GM bitchez. I've been busy. I started a nonprofit meant to preserve independent music recorded in my town.
I started ripping CDs from a local collection held at Humboldt Hot Air and thought, this shit needs to be preserved.
So I developed a plan. And even a manual. And I got permission from several bands to stream their music on my website humboldtmusicarchive.org
Only 37 albums up so far. Of which, I was able to glean about 20 emails. Surprisingly, only 4 of those were bunk. 5 responded already!
Someone heard about what I was doing and sent me a thumbdrive of >35GB of predigitized Humboldt music going back to the 80s. 💪
I know I shared the website before. But I was just messing around then. I now only stream by permission and have a rights policy. Lol. This shit's serious all-a-sudden.

Oh my, that is so cool. I am inspired by your work. I am a total rookie when it comes to art and artistry, but I have an idea, a dream, that could some day materialize into something cool. It's almost like your posts arrived as some kind of sign for me. Well, I make no promises, but I will keep you posted if I make any headway. Thanks again for the inspiration!

#introductions
This coming Thursday 13/07/26 my band, Liotia, are live streaming direct from my shed.
8pm UK time (19:00UTC). It's going out via Owncast but I'll see if I can get an HLS link to populate over Nostr natively. Either way it's 100% Indie Web business with no big tech vampires involved, just good 'ol internet like your grandma used to make.
https://live.theindiebeat.fm/ https://mibo.nostria.app/bcbc74bdc22b38d660c87553b5323a0713b935d6753507e0bc4fc13bf58d8081.webp
It's dawned on my that the vibe I'm beginning to get from Nostr is similar to that which I felt during (my) early days of discovering the Internet - around 1995.
I have just joined, help a dude out with this as I'm new here!
Artwork needed...
Howdy folks, I'm looking for some artwork to promote my indie-web music programme The Kalimera Show in my local community with stickers and fliers to put in local record shows/give hand to hand etc. I'd love to get some Outside The Computer people interested and even better if they're folks unaware that a real internet exists outside of Facebacon, LinkedInPark and eX etc.
The mains things I want to include is my cat George, who is big feature of the daily weather report (also my parent domain is https://inpc.cat/) and some basic text that communicates as snappily as possible.
It's 100% Indie Web broadcast from my shed, a home-spun affair of me (a sound engineer by trade) playing vinyl records and that rejects mainstream walled garden of shiternet. Obviously needs to be a bit savvy text wise as to not over complicate things and work for both sticker and A6 formats.
What I definitely don't want is AI art, aesthetically I think it's shit and doesn't suit the vibe of what I'm doing here. Listening to the show is probably the best way to get a feel of it, I play a wide range of music from Jazz to Funk to Prog to Hip hop to Dub to TechnoHonk etc.
https://pirate.mxtthxw.art/@thekalimerashow
I have a small budget of £100 (in sats) and this isn't a full on commercial operation, just so that's clear from the start but still want to respect peoples' time best I can.
If you're interested drop me a DM and respond here as DMs probably won't work anyway. Cheers! :)

I'm supporting this band next month and they have a new album coming out today.
Some cool German dudes making minimalist, rhythmic and repetitive groove patterns in the tradition of early Kraftwerk and cult labels Brain and Sky. Now on tour, possibly coming to a place near you?
Obviously I recommend their show in Deptford, the global centre of coolness on the 29th August but other shows are available.

How do you make a living from #V4V?
You don't but what you can do is truly be in control of your content, get direct support from the people that enjoy what your doing, not have to worry about self censorship so you don't get banned from YouTube, meet cool people, help build something that just routes around all the BS that makes the internet shit and much more.
It's not for everyone but it's for anyone...

Announcing #Squalk
Personally, I’m not a fan of real-time communication at all costs; I believe that an asynchronous approach based on more in-depth content is often more effective and healthy. So why not breathe new life into good old-fashioned forums? They seem like the perfect solution and I really don’t understand why something like this didn’t already exist on Nostr, so I created it!
https://chronicle.dtonon.com/94e5e35647a77dfdff5a6d6f5fd271195d6d8adb97a87e0b17ab5993d6ccb36c.png
The basic idea behind Squalk is to offer a tool through which anyone can build their own community, where the main focus is on thoughtful discussion.
Each forum includes a chat feature in the right-hand sidebar, which is useful for quickly interacting with other users in spontaneous and temporary discussions, thus combining the best of both worlds.
https://chronicle.dtonon.com/92a1d8fedc47d6e4ac8807024e6b263d1ad5707082ee6c496435460af69c9fc5.png
Squalk supports both single-room and multi-room setups.
It’s also possible to add resources in the form of articles and customize specific pages (homepage, contact page) to offer a unique and distinctive experience to your users.
You can format and tag your posts, and there’s full support for quoting.
https://chronicle.dtonon.com/2203232854f8acab3aa38e94fdea7264268d20a34ff2cca3745e8d2a88592401.png

