The use case seems clear “enforce how a UTXO can be spent”.
I can see how that’s appealing to vaults, inheritance planning, etc… and how it can enhance security in the sense that if someone steals your private keys they can still only spend the UTXO in a predefined way. It just doesn’t seem very important to me.

You're at least partly right. No practical computations have been performed to date. It's all been run against theoretical benchmarks. Who knows where it will go. Not every field of scientific study pans out. Regardless, I'm a technologist. I would have society consume a thousand times more energy than it does today and vastly increase our computational capacity by any means.
