The simple fact is that the top 1% of society control by far the most expendable capital, and Bitcoin is heavily concentrated in the hands of big holders. Combine that with an almost mystic belief shared by many in the four year cycle, and it becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Cancer existed, possibly to a lesser extent but I’m not an expert on that. Taxes sure, but those also existed to an extent, and can also be ignored to an extent if you really are just growing food/animals, drinking, and heading to church.

At a minimum there needs to be a thorough investigation. I’m talking warrants for devices and multi-hour interrogations. Anyone with a shred of credibility who was involved should cooperate with law enforcement to their fullest ability.

I’m not going to get hung up on any specific words said. We all said a lot of things.
As the “only outside investors” in the business, they have disproportionate accountability for what happened with the company. Especially considering the “don’t trust, verify” ethos. Sad but true.

People who were paid to promote the product or who stood to materially gain from the company or even in the worst case the outcome of the bug should also be investigated.

What I’ve learned over the past five years is that very little good comes from giving anyone financial advice (unless it’s your job).
I recommended Bitcoin like a psycho in 2022. I was unstoppable. Relentless.
Every conversation, every interaction. I bought people books, I sent podcasts, I sent memes, I had long discussions, I helped people set up apps, the whole 9 yards. I started a passion project dedicated to Bitcoin Policy advocacy (bitcoinpolicyvt.com).
Even though most buys from 2022 were up +500% at the top and still are +200% today, almost nobody I know is actually better off. Nobody buys the lows unless they already get it on their own.
Most of my friends who got involved FOMO’d above 60k (average price probably close to 100k now) and some are slightly rekt versus SPY and Gold.
I WAS right, but you don’t get any credit for wins, and you’ll take heat for losses (they think gains are because of THEM, and losses are because of ME).
Moral of the story: worry about yourself. If you like Bitcoin, buy Bitcoin. You can be pro-Bitcoin and use it yourself without wasting time and social capital trying to get people who don’t care or can’t manage the volatility/risks involved.

I’ve yet to see it be reflected in any official reporting or in the sentiment of my own local community. Anecdotally everyone knows some young parents, but even in this framing it’s an outlier case.
And being a parent in it of itself isn’t a “solution” as much as it is a representation that people feel happy, are forming bonds with one another, are thinking about the future, have a positive outlook on life, and want to procreate.
Everyone in Vermont ages 20-35 could start trying to have children tomorrow and the spiritual, political, and economic issues in our community would remain until we replace those ideas with our new ones.

Let me use my state as an example.
Average age goes from 27 to 44 in a few decades. Economic conditions make it harder than ever to get married. Everyone (women especially) is on pills of some kind, whether that be SSRIs, Hormones, or Stimulants.
The religious foundation (perviously ~80% Christian) falls out and everyone turns to new age social progressivism as an outlet for worship. It’s seen as antisocial to have children and is actively discouraged in multiple facets of life.
Then, realizing that our population is teetering on collapse and the boomer quality of life will be effected very shortly, the politicians pivot to this in the 2020s. When combined with incredibly forgiving judicial systems, this leads to unsafe living conditions for residents and certainly no environment for children.
I won’t go any further on my opinions as to why this has happened so many places globally. Vermont in many ways has lagged national trends. But rest assured, every young American man in my generation is seeing this and knows where we stand.

More can be accomplished, I appreciate your perspective.
Our ideas work better as a dichotomy where we have the traditional idea structure as our narrative foil.
There are benefits to Nostr and it is a cool example of Bitcoin as more liquid “digital money”. There are also drawbacks, and being so far removed from common discourse is one of them.
Every Yin needs the Yang, and if we want to succeed, we need to take our ideas and our voices to where people are. I’m a Bitcoin maximalist, I’m not a Nostr puritan.
