I had the pleasure of a second unboxing of my Daylight Computer today 😁 The original one had a "chrystal leak" issue, where the screen would turn black pixel by pixel from one of the corners, like a spreading ink patch.
I got in touch with the @nprofile…r69k team and they immediately offered a return within the 1-year warranty. From my side, sending it back from Greece became a little ordeal. But it worked out eventually. And the team even reimbursed the extra expenses that came with it. Everything in BTC!!
Now I'm holding a fresh new piece in my hands. I love the attention to detail, the intention, the texture. During the month it was gone I missed:
- reading e-books before sleep
- taking handwritten digital notes
- working in full sunlight
- a screen that doesn't subconsciously stress me out.
Big thanks to Daylight for that smooth process and guiding us into an era where tech becomes more "natural" 🙏🏼

In most cases it's exactly as you say. Then there are those who live frugally and sustainably, but find identity in moralist victimhood. And don't want to go to the core of the environmental issue either. In the end it's a path towards understanding self and with it nature which - granted - is often inconvenient, yet also highly rewarding once you walk it.

I felt the urge to comment on an alarmist climate change post on Instagram. It's never worth it, waste of time.
But, I found the response here interesting. The person (if it's indeed a person) totally relies on and cheers the fact that "climate change denial" comments will be censored.
I didn't even deny anything. It's just so interesting that, as always in the human past, at crucial moments in history, when times are wildly uncertain, people beg to be restricted just to feel a sense of order, to have a sense of belonging, of safety that the world is the way they believe it is.
Until the point when things turn into widespread violence and cruelty. Then the very same people who asked for restriction will eventually cheer for a revolution of 'freedom' from oppressors. Only once it's 'safe' to do so.
There's always somebody or something else to blame or to trust. Real freedom is never there, always misunderstood. Never does it have to do with themselves.
It's so tiring to see these patterns. And so hard to bring us out of it. Because shifts in consciousness can't be explained, the mind doesn't have that kind of power, language falls short. Feeling is understanding. That's why commenting is a waste of time.
You can only be you, act different, go further and deeper, understand yourself, then know even less, be humble, be patient, and enjoy that lovely ride.

Update on publishing short-long form video on Nostr.
You can of course post it in your feed in regular Twitter-like clients.
But if you want to curate a video library and have more of a YouTube experience, then there were two clients: Nostube and Plebs.app.
Plebs.app is no longer working and the domain doesn't exist any longer. Nostube is still alive and well. However, my recent video uploads there still don't play. Someone pointed out that this has to do with a "codec issue". Yes, probably. However, it's a good while later and no fix in sight.
I also don't see Nostube getting themselves known on Nostr, no profile to follow. So, yeah ... it's a bit unfortunate that these promising alternatives don't have the support or courage to carry on.
I heard about DiVine video running on Nostr. But personally, I don't know what to do with 6 second clips, neither for consuming, nor for creating. So, it looks like we are stuck with Twitter clones here for now when it comes to video.

That's correct. It's the pushout of the CO2 that enables the long retention times, and which creates more alcalinity in the bloodstream that helps so much with inflammation. O2 saturation in the blood is already at ~98% even before starting the breathwork. This video is about that you consune less oxygen (and thus store/keep it better automatically) when you are relaxed 😉

Stay relaxed when doing the Wim Hof breathing exercise. This is not a challenge workout.
The more relaxed you are, the more oxygen can be stored in your body. And the longer your retention times can be.
Also here, no competition. The retention times differ from day to day and person to person. Whatever duration you can effortlessly relax in, is the right length for you in that moment.
We want to access deeper areas in our brain that go beyond thought, clear us up from everyday information overload, and make us feel home in our body and mind.
That's a great place to face the world from.

Totally understand your reasoning. If your business doesn't have anything directly to do with Bitcoin, you can't be sustainable Nostr-only.
Few people using Nostr is one thing. But also the infrastructure isn't quite there yet. No reliable/secure DMs. Longer video uploads (+1 minute) rarely work. No profile/channel building possible, just disappearing Twitter-like feeds. This goes for all clients I tried.
While this may certainly take time to develop (does it?), meanwhile for people who don't value the freedom future vision (yet), these are reasons enough for not even trying Nostr.
The zapping is one of the best festures. But again, only if you understood and value Bitcoin already.
So, right now, there's no other way but to diversify. And to some extent that's healthy and keeps us open minded here.
Nostr is one of a kind though and I'm sure and hope we'll continue to see you around 🙏🏼🫂

Bringin released an enormous update of their app and services that's worth checking out, especially if you live in Europe!
I copied the entire newsletter article here. Very interesting stuff that would make it way easier to live on a Bitcoin standard.

