💯 Primal is definitely designed perfectly for on-boarding the normies are exiting Twitter. Then you graduate to something more customizable. Wisp looks to be a good replacement for Primal on phone... haven't had to chance to dig in yet.
My overall pick for web UI is Jumble.social. No DM feature, but Amethyst works for that when Primal DMs do not work.

Cool. I'm in zone 4a (145 day typical growing season) here in MN, but people here do really well with strawberries, it's just limited to about 2 short months. Crowns buried well in advance will get June-bearing. Starting runners can be shorter waits, though. Never knew about Alpine ones.

Not sure if this helps, but I have notifications turned off, for new follows.
I also go and find their names and add their "@ handle" into my muted words list. Muting an npub isn't usually sufficient, but adding their tagged name as a word does help eradicate their existence from my feeds and notifications.

Just had 2nd Fool's Spring here! Now it's wintry again, but expected to be melted soon.

I'm always encouraging people to de-Google/de-Apple. I even have a concierge service in which I either source a phone for them or guide them on where to source one, and make sure the seller has the bootloader unlocked, then I set them up with Graphene OS, customize the phone to their needs, then I teach them how to use it. The one pictured is the third one I've done ...it's back at my house so that I could troubleshoot a booting/charging issue.

The phone was caught in a reboot loop, which can happen if you don't have the phone fully charged, let it drain, then try to start it again, but there's not enough power to fully boot the OS, so it keeps retrying to boot before finally failing and refusing to power up. To fix this, I keep the phone's power off, and let it charge for 10-15 minutes.

Then I power it on, and when the boot screen says, "Your device is loading different operating system", I press the power button up where it says "Press power button to pause". This will pause the phone from booting Graphene OS, and will remain paused, and that's when I finish charging the phone (60-90 minutes recommended). I like to do this so the phone can focus fully on charging, and not draining battery while trying to boot OS and apps (and their background data). Once charged to *80%, I press "Resume" to fully boot the OS.
I always recommend charging the phone once it gets to 20% battery power (less than 17% is my danger zone--at that level, I try to not operate it much, just start charging until it's above 20%, in a situation like the above boot-loop).

* Charging to 80% is recommended to retain battery lifespan, although once in a while Graphene OS will charge to 100% which gives accurate battery level reporting since this re-calibrates the battery gauge). The 80% charge limit was a bug that has since resolved in Android 15 QPR2.

Last night's movie was actually a travel vlogger's video about the Scottish Isle of Gigha (or what the Vikings called, 'God’s Isle'), owned by the residents who live there through a heritage trust. Unfortunately, although it is a beautiful area and people, it comes off as slightly communistic, and don't get me started on those wind farms. I still really enjoy this travel vlogger's channel and content.

You both have a point...
Many people who come to nostr just want to be social and for it to turn on and "just work"... not to have to do mental gymnastics or listen to an hour-long podcast to learn to set up which relays for this and for that. I WORK by day in tech (websites/server admin) and still find nostr to have a steep learning curve, making on-boarding something that takes weeks if you don't have time to devote and just want some fun (or doomscrolling, no judgement) at the end of the workday.
On the other hand, there are lesser-known but very nice little nostr forks/experimental clients out there that have options to add or browse suggested relays they might not otherwise know about. https://jumble.social/ does this very nicely.

I read mostly nonfiction because I'm a nerd, or else it's historical fiction or the occasional classic novel or thriller (fiction).
If people want to read something to escape or entertain themselves, who cares? I do it too, sometimes. Heck, I even watch trash reality TV when I want some cheap and easy entertainment. Who the hell am I to judge what people read?
