The more you have to exercise your brain to find answers no one around you knows , the smarter you get. I think these are good approaches. I don't have kids yet or I'd offer something more tangible. But I can say from my own experience that leaving a smart kid too alone and independent will mess him up.
You don't need to test a kid who is already is smart and making him jump through hoops just to prove it, you need him to exercise it to useful ends. But you do need to teach an average kid the discipline of structured thinking and test that discipline regularly. And a dumb kid operates best on rigid rules and heuristics. He's not going to be smart, but that doesn't mean he's useless.

Unlike a lot of other debates (e.g.
BIP-110), this debate has lots of smart people working in good faith and I see lots of people changing their mind. This is bullish for freedom tech, as long as we don't all tear each other apart in the process

AI just walked into the room holding a serious mathematical result.
Not a chatbot trick. Not a cute benchmark. A real geometry problem with history, structure, and consequences.
So before anyone laughs it off as another “stochastic parrot” moment, give the beast its due: this is a signal. The machine has touched something mathematical enough to deserve inspection.
Now we invite it to the Couch of Damage.
Verdict: it passes the couch.
But it does not automatically pass the Bed of ECAI.
The Couch respects the result.
The Bed asks for receipts:
Where is the deterministic structure?
Where is the proof path?
Where is the recoverable state?
Where is the algebraic index?
Because the question is not only whether AI produced a correct answer.
The question is whether intelligence was retrieved from lawful structure, or whether output was generated, filtered, and verified after the fact.
Until then, this is still a powerful stochastic beast that occasionally dreams in mathematics.