"We launched a whole new version of Bringin, and there's genuinely a lot packed into it. I'll unpack the highlights below - but save this email and come back to it when you have time, because each of these is worth a proper look.
I will try to briefly unpack them in this email.
Debit cards - Not like any cards you've used before
1) Bitcoin-backed: The card can now hold a Bitcoin balance. Link your card to it and spend Bitcoin directly at any merchant - they receive euros, no pre-selling needed. Prefer euros? Relink the card to your euro balance and spend euros instead. You can top up the Bitcoin balance on-chain, over Lightning, or via an LN address - from a self-custody wallet or your euro account.
2) Multiple cards, virtual or physical: Create multiple cards, each linked to your euro or Bitcoin balance and relink any of them between the two whenever you like.
3) Zero Forex - Spend euros outside the eurozone at 0% forex, and Bitcoin anywhere in the world at our standard 1% fee. The cards are global, and you can withdraw cash at any ATM in any local currency.
4) Free express delivery (this month only): For the next month, delivery is via DHL Express at no extra cost - you'll have your card 2-3 days from when you order.
Self-custody Wallet - Built for private, reliable payments.
We rebuilt our self-customised wallet from the ground up.
1) Faster and Cheaper - It's as fast and reliable as the custodial wallet you're used to. Self-custody no longer means a worse experience.
2) Google back up - Talking to a lot of bitcoiners, I kept hearing the same thing - nobody wants to manage yet another set of 12 words. I get it. So you can now back up your wallet to Google Drive, and optionally encrypt it with a password. Backup and restore, without the mnemonic headache.
3) Both on-chain and Lightning - The wallet holds larger amounts securely and makes both on-chain and Lightning payments natively - no swap service in between. That makes it reliable for P2P, merchant payments, holding meaningful sums, and topping up your card when you need to.
4) Scan & Pay and Nearby Payments: A dedicated Scan & Pay button on the home screen for Lightning payments. And a new Nearby Payments feature that lets you pay other Bringin users peer-to-peer over Bluetooth, using a mesh protocol - the more Bringin users around, the further a payment can travel.
5) Outside compliance framework: These payments stay private. None of them touch transaction monitoring, KYC, or reporting - it's a pure self-custody wallet for payments.
Lightning Addresses - money address for future payments
You now get a few different Lightning addresses, each doing something specific:
1) {username}[email protected] - receive Bitcoin and keep it in Bitcoin, straight to your self-custody wallet. It accepts as little as 2 sats, so it's perfect for zaps, micropayments, donations, P2P, or just listing on your socials.
2) {username}[email protected] - funds your card balance directly, so you can spend instantly anywhere with your Bitcoin debit card. Hold your Bitcoin in whatever wallet you like and top up the card with a swipe - no lock-in, no need to keep a balance sitting on the card.
3) {username}@bringin.xyz - your existing address, which auto-converts incoming Bitcoin into euros instantly on your personal vIBAN. From there, move it to your bank or spend it on your cards.
4) An LN address straight to your bank - You can now create a Lightning address that drops euros directly into your bank account. Go to the Connect tab, create a Sell Connection, pick your bank, choose Lightning, claim an address (like [email protected]), and confirm with the verification code - done. Every sat sent to that address lands in your bank in seconds.
Over improvement is user expereince!
1) A simpler, more powerful experience: We obsessed over the experience this time - more power, less complexity. - No more orders to move money: Funding euros with Bitcoin, or selling Bitcoin from an external wallet straight to your bank, used to mean creating an order, sending an exact amount, and authenticating with an OTP. That's gone. You now get a static Bitcoin and Lightning address — send any amount, from anywhere, and the euros land in your Bringin vIBAN or bank account with nothing else to do. Every swap executes at market price, you get an email confirmation, and you can track it on your phone and check the full details once it's done.
2) A cleaner layout: Balances right on the home screen, and a separate Bitcoin Swaps section to move Bitcoin between anywhere and anywhere. If you don't need the euro account or the Bitcoin account, you don't have to touch them — all the flexibility, none of the clutter. -
3) Card management 10x better: Viewing card details, managing limits, setting your PIN, viewing and updating your 3D Secure password, handling your physical card — all rebuilt to match the neobank experience you're already used to.
The goal behind all of this is simple: give you the tools to be more sovereign. Take real custody of your funds, buy Bitcoin instantly whenever you want, spend it in the real world, and liquidate larger amounts without the stress. Addresses, vIBAN, cards, wallets - everything you need to actually live with Bitcoin as a parallel currency in this dual-money era.
What's next
A few things we're already working on:
- Third-party payments: so you can replace your bank with Bringin entirely.
- Passkey, biometric, and authenticator-app login - instead of SMS.
- And one more we're keeping under wraps for now - you'll get an update next month.