Squalk is based on NIP-29 and NIP-7D, with some minor implementations that are fully backward-compatible. I’m also exploring how to extend NIP-29 for better permission management, so that various types of groups can be created.
After refining these parts, I will add an admin interface for the admins.
You can play it here: https://squalk-test.dtonon.com

For the things you love to do, what was the first time you felt the joy of doing it, or of succeeding and wanting to do it again?
For me, one of them was the first time I made a tikka masala curry that tasted better than my favorite restaurant, and I get excited to nail it, even if I end up messing it up. Its really good and I love eating it.
Another is driving well. My dad really pushed me to perfect the little things, like stopping smoothly or parking fast and straight. The first times I did it right was a thrill, and now it's become a point of pride for me, and I love to drive.

Every time you open Waze, Google gets a live GPS feed of your location. Speed traps, traffic jams, road hazards — convenience, but also surveillance.
I've built an alternative. And it goes beyond just traffic events.
Roadstr: real-time road events on Nostr. Spot a speed camera? Publish a kind-1315 event tagged with a geohash. Other drivers see it instantly. Confirm it's still there with a kind-1316 event.
Just signed events on relays.
**Privacy by Design**
🔒 Ephemeral keys — new keypair per report, no identity linking
🔒 NIP-40 expiration — reports auto-expire (4h for police check speed traps, 30d for potholes)
🔒 Geohash precision — 1km² area, not your exact GPS for queries
🔒 No background tracking — you broadcast only when you choose to report
Roadstr is working today:
🌐 Web client: cypherpunk.today/static/roadstr
📱 Android app available (https://github.com/jooray/roadstr or zapstore) - integrates with OSMand
📋 Protocol spec: kinds 1315 + 1316
🔧 Developer guide for integration
We're looking for the first independent client implementations. If you build a Nostr client, Roadstr adds road intelligence in ~200 lines of code.
**Beyond Nostr, beyond road reporting**
The NIP allows transformation into short data packet and back for reporting over MeshCore - local info, over the air and back (so if you hear it through MeshCore, you can broadcast the Nostr event!)
Also - and this is key - there are many more map events that are useful. A dangerous person with a gun. Unsafe zone (natural disaster). When there's something happening around you, you might want to know about it and tell others.
Very early demo. Available now.

This might become very cool. Its another one of those things I was hoping would come to fruition. I haven't tried it yet but I installed. Just from looking, the relay maximalist that I've become has me hoping for some control over that in the future. How cool would it be to set up camp, drop your spot, and your friends can find it? The viewer could sort by community. The publisher could have high confidence in locations appearing as expected. There is probably hundreds of more creative reasons. An option to manually add coordinates would be primo, too. I'm excited about this one. https://zapstore.dev/apps/naddr1qqxkjmewde68yctrdvhxzursqyv8wumn8ghj7un9d3shjtn6v9c8xar0wfjjuer9wcpzpkdp38e074qalhe7t6lh76f3dey759e8ctnjhkw3zvv40c96x3sgqvzqqqr7pvmps38m

