I always confuse Kaku with Giorgio A. Tsoukalos who is definitely a quack. I class Kaku and Tyson as not quacks personally. Mostly quality though admittedly dumbed down, gotta make some concessions if you choose to try to speak to the masses. In a world with guys like Tsoukalos and Kruse, quack is a bit aggressive for Kaku and Tyson.

I believe it. Batteries are expensive. Anything other than batteries comes with conversion losses and a generator to maintain.
None of this accounts for the added cost of generation that over produces enough to not need batteries. Which may be downright impossible depending on site and power source.
Another issue is load matching which is a whole big thing. A major issue at grid scale and getting worse.
