The prophet Samuel, when he went to anoint King David, almost anointed his older brother — Eliab — because of appearance. He was tall, imposing, looked like a king. It was then that God rebuked him:
"Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart."
God was not praising that limitation — He was naming it.
Machiavelli named the same thing centuries later. In chapter XVIII of The Prince, he wrote:
"Everyone can see what you appear to be, few can touch what you are."
A prophet and a political strategist, separated by more than two thousand years.
The same observation. The same fact: men react to what is before their eyes — not to what is inside the heart.
To ignore this is not virtue. It is weakness.

I did this for 2 years.
The blanket in the hammock to keep warm doesn't work very well. It bunches up, you have to wrap yourself and you get tangled in it and your range of motion reduced. Not comfortable at all.
At first I thought I'd found the answer. By the time switched out I hadn't gotten a good night of sleep in probably months, constantly having to be mindful even while sleeping of how I have to lay, what angles I can't use, the swaying. I think I clung to the idea of it longer than I was enjoying it.
I still love hammocks for lounging outside, sitting and cooking outside, usual camping type stuff. Its a nice novelty to have, an extra hang out spot for a guest that gets out of the way when you dont need it. But as a full time bed, its inferior and basically everyone will figure it out if they try it long term. Try it. See if it works. If youre still sleeping in it 3 years later and feeling great, tell me what I need to do right.

Yeah, I was pleased that getting a reasonable set of outputs wasn't that difficult, but wonder if I was too cautious in my legality specifications. I don't really care if it's technically legal, more about being left alone/not getting caught, so may have to revisit what I did there (a bit tough since I have no experience with actually doing this IRL).
It's been fun, and I hope to at some point test a few out next time I drive about. For now I'll be content doing a little manual checking of results and maybe looking to find some spots it may have missed and query why they don't show up.

They quote Satoshi's white paper, and forum posts, and then switch their brain off. Big blocks or small? Knots versus the TolerantMinority? Mempoolfullrbf?
Evangelical Christians look crazy when struggling with all the contradictions in the Bible. Even the four Gospels contradict each other in so many ways. This isn't surprising or interesting really; the contradictions get boring to any scholar pretty quickly. The really interesting study of the Bible is when you realize that it was written by dozens of different authors - across multiple genres - who had very different goals in their writing.
Satoshi may have been multiple people. And even if Satoshi was one person, they changed their mind sometimes. That's cool. Stop trying to identify a single non-consistent viewpoint in Satoshi's writings.
And even if Satoshi was consistent on a given topic, they might have been wrong. Satoshi is irrelevant. There is a long list of people (i.e. everyone) that don't control bitcoin, and Satoshi is top of that list
Given this question, the Euthyphro dilemma first asked by Plato:
"Is something good because God [Satoshi] commands it, or does God [Satoshi] command it because it is good?"
my answer is "Bitcoin doesn't care what Satoshi thinks, even if some Bitcoiners do care; I form my own opinion on what is good, incentivized by Bitcoin"

My high school math brain kicked in, sorry, and I wondered what an elliptical (a proper, mathematical one) pool with a jet at each focus would look like, since I suspected it would lead to some cool interference patterns ... so I went ahead and googled:

elon wandered into that lawsuit believing he as elon musk would be able to get the correct outcome because he wanted it, while simultaneously doing nothing that makes him taken seriously. case and point his behavior in china. the more concerning outcome of the case decision is about not just how it is incorrect, but how it demonstrates the social underbelly which leans toward lawlessness and profiteering. as i said recently about appearances versus actuality - important to distinguish between perception and concrete. the other situation is the quiet backend dynamics which are really in favor of the decision and used the case as a hegelian... elon owns one of the largest ai systems on earth. the decision benefits him in the end......
i warned elon about 3 years ago during the decision situation for the tesla clawback case - eventually popularity becomes a liability and continued growth often forces you out of your own market....