The firewood proof-of-work in broad daylight. This year's pruning. It may not look like much. But this will carry us through an entire heating season (Dec-May).
It works because our tiny house is well insulated, has big windows facing south, and temperatures in our region don't really go below 0°. But we have crazy winds. The sunlight heats up the house sufficiently during the day and then only in the night we burn a few sticks in the woodstove. That's it.
I get salty when I read about EU regulations for sustainability (!) that try to cancel the use of wood-firing stoves. In the cities it's a different story with that local pollution in densely populated areas. But in the countryside, it doesn't get more sustainable than heating with firewood! If you have an efficient system ... and an olive grove 😁

There are many things I love about off-grid life and living away in pure nature. And this one in particular brings me deep joy: It's the freedom of doing whatever the heck you want at any given time.
Last night, from 22h-24h, I felt it, I just wanted to continue cutting firewood from this year's tree pruning. The moon - a lovely crescent sitting right up there with bright Jupiter or Venus.
I turned on Silverchair's "Diorama" which lyrics I happen to know by hard. And so I was there, red torch light, sawing the wood by hand and singing along wholeheartedly with Daniel Johns. Dogs and cats around me. View on the sea and valley. After that brushing teeth naked on the deck. Nobody cares. You live.
Priceless moments! Life is so rich. Keep your eyes and heart open 🙏🏼

Quick update on using Nostr as YouTube alternative ... recently there's an audio codec issue with my videos both on 'PlebsApp' and on 'Nostube'. On Plebs they don't upload at all and it gives that audio codec error, on Nostube they upload but then can't be played. A little frustrating, since it had worked before.
So, I uploaded my recent one just here in the twitter-like feed and that works fine. But it's just a pity that none of the popular Nostr clients has a kind of profile gallery view where you can pin your 'best' notes 🤷🏼 That'd be a real feature!

An incredible day at the Spartan Yoga Shala! I'm deeply grateful to every participant who showed up with an open mind and courageous heart to explore the Wim Hof Method fundamentals.
Watching people face the ice bath—some managing arthritis, Raynaud's, multiple sclerosis, and other autoimmune challenges—and emerge more powerful, energized, and optimistic is really inspiring. Everybody showed up for themselves with bravery.
The Spartan Yoga Shala is such a warm, welcoming space for breathwork, intention, and cold. The rooftop ice baths with views of the snow-capped Taygetos mountains were the perfect backdrop!
My hope is that everybody carries this practice home with them—not just the techniques, but that feeling of self-empowerment, that knowing that you're capable of more than you thought.

Thanks! What you're saying about the node relay policy makes sense ... that node operators choose the preferred way forward and see which version prevails. That is indeed not coercion, no. And here again I'd wish that people choose freedom. Some may prefer the runes, token path, maybe because they think there's a chance to solve the privacy issue. I'll follow the debate.
You are also right, I don't run a node yet. But I'll soon go about this seriously and will have a closer look at that BIP-110 discussion then.
As to the "ought-to" and "should", as a former environmental lawyer myself and from the experience I gathered, I would like us to be able to live with as little regulation as possible, by educating ourselves to understand freedom at its core ... that means beyond mind and matter. The more we got that down, the less regulation we will need.
So, I don't say lockpicking should be permitted. But if we don't understand freedom and hence don't live in abundance, locks will be picked because it's possible. Inner work + education (root) over laws and regulation (surface) is what I'm saying.

