Prayer request: A junior on my son's highschool footbal teaml had his shoulder dislocated in the 3rd quarter while playing guard and now his leg is swelling with no presently known reason. It happened on the first game, he was first string on a small and inexperienced team. He is a Christian and shows it through his actions. Storing food is an investment, but not the kind you can sell. It's an insurance policy, and the more you store the more will go bad because you stopped eating it. You can't sell old food, so it's not a "store of value". It is just a store of food. Just like buying GPUs for AI is not an "Investment", it is a purchase of privacy.
Answer the question before buying a GPU: "Can I justify this cost to produce a nontangible work with absolute assurance the information has never left my network, or is my security need more of a gradient and can privacy assurances made by the public corporation AI company answerable under the laws of the United States to uphold their contracts and abide by their policies be sufficient security for the work I'm doing?"
The answer is "Yes, I need privacy for some things and a legal recourse is sufficient for other things I do".
The answer is not "I need perfect privacy for everything I do".

Have you ever felt good about accomplishing something you worked hard on? I certainly hope so.

Why did this happen?
When you are cutting a trail in the jungle, you're bound to get scrapes, cuts and tears on your skin and clothes. You have your eyes on the destination, not the thorn on the bush you're pushing out of the way. When you get there, you sit down and tend to your wounds.
Was it worth it? Yes.
You're going to sit down, clean up, relax, and get ready for the next jaunt. Eventually you will have cut your path. You won't have need to do it again. Your Machette is repurposed. New paths will be cut by the next generation.
Could you have prepared better before venturing out? Could you have kept your eye out for the barbs and thorns? Yes.
That is the lesson: when you have your eyes set on a long-term goal, keep in mind on what the consequences are of what you are doing while you're forging your path. The journey is inseparable from the destination.
