the Strike line of credit may be my favorite thing we’ve ever built. it’s unbelievable.
- it’s an open term loan. no origination fee, no early repayment fee, and you only accrue interest on what you actually use

how do i live on bitcoin?
i have a bitcoin line of credit on Strike. i spend on credit cards, and pay my HOA, ComEd, credit card, and other bills with my line of credit. i also have small DCA going on the line of credit at these price levels. my paychecks come into strike and i configure it to pay down my line of credit and stack sats with the excess cash. i never have to sell my bitcoins and deal with tax triggers.
this also ensures my LTV is never dangerous. i don’t need to borrow a massive lump sum at once and risk a dip. my LTV for a line of credit is like less than 1% of my bitcoin.

i don’t think so man.
Bitcoin adoption is path dependent.
in some emerging markets, it’s used as money first because their money is so broken. however, you’d be surprised how much is oversold on twitter versus what is reality. USDT has way more adoption than BTC does for medium of exchange. it’s likely because such a volatile (and high performing) emerging store of value is a tough sell for a medium of exchange at scale.
in developed markets, that’s even more the case. it’s adopted as savings first because fiat “works”, for now. I live in Chicago, nobody accepts bitcoin.
using credit against BTC doesn’t slow adoption, it accelerates it in my opinion. encourages people to buy and save in BTC while spending the shitty money. Gresham’s Law

Some more color on the Line of Credit product we're rolling out:
Most Bitcoin-backed credit today is structured as a 12-month term loan.
That product makes sense if you're financing something discrete:
– a wedding
– a home renovation
– starting a business
– a major life event
You take a chunk of capital upfront, lock in the term, and deploy it. We see this a lot.
But a 12-month loan doesn’t solve for something much more common: What's the best way for me to live on my bitcoins?
If you're not financing a large one-time expense, taking 12 months of capital all at once can sometimes increase risk.
Because Bitcoin is volatile. If you borrow a large amount upfront and the price drops significantly, your starting LTV might be 50%. Now you're stressing about margin calls, collateral top ups, etc. Many people actually don't use Bitcoin credit products for this exact reason.
If you didn’t need all that capital in the first place because you are just trying to pay normal bills, that’s where a Line of Credit is different and extremely valuabke.
With a Line of Credit, you don’t take 12 months of capital on day one.
You draw what you need, when you need it. You pay interest only on what you draw.
On Strike, it acts as another payment method like a linked bank account. Have a bills to pay? Select your line of credit as your payment method.
Now combine that with:
– Direct Deposit
– Bill Pay
– Buying and saving in bitcoin
Here’s what Strike enables:
You hold some portion of your savings in Bitcoin that you're comfortable with on Strike.
A bill comes in: your mortgage, HOA, utilities, credit card, etc.
Instead of selling Bitcoin (and triggering capital gains), you draw a small amount from your Line of Credit to cover the expense.
If your Bitcoin savings are substantial relative to your monthly expenses, your is not 50%, it's probably closer to 1%.
Completely different risk profile and allowing people to use bitcoin as an active savings account that benefits their everyday life!
Then your paycheck hits via Direct Deposit.
You can:
– Pay down the balance entirely
– Pay it down partially
– Or manage it however you choose
You’re dynamically financing your life against your savings instead of liquidating your savings.
Strike enables you to own more BTC. Accumulate more than you otherwise would and sell less than you'd otherwise have to. That’s how you live on an appreciating asset without constantly selling it.
The 12-month term loan still has its place. It’s a great product for specific use cases.

because i borrowed money from someone else to lend you the fiat.
i don’t want to own billions of dollars of fiat and lend it out to make petty yields of 6%-12%. i want to own bitcoin.
so if i borrow $100 from someone else and then lend a bitcoiner the $100, if the bitcoiner defaults, i have to pay back the $100 i borrowed… has nothing to do with my conviction.
i am working on a product that removes liquidations entirely but it will be more expensive and its not as easy as people make it sound on the internet

genuine question: do people actually believe this?
to state the obvious, my business incentive is to keep the loan open for as long as possible. i get paid servicing my customer.
“taking their bitcoin” onto my balance sheet would be about the dumbest way imaginable for me to acquire bitcoin.
if i want to buy bitcoin at these levels (which i do every day, regardless of price), i buy it with profit.
we don’t lend out cash from our balance sheet because we don’t want to own billions of dollars of fiat. Strike owns as much bitcoin as possible. we lend out fiat that we got from someone else.
when a loan gets liquidated, it’s because i owe that cash back to someone else who gave me fiat. if the customer defaults, i have to sell the bitcoin to get them back the cash.
what do i want? i want bitcoiners to have healthy loans and never sell, forever. i buy bitcoin with the money i earn providing the service…