I see your point and principally agree. But Bitcoin currently is built in a way that made room for other use cases and tokens. If this is not supposed to be, why wasn't that window closed forever? My point is that you can't blame people for doing what's possible to do and what they find useful, and then want to reign them in to your vision. May it be the intended one by the all-wise creator or not. It would be a huge pity if Bitcoin failed. But if we humans aren't ready for freedom, then we aren't ready. You can't fight for freedom with violence ... again and again.

It was very foreseeable that the KYC takeover would happen. The intended Bitcoin use will now concentrate in the freedom pockets of the world. So, it's about continuing to use it the free way wherever we can and Jeff's encouragement is welcome! Also, you can't prohibit using the Bitcoin chain in whatever way it enables ... and if that is bringing shitcoins there natively, Bitcoin has to survive this by doing what it does best - being better money. Some of these tokens may even enable cool freedom use cases, who knows. It's about us the people understanding Bitcoin and using it in the most beneficial free way. If we don't get it, we are not ready for freedom. Bitcoin imposing rules on how it should be used is the same statist attitude as usual. "Papa authority please help and make the dimwits respect the law that keeps society safe."

It's so pretty and peaceful at our farm and house these days. No strong winds since more than a week. The wild oats and wheat in the olive grove are drying up. The thistles are blooming purple. A few more days and I gotta clean the field unfortunately. Can't make it too easy for the wild fires ;)

That's great to hear you are looking into alternatives as well, the more demand and eyes the better. Okay, I'll keep an eye on Fountain next updates. And I just checked Nostria's video options. But it only takes short clips for now it seems + it's so heavy, it always takes 10 minutes and a felt 2 GB of data download before it's up to speed 😄 I'm sure all this gets better over time. It's the nature of open source decentralized development. Good day back!!

You are right, mate. I just tried opening it on mobile and desktop ... and it won't play. Yesterday it worked just fine 🤷🏼
So, that's what I mean it's a lovely start for an alternative. But I think absolutely NOT perfect 😂 It can look more ugly, whatever, but it has to WORK. I can't wholeheartedly recommend it yet to anyone outside the Nostr sphere which is a bummer.

I'm continuing to explore Nostr's capabilities to be a YouTube alternative. There are two potential clients that get the job done: "Nostube" and "Plebs". Both are desktop-only clients at the moment. They look nice enough and are easy to navigate. Needless to say that content is still missing.
I do not self-host my videos. This is mainly because we live off-grid in a tiny home with patchy internet connection. I want to change that soonest. But since this will be the default for many new people coming to Nostr, it's nice to see how this can work. My Nostr webspace is running on Primal and Nostr.Build subscription. There's lots of room to optimize this with the relay management etc. ... but I didn't have to energy to look into it further. It works for now.
I do like the uploader and navigation on "Plebs", but for some reason it gave me an error when loading my latest 16-minute video. So, I tried "Nostube" which had no problem with it. "Nostube" also shows all my uploaded videos in a nicely organized fashion. "Plebs" on the other hand is a bit selfish and only shows videos I uploaded with "Plebs". I also cannot find Nostr profiles for "Plebs" nor "Nostube". If you do, please share!
So, as usual, Nostr gives you these mild headaches when you just want to get your things done ... and you stumble upon all this little weirdness that steals your time. BUT after all, it kinda works and I was able to share on the legacy socials that my video is also available on Nostr 🤙🏼

I just went on a stroll on LinkedIn after I hadn't accessed it for about 6 years. In my previous 'career' in the UN environment sphere, at times it was helpful to keep professional connections there.
But oh boy, I didn't expect that I can still be shocked by what's floating around and going on there. Nothing changed. To imagine that most of this corporate, dogmatic, moralistic style and attitude is still in the political and economic driver's seat today ... jeez!
I'm so grateful to be in the place where I am now and doing the work I'm doing. But in these moments I feel like I can't work fast enough 😵‍💫

Very right. The cold is a 'just' a very healthy tool to expose you to controlled stress. The cold is conscious short-term stress exposure. This creates new mental patterns towards 'I can do this' instead of seeking comfort.

