Those are all interesting things to explore. I'm in the country and have my own water, but I am dependent upon the local power co-op. I can get a generator (like generac), but then I am dependent on gas supplies. I have plenty of trees but no fireplace. I haven't figured out how to overcome those obstacles or if I need to. My thesis has been that they can't take the power down and still track us. You take the power down to kill us. That seems extreme, and since it creates instability, it endangers them.

It's hard to break out of it. And once you do, it's hard to break others out of it. Either they are so tied to the system because of their debt and their children (college, activities, etc) or they benefit by participating in it. Once they get an MBA they're cooked.

Seems like they're doing it on purpose. I have no doubt that bitcoin is going to fly. They've stacked harder than anyone and they're going to recapitalize on it and anything else they can get their hands on. The easiest way to get the rest of it from us is to let the pump happen, drop capital gains taxes on it and then try to influence where we can spend it. While they hold it tightly, we will spend it over to them unless we embrace whatever the credit system looks like next.

Certainly immoral. But you'd be surprised what districts will write into SPED plans, especially in difficult or contentious situations. Such as a student can retake a test as many times as necessary to receive a passing grade. Parents love that sort of thing because they think the grade is all important.

I will say the mitigating cricumstances aren't surprising. The student isn't typical. She clearly had developmental issues that might be insurmountable. It happens with some percentage of the SPED kids. I imagine that's what the district will argue in court.

I have no plans to add my corn to their pockets. While I think it's true that certain things are centralizing, anyone who thought that wasn't inevitable really wasn't paying attention. I keep reminding people that the much revered Hal Finney speculated that banks would use bitcoin to recapitalize. And that was in 2011 or 2012. They don't want to hear that, but it was always going to happen.

I almost lost my whole stack a few years ago because I stupidly added a password to my hardware wallet and then promptly forgot it. I did remember it later, but it was two hours of trying to figure out how to tell my wife I'd lost everything. But at least that was my fault. I was the idiot to blame. It's been nice being back in a bitcoin buying mode. Ongoing medical issues with my kid has slowed us down this year. You can't always time these things, but bitcoin came down and stayed down for just the right amount of time. It's been a good summer so far on the home front.
And frankly, it's a good feeling keeping my extra money out of the system and away from fiat markets.
