Yes, asks a lot from both the newcomer as well as the community to get people through that process. But this is normal. If you look at all those 90s internet instruction videos, you on the one hand will laugh at how silly they are sometimes, but also realize how much ground work it takes before a general intuition is created among the broader populace; its only after it has been well integrated/normalized and a generation grows up inside that environment do all these things start to feel self evident.

Well, you can say that, but what is your thesis behind that statement?
I can shortly re-iterate my reasoning, which is based on the fact that the (potential) UX is better (pick your app, pick your algo, not having to manage multiple accounts to access various silos of content, smoother paywalls). And that the horizontal network-effects throughout various social-graphs/usecases ultimately is more powerfull than the vertical social-graphs per use-case.
I.e. we are not competing head on, we are ultimately on a different plane all together.
(i did not mention timelines, i have no idea on the timelines. There are also various domains as wel as geographical and social groupings that may run on different timelines)

depends if the relay keeps a register. It can, such as with the piramid system. But at that point that is a particular account you have with that relay, and as such your ID is not an account. You can have all sorts of accounts in all sorts of places for all sorts of reasons based on your npub, but that in itself does not make your profile an acount.
This is different with the platform model, where the ID and the account are the same thing

In 2018, Harvard economist Kenneth Rogoff said bitcoin was far more likely to fall to $100 than reach $100,000.
Bitcoin later cleared $100,000, and Harvard's endowment disclosed more than $100 million in BlackRock's IBIT. That is a fairly expensive rebuttal from Rogoff's own institution.
His miss came from three assumptions: bitcoin was mainly for criminals, governments would regulate it into irrelevance, and it had no meaningful utility without illicit use. Each assumption treated permissionless access, borderless settlement, and censorship resistance as defects. For people facing capital controls, broken currencies, or limited banking access, those features are the product.
The deeper problem was trust. If your career rests on the belief that governments, central banks, and established institutions are competent stewards of money, bitcoin looks like an unnecessary challenge to a system that basically works. Evidence that falls outside that worldview is easy to dismiss.
FIRE investors can't outsource judgment to credentials. We have to compare the claim with adoption, incentives, and what institutions do with their own capital. When a prediction and a balance sheet disagree, which one deserves more weight?