Yeah, I started with breathwork myself first. And then moved on to discover the cold.
There are all these ceazy health benefits, cardiovascular training, hormesis, lasting dopamine kick etc. But what I love most about it is the mental effect, the strengthened mindset, better stress management, and increased body awareness.

It's impressive to me what difference it makes to do breathwork and cold exposure in larger groups. People dare to go all in, support each other, emotions are coming to the surface, and everyone's opening up.
Lots of mental weight is lifted, courage returns and things just look brighter. Next to all these health benefits, it's like real life is having a comeback.
Since the breath and the cold are available for everyone, the Wim Hof method is all about taking life into your own hands. Take on responsibility for your life, your health, have the trust to go your own way and discover freedom.

I went from Greece to Germany with the car in summer 2024. In Serbia and Hungary I had a huge amount of insects stuck to my front grill, like I remember it from my childhood in the 80s/90s in Germany. As soon as I crossed over to Slovakia, Czech Republic, Germany ... hardly any insects. What does this tell us?

Very good! I'm currently not carb-free, but I fully go along with your diet choice. From my experience it feels exactly like you describe. And man, do I believe you that as an Italian in Italy (!) this feels tough.
I went vegetarian for ~9 years, but started with regular meat again last year. My nervous system became way more sensitive and the occasional meat grounds me much better in this phase of my life (B12 🤷🏼) For me as well, coffee had to go, doesn't work at all anymore! Of course no alcohol. I now go for cacao or Greek decaf (well well 😁), but green or herbal tea's are even better. Intermittent fasting is king.
My next step is to let go of all types of industrial flour products and sadly that local hand-made ice cream here. The only occasional sweeteners will be the amazing Greek thyme and heather honeys here.
So, forza .... πάμε!!

My Wim Hof Morning Routine

This is my preferred Wim Hof breathing and stretching routine in the morning. There's no fixed structure to follow though.
In the course of your practice, for example following the Wim Hof Fundamentals video course, you'll get to know your mind and body better and better. And over time you'll find out how you prefer to do your breathing exercise, when to do your cold plunges and what stretching you like to add to your routine. Of course you can also adjust depending on how you feel and what's going on that day. Try not to miss making it a daily habit though. Your future self will thank you!

Yeah, it didn't use to be like that. Travelling in the 2010s was fun in comparison. I think it has mostly to do with the price pressure, personnel cuts, more regulations and software systems that improve-worsen the experience. To my surprise, the Greek Aegean Airlines is one of the better customer experiences.

Another test of Plebs, the Nostr video platform (plebs.app).
This video is longer and horizontal and thus shows up in the video category in full-screen 16:9 format.
Shorts on Plebs are categorized as vertical 9:16 videos up to 60s. So, it doesn't match the requirements YouTube and Instagram have.
Therefore, a vertical video of say1m20s would fall into the video category and by default be displayed as 16:9.
I assume all this can change at any moment and I haven't yet looked into how it compares with e.g. Nostube.

Having worked myself for the UN Environment Program for 10+ years, I can confirm that much of today's funding has to be squeezed in and made fit for less urgent or insignificant matters, just to feed the climate change narrative.
As to whether climate change is real, I concur with Gregg Braden ... climate change is absolutely real, always has been. But man isn't significantly responsible for it. So, all the monitoring and control structures put in place make close to no sense.
In addition, as @nprofile…tkhj mentioned, you can't halt climate change nor achieve environmental sustainability for that matter within a system that can only exist based on continuous growth. All 'good' intentions and measures by environmentalists and politicians can't change that fact.
So, before I left the UN, I gave a presentation on Bitcoin and consciousness raising to my team at the time. I was smiled at, not taken seriously of course. And then I had to go, because I felt and know that no needed profound change can come from within the existing system. We have to live and build the new ourselves 🙏🏼

First time trying Plebs Video on Nostr ... so far so very good! I uploaded the videp on Plebs desktop and it worked smoothly using my Primal webspace. The video link of Plebs in the post itself doesn't seem to work, it's not connecting to the relays. But if you access pleb.app home directly, all's fine. More testing to come 😁🤙🏼

Nobody really likes the cold at first. But once you overcome your initial resistances, you realize that the cold is your calm teacher. The point is to go beyond "like" and "dislike". That's what will set you free.