Just released: Coracle Hosting!
https://hosting.coracle.social
This is me trying to make money on open source. You can now PAY ME to get a HOSTED community relay by visiting https://hosting.coracle.social.
https://hosting.coracle.social is powered by https://gitea.coracle.social/coracle/caravel, which uses https://gitea.coracle.social/coracle/zooid to cheaply run MANY relays on a SINGLE machine.
What this means of course is that you can UNDERCUT my business model by deploying it on your OWN infrastructure and out-marketing me! Let a zillion flowers bloom!
Here's the catch though — I'm going to be integrating this deeply into Flotilla, so — assuming I can get my act together and make Flotilla actually good — you'll never have a chance because I own the relationship with the user! However, please let me know if you decide to run Caravel seriously and I will consider adding you to the alternative hosting options in Flotilla.
Some neat things about Caravel:
- You can accept RECURRING payments with lightning via NWC, as well as by card.
- It automatically provisions relays in the background using zooid's relay.
- Virtual relays support livekit and blossom integrations if you enable them.
- There is a free tier that provides a subset of functionality with a low member limit, so you can try it without any payment details.
Give it a try and stress test my billing logic! There's only a slight chance I will accidentally charge you the wrong amount.
Everything that once felt connected suddenly is. Interfaced by brittle constructions of channeled electricity, we project ourselves into the ether. And there, in the ocean of data, our identities blend. Locality becomes osmosis. And realms flow into each other through their veil.
Welcome home, fellow dyne.
https://news.dyne.org/planetdyne-s2026-e04/
I've said this before and I think it's worth repeating. Nostr is too small to have petty beefs with each other. You can disagree on things all day long, but making enemies in a niche this small is harmful to everyone.
You can't control other people... they may have a grudge against you, but don't let yourself mirror that negativity.
It feels like the first era of nostr is coming to a close. It's going to look pretty dark and feel pretty empty. But that's just the cyclical nature of things. Stick around and you'll be on the next glorious mountain top. Don't forget why we're all here.
I just want everyone to get along, to build, to succeed. Deep down I think that's what we all want. Let's have each other's backs. Let's communicate. Let's stay honest and humble.
I'm glad you're here. 🫂
All Spatia-Arcana members now have access to discord-style chat rooms, with audio, video, screen sharing, and chat, through Flotilla and nak. You can create your own rooms, with access settings adjustable to your preferences or you can use the public test room to try it out. That can be found here: https://spatia-arcana.com/groups/bamothoythr . Click on the Flotilla link to enter the room, then share the url with other participants. If you want to join via nak, you probably don't need me to tell you how to do that 😅
After spending more time of FB lately, I can confidently say (with some encouragement) that Nostr UX doesn't suck. Not at all. It's not uncommon to open the FB app to an empty feed with a grey blinking screen that stays that way for minutes. Or a notification indicator that says there has been activity but nothing new is displayed. Or a claim that replies exist that, despite rifling through "most relevant", "most recent", and "all", never appear. I'll have moderation requests show up for groups that I admin weeks-months after the request was made. Search is utterly broken. It's easier to search FB through Google than from within FB itself.
Beyond FB, my YouTube history doesn't show what I've watched until days after the fact. I'll delete emails 2-3 times from Outlook or Gmail before they actually disappear. Financial apps send me notifications hours to days beyond when they are pertinent. I could go on and on...
Most of this stuff is directly technology dependent and not related to their shitty business models or the algorithms that steer them or their stupid rules. It's all just broken experiences that people tolerate because they have no real recourse and too many reasons to stay.
Nostr isn't broken. Its quite nice, actually. Clients might have their quirks but you'd have to add all of those together to match just how awful big tech has become.
The Swedish word for "Interface" is "gränssnitt", which translates to "slice of limits".
That's the note. GM!

dis is how i use nostr (mousetrap mode)
https://image.nostr.build/5b89ad22390b6cb2df0b8a95981c851874348dbe1408aec6976ccdb85bab33d7.jpg
It's not branded yet, but I finally was able to prop up my vision for the Spatia Arcana nOasis with Jumble's community mode:
https://spatiaarcana.netlify.app
This feels like such a "one small step for man" moment (on a very less dramatic scale) for me. I'm terrible with computers and I've needed some help to get it here, but I haven't used AI for anything besides the logo on the preview. I've only used the tools that have been created to do exactly this.
I wouldn't assume that nearly anybody actively using Nostr would be the least bit wowed by this (maybe a few), but that's not the idea. There are 2 other goals I have had in my mind:
1. To have something I can use myself, to introduce my people to Nostr, that isn't ravaged by spam, bitcoin memes and mantras, or any other mono-topic that happens to take over generalized feeds on a given day... but is still broad enough that it's obviously not a fully topic-scoped, super niche thing.
2. To have a functioning proof of concept for packaging up the human-first, semi-closed community idea in a way that can be explained, understood & replicated by anyone... so that it can presented it to groups, organizations, friends with weird hobbies, or whoever.
Now, I can do both of those things.
Pyramid + RelayTools + Jumble + Brainstorm... a cheap VPS + a Github account. That's it. No self-hosting hurdles and only minimal, simple terminal time.
I'm trying to provide some extra nice feeds and basic media storage, but a trimmed back version would cost less than $10/mo. I've taken lots of time to curate/help curate some of the feeds but I haven't been alone in that effort. Some of us might even have fun doing it. Others are doing it simply by being active. If you explore a bit, you'll find some educational stuff mixed in to article feeds, a place for new people to post and express interest in joining the community, feeds of people & topics from outside of the community to start tailoring one's own experience, and those beautiful client tags to maybe spark curiosity about leaving my little training ground.
I need to spend some time on branding & writing about the setup process, then it will be all set for presentations. I'm very, very happy... you should all be glad you're not here with me in person to endure this :)
