You wouldn’t think to look into who runs the company that makes the device you’re going to use to generate your private keys, and maybe go with an industry leader with an actual budget for security research? This was easily available information, even way back in 2021. If you were buying a car, would you compare the features of multiple brands? Would you consider buying one that didn’t have a crash test rating? This is what doing the research means.
I've been thinking and talking about this a lot with some people.
There's not a lot of incentive for people to investigate open source firmware, even if the license is unrestricted. It's largely a particular kind of autist that gets off on finding other people's mistakes and bragging about it online. Always has been.
And sure, the LLMs lower the bar to review, but it's still just *a lot of llm reviews*
good to have but it's just a single kind of audit.
So for now, third party audits are awesome and useful.

Nostur, in its current form has the best tradeoffs for me that I am aware of on iOS.
Amethyst, last time I was able to utilize it on Android had the best tradeoffs for me.
In the past, Nostur did not have the best tradeoffs, I used Primal, and Damus interchangeably but now Nostur has the better tradeoffs.
I’m sure like any market Nostr clients will have disruption, & I am sure better clients will come.
It’s not because the current clients are bad, no but rather as Nostr “grows” the devs skill sets will be bigger, the technology will improve, & we’ll see new devs implement new technologies, & techniques with more efficient tradeoffs.
And with this new market competition the current devs will also expand their skill sets too.
