Everyone is talking about the European Parliament’s extension of the “Chat Control” law, but the war is being fought on other fronts as well. I’m reporting from the German front, where the government has NOTHING more important to do than to water down the Freedom of Information Act, which allows citizens to hold the state accountable, in order to effectively undermine and abolish it.

Love it, pal. That’s exactly the point, or rather, those are exactly the points! Two of them, to be precise: participation and scale! Democracy only works if everyone actually exercises their right and duty to participate. That’s the first point I take from your answer; the other is “clubs, families, etc.” That is scale. Direct democracy works wonderfully on a small scale, but with 100 million people in a country, and everyone expected to participate in the discussion leading to a decision, now that’s difficult. On a large scale, we won’t be able to avoid representation. But career politicians are the death of democracy! Those who represent the people should of course receive compensation for lost income, but it must be TRANSPARENT AND COME SOLELY FROM THE SOVEREIGN, i.e. the people. Greed and the lobbying that goes hand in hand with it are the true enemies of democracy. A kind of continued pay during leave of absence, paid for by the state, with the amount of the allowances determined by voters based on performance. Well, what do you think politicians could accomplish in four years under such a system?

How they all fixate on the marriage example - funny, given that the topic imho is the social contract based on natural law in general. What these wannabe-libertarians (they all ultimately come back into the protective fold of society) fail to grasp is that humans are inherently social beings and ultimately depend on living together in community. In their moments of supposed omnipotence they all shout 'leave me alone, I can do without you'. Yet even Ayn Rand drew social welfare benefits at the end of her productive life. Well, how about that. If you REALLY want to leave the oh so oppressive socialist society, then effing go ahead, damn it - but please don't come back either! Stay in Galt's Gulch! But because a social community is NOT made up of monsters or parasites, it failed to truly barricade the entrance/exit to your Morlock valley. Even though the society doesn't need you, they know that you need them, and will therefore always remain open even to the biggest douchebags. Cheers all!

A topic nobody likes to deal with, but one we will have to face sooner or later. The digital legacy, or the question of how we pass on access, our passwords, the credentials to all our digital data to our descendants, without them getting hold of it too early, or a third party obtaining and misusing it. Trust no one, verify. Naturally I do not have the one-size-fits-all answer, or any answer at all, but what I can contribute is a small piece of this larger puzzle. Ever taken a #snapshot with your #mobile #phone and posted it here right away? Maybe you shouldn't. Depending on the app, #metadata may or may not be stripped. DMs are often handled differently. You have no idea who might end up with your image and what #data might still be attached to it! It gets even worse with centralized data kraken services, you do know the ones I mean, Right?. for almost two weeks now I've been building small, useful #browser #tools with the help of #AI. Ok, whether they're useful, honestly I don't know, that's for you to decide. But small, above all ad-free, without tracking and offline usable, that is definitely a giveb. Well, after nearly two weeks, a bug finally bit me. Happy Monero Tail Emission Day
Today marks the fourth anniversary of the tail emission coming into effect. The current inflation rate is below 0.86% and continues to approach zero over time. This means the number of new coins generated annually (<160,000) is lower than the estimated number of lost coins. Consequently, the supply remains stable and miner rewards are secured.

but the host would still be the one single point of failure, the central point to shut down or censor, imho the question is how can one utilize the decentralized network to eliminate the centralized host. I was think of using the immutable IPFS with a crypto domain and use the nostr network NIP-78 app data for additive or dynamic content. But I do love your thinking.
