Yes but the water use of dairy, if handled properly, can safely be put back into the water cycle. It's my understanding that AI's water use contaminates the water in such a way that it's unusable afterwards. The article provided also has a bias, every study does nowadays but I'd be curious to see a projected rate of water usage if AI data centers were as commonplace as dairy farms.
This isn't to say I approve of the current dairy farming framework of course.

A small scale model would be ideal, unfortunately I don't have those kinds of resources right now. Let us hope that humanity as a whole finds an amiable solution to making AI more environmentally sustainable.

If there were a way to downgrade the energy cost by means of greener fueling methods, AND if there were a way to recycle the water the data centers use back into the system so we aren't polluting on an enormous scale anymore. (I know, it's a tall order) Do you think you'd use AI?
I would never use it for my artwork or for coding my game, because I find the process of those two activities fun, like you said I don't want to be on the grindset for my hobbies.
But say you're in a position where you don't know where to begin with something you're working on for a client and it's not really something that interests you, I could see myself using AI in that case as a base and then building off of what it produces with my own knowledge.

As an artist and environmentally focused person I don't really like what AI does on those fronts.
As someone newish to the computer science field I can't deny it's benefits, but I would be lying if I said I didn't wince every time I use AI to help me code.
With coding it's really the environmental impact, I love this planet and all the creatures on it, so knowing that every time I use it I'm causing huge amounts of waste and pollution is not great. I'm studying computer science more so I use AI less, and hopefully one day I won't even need it.
BUT I don't think less of people who use it for coding, this is just a standard I hold myself to regarding my environmental impact.

Not to say it's boring! What I mean is that when I am listening to someone discuss something in a fixed tone it helps me feel relaxed, when I don't need to sleep I like lore too, it just ALSO helps me sleep sometimes.

So Zelda, Pokemon, and Animal Crossing were my entire personality as a kid. Rhythm Heaven vexed me as a child because I wanted to play it but I lack, well, rhythm. Monster Hunter helps relieve the frustration of not being able to work in wildlife biology. Terraria was my most loved indie game til Cult of the Lamb came along and I'm SURE I will always love both. Shadow of the Colossus did something to my brain. I can't even get into it, I just love it so much. And of course Deadlock my beloved. It took the place of overwatch in my heart the second I got access.

Ok this guy has some points but he's playing gender checkers while the modern world is playing gender chess. The thought that there's only 2 opposing genders is so laughable when you look at biology. There is a species of fungus with 17 distinct genders.

Okay so monster hunter is so fun but I think I just figured out why I like it so much? So I used to be a wildlife bio major and had dreams of being a researcher working in conservation out in the field or a park ranger doing community outreach specifically to teach kids about the natural world. Unfortunately I had to drop out due to health issues and then a chronic pain disorder hit and basically there's no way I'd be able to physically handle either job. All this to say, I love animals and I love learning about the natural world. So when presented with a game like MHWorld where conservation and preservation are the forefront of the story's focus I was so glad! And the designs of the monsters are FANTASTIC, which helps. I always captured instead of slaying in World and the game rewards you with higher drop rates for doing so. It's just so cool! Here is a game series with a title like Monster Hunter, but really it's about more than hunting. I dunno. Felt like monster posting.

To me? Monster Hunter. As far as in terms of what it did for tech in video games, either Quake or Mario 64. I also think Ocarina of Time did a ton of leg work. It's hard to pick any ONE game.
