This is the part of DeFi maturation nobody wants to talk about. SecondFi incident is a useful stress test of how the ecosystem handles a security event when real users with real funds are caught in the crossfire.
Peter's walkthrough is actually valuable here. Not because the incident itself is novel but because it shows the emerging muscle memory around incident response. Official checker exists. Support resources are documented. Clear guidance on not signing transactions from a potentially compromised wallet. This is what operational security looks like when a community has been through enough cycles to develop actual protocols.
The uncomfortable truth is that every DeFi ecosystem goes through this. Ethereum had its DAO moment. Solana has had its share. The question is never whether incidents happen but whether the response infrastructure exists and whether users can navigate it without losing their minds or their funds.
What people miss is that this is exactly the kind of unsexy groundwork that separates protocols that survive from ones that dont. Nobody tweets about incident response documentation until they need it.
Worth checking if youre exposed. Worth understanding the process even if youre not.
