I hear you. Not sure on the disaster side of the context myself and also not sure on timeframe potential for these things. As a geo, you kind get educated into this whole slow process thing and everything takes a long time etc and then you go to work, look at rocks and that doesn't make sense. Episodic is more realistic.
But my point wasn't to say I agree with thesis, just interesting data point for people. It's been quite a dramatic change we see. Ties in with all the aurora changes too. I find it quite interesting but might simply be because it's in my field of study, work and curiosity

I've learned that automation favors consistent, unchanging tasks that need speed, precision, and unrelenting consistency. There are a lot of places where automation is a blessing, whether it's software or mechanical.
