@nprofile…r32t but as far as i know there are no seriously usable ones with open training data, and it's not what the linux kernel people are using either. but i also think that this whole mess of "needing" a fuzzy llm to find security bugs, which often (still) turn out to be some sort of buffer overflows, is because it's a giant 90s-style C code base that can't be formally verified (afaik)

my bose qc gen1 earbud's case recently stopped working (3 flashing leds). looks like it's totally unrepairable and replacement case costs like 80 eur/$99. are there any earbuds with repairable or generic charging cases, or other recommendations? also considering cabled usb-c earbuds if there's such a thing

i'm more comfy in inkscape than in freecad sketcher, but also i often need to import and replace step files in a freecad assembly, so i made two little scripts today that are super useful for my workflow: 1. conversion (extrusion) of an svg face (outline) to a 3D STEP file 2. reloading of imported STEP files in freecad so that the object stays at the same position + rotation as before

had a lot of frustration with constant 1-2 second freezes when working with more complex models in @nprofile…8747 over the last year until i finally looked into it and it's just some bug in the "preselection on hover" feature that i don't even need... so if you experience this, just turn off "Preferences -> General -> Selection -> Enable preselection". can't believe i didn't look into this earlier argh

After we received CNC production samples, I sent out final detail changes for 2 of MNT Reform Next's 4 case parts to our CNC manufacturer and gave the green light for the first 90 aluminum cases. I wanted 2 corners on 2 of the parts to be smoothed off so that they don't become annoying to touch during heavy use. Here you can see Ana's updated corner design.

- oscilloscope and logic analyzer (ds16 pro with pulseview/sigrok) listening on the CC1/CC2 lines between my Fairphone 5 and the target devices, to record the "chat", look at the timings etc.

@nprofile…msjp after implementing most of the SNK-side PD state machine incl VDMs, my main issues stemmed from the timing and retry behavior of the first Source Capabilities message(s) that i have to send. this has to be done exactly right, and devices behave very differently in terms of how tolerant they are or how long they need to boot and respond (or don't respond anymore if they don't like a detail).

USB-C DisplayPort Alt-Mode on MNT Pocket Reform quest update. Got the following things to work:
- Direct USB-C cable to Dell S2722DC
- "AmazonBasics" USB-C to DP cable (Chrontel inside) to LG 27GR95QE-B, to Dell U2724DE and to LG 27UL550-W
- Club3D CSV-2553 7-in-1 dock with USB-C to HDMI converter (can also charge the Pocket)
- Xreal Pro AR glasses (thanks @nprofile…msjp!)
- Apple A2119 USB-C to HDMI adapter (same!)

last night i was sitting until almost 4am battling that damn usb-c to displayport cable... i was able to record the PD communication on the CC lines between my phone and a display, and it all looks perfectly reasonable. but i can't yet get the cable to respond to pocket reform's fusb302. it just doesn't respond, and fusb302 doesn't want to send it any more messages after trying a couple of resets. my guess is i'm still holding VCONN wrong/my patched in vconn line doesn't work

my dell monitor at home does respond to the VDMs, which is nice. the dell monitor at work doesn't wait for me but instead initiates alt mode discovery, which is extra nice. but i had zero luck yet with the usb-c to displayport cable from amazon or the club3d 7-in-1 hub yet.

recently i coded a line editor for the keyboard/oled in pocket reform, and a cli for the system controller, and it turned out very useful for switching usb port muxes/functions and now for manually sending usb-c pd vdms 🙃
