a perfect word for the type we're discussing here. If we used such clasifications regularly people outside of experimental circles would start to differentiate between them as well and from there it's an easy step to sane legalisation laws.

I can relate - on a smaller scale. I'm trying to fix what I see as a hole in desktop nostr, something I've been personally missing since I don't like to have my phone on all the time.
I want something that I can use for actual daily reading of articles and regular article posting, while also having other basic stuff implemented (like a connected wallet or background podcast playing) so I don't have to keepconstantly switching here and there and everywhere for them. I need basic zaping, basic podcast playing and fast swiotching between notes and thread-views and half the stuff is done already.
If one day I manage to also fix so I on't have to keepseeing obvioius "America bad m'kay" propaganda then I'll be a happy camper. Everything after that.... will just be a happiness bonus :)

Shit you guys... I've been working like mad on wrystr and shipping almost daily builds... Unfortnately... when I first stzarted developing I wa bumping version by second decimal... so v0.1.0 ->0.2.0 and so on. I came to my senses too late in the game and started using the last digit 0.9.0->0.9.1 and so on.. and now... I'm pushing out 0.9.9 :)
Fck...
I wanted to do more of these before officially calling it a 1.0.0, but it looks like I've run out of options... Or Il have to change versioning now?

But I think we have a serious dead internet problem on our hand here as well. The number of bot accounts or just plain propaganda accounts trying to manufacture consent by making us feel like normal opinions are abnormal is staggeringly high. So maybe proof work solutions are really the only way we lessen the influence of nefarious actors among our midst

oh man.. If you haven't tried LSD yet and MDMA was so profound for you, you'll be getting one deep ride there! Just be sure to have good conditions around - it is a must there and can make a difference between a truly spiritual experience you'll never forget in your entire life vs horrible chaotic mind-frenzy of the worst kind. In my case it was so profound I kept doing it every month for years, doing everything from meditation and pranayama techniques (because you 'get' the actual effects in real-time - if you have basic foundations covered of course...) to every possible raja yoga practice. It works incredibly well when you start understanding how it actually works. My wildest experiences were in natural caves or top of the hills during night-time, with very limited number of friends who were also well versed in it. IMHO it's by far the greatest drug ever conceived but also unfortunately, not for everyone (especially nowadays that so many have psychological problems). It's not a 'good-feel' drug, though it can feel great sometimes. It's more a sort of experiential soul-searching tool that can allow you to see the deepest hells and highest havens hidden in the core of what old Egyptians called 'our star' (the center of our being/soul that can for the lack of better words only be described as 'holy'). I could go on and on about this one for months, so let me just say this: unimaginable unforgettable true experience that, if properly handled allows humans to truly meet themselves.
One final note: the trip is long and should be taken as such by default, because that time is needed for us to absorb everything and then slowly... sloooowly come down to earth. Don't take downers to 'come-down' if at all possible. Go through it instead even if it might not feel always 'nice'. And don't fall for the idea that you can't fall asleep or something. Use that time instead because it's fucking precious. And once more.. don't do it just by the way. That is by far the most important - be prepared and have a lot of time at your disposal. You don't want finding yourself looking at a watch or something because it will fuck you up if you do.

Ok.. I believe I have solved the problem when user needs to set wrystr to extremely large fonts. The top badges all stay in their places, the bottom left user's badge is there and the resizing of the application window works nicely.
The funny thing is, I missed this problem entirely because I tested the large fonts only on Omarchy at the beginning. Like an idiot I didn't connect in my head the fact that Omarchy's window manager (Hyprland) just can't have this particular resizing problem !

one of the few sane takes I've seen recently on social media. I'm gonna add why I think the BRICS (because it's always not being just Russia, but Iran and China as well) propaganda works so well: It's really simple: the bots are exploiting our significantly higher free speech while clamping down on their own criticism within those countries. It's really easy to do this when you can stop your own citizens from criticizing. I remember this from Communist Yugoslavia and I've been trying to explain people how obvious it is and practically nobody understands that they are tapdancing for the exact enemy that wants to destroy them. Look how nice and clean Moscow looks! Well.. so did fucking Belgrade in Yugoslavia and so is Pyongyang in North Korea ffs! All the big cites have always been monuments to dictators. "Look how united are Russians!" screams a Western man not knowing a Russian can't say much else but to praise the government. Everyone else is locked up already. This is btw why we have Westerners demonstrating with fcking pictures of a dead Iranian dictator who just a month ago killed 35000 of their own citizens, while Iranians are literally DJing on the roofs of their houses while the bombs and rockets are crashing IRGC. They get it. We don't. We can't understand the difference between the 'one-opinion state' (aka only one opinion allowed) and what we have here. Here we have whole media centres operating exclusively for propaganda of non-western bullshittery. And it doesn't even matter what kind as long as it sees the West as 'evil'. When I realized this to be an actual fact I decided for myself that I'm gonna become a radically self-interested person, by which I mean I'm gonna err on the side of Western ideals because, well.. I'm fucking living here! It really is that obvious once you read through all the mud that is being thrown at you daily

In my Linux and Windows testing I found that the search not being of sufficient quality was what bothered me the most in wrystr.
So later today I'm gonna push out huge improvements to it.
I also finally added 'followings' to the application and that will be out in the next release as well.
After that I'm gonna start polishing the article writing and the general feel for writing longer notes - even in threading view.
I'd be interested in suggestions as well because for sure I am missing something obvious

Wow! Thank you! That means a lot!
More polishing is coming down the line soon.
For now I've been building it on Linux and testing it on Linux and on Windows as much as I can (I don't own Mac computers of any kind so I can't do it, but the release is always for Macs as well).
I'm gonna keep posting new updates and soon I'm gonna publish a website with as much newbie onboarding material as I feel fitting (and not too intimidating at the same time). Videos are coming as well when I finally push out the 1.0 beta.
