My mom has been bearing the brunt of his care since my grandmother passed in 2015. She only recently (like the last 2 years) convinced 2 of my aunts to help her. There are 8 kids total, 7 living. And only 3 taking care of him. He, on his good days, has told my mom that he wants her to get everything.

I've only got 1 left (I had all 4 until 2015. I am so blessed.) and he's got really bad dementia. It's heartbreaking. His own mom died from Alzheimer's. He was always so quick witted and funny and it's painful to watch him fade away from us.
He regularly told a story about me when I was a kid. He told it to me recently saying "I don't remember which granddaughter this was..." and told me my story.

This is working with the assumption that "soulmates" aren't just bullshit made up by Hollywood to sell movie tickets. There are people you will sync with quicker, better, more fully but all relationships require work because people are always changing and growing. At least, they should be changing and growing, learning about themselves, their romantic partners, their friends, the world around them. What makes relationships work is being able to change and grow together. That can mean with a romantic partner or just a friendship. Trying to chase some ideal of "the one meant for me" is why a lot of folks are ending up alone these days.
