A dollar is guaranteed legal tender at every bank, every exchange, every place you can go with it. Exchange accounts are frozen and funds are seized based on Bitcoin ledger history all the time. Retailers will also freeze Bitcoin coming from tainted sources. The fact that there is a concept of “tainted coins” means that Bitcoin is not fungible. Just because something may be used equivalently *in one place*, *in one manner* does not mean it is fungible. Fungibility requires it be able to be spent everywhere with the same level of assurance, in the real world, not on the blockchain. You don’t know what the word fungible means.

"You can always spend or exchange a dollar freely. But that doesn’t hold true for Bitcoin, and Silent Payments does not address that." Its quite the opposite bitcoin is fungible fiat is not. Bitcoin censorship resistance work fine. No one can stop your transaction. If they try eg miner ofac address censorship you just bump the fees and wait. Fungibility is core to Bitcoin's design.

Because innocence without power is weakness.
And this creates the frustrating reality most people secretly feel but rarely admit, terrible people often move through the world freely while conscientious people carry a double burden.
You have to build character *and* competence.
Conscience *and* strength.
Compassion *and* strategy.
That is why intelligence alone is not enough. You cannot solve a courage problem with more analysis. The jungle has its own laws.
Evil does not disappear because you correctly identified it intellectually.

AI cannot wipe an elderly persons arse, who needs it wiping, neither can it hold a dieing patients hand in theirs, as they slip from life.
Fuck AI.
Silent Payments offers me no assertion of fungibility. It is marginally better than not having it, but it is still too little too late, and missing the core issue: a basic property of money has never been privacy. It’s always been fungibility. Privacy is probably (but not certainly) a side effect of actual fungible currency. You can always spend or exchange a dollar freely. But that doesn’t hold true for Bitcoin, and Silent Payments does not address that.
It's also just a heck of a lot cheaper to use FOSS, and it allows you to evade supplier lock-in.
you keep saying that core isn’t doing anything for privacy, when silent payments is exactly that and we have many PRs that are integrating it into core.
If you mean privacy like ring signatures and fancy new crypto then that is way more complicated and less likely because its not a conservative change.

Why does kindess and helpfulness of humans never get brought up when people talk about AI competing with humans? For some of you the AI has already left you far behind.
Remember that at job interviews it is consistently shown that social fit at the company is chosen over technical fit for the role.

I'm sure this has to do with on-chain subs becoming a thing and these being tied to your nsec, non-private on chain and having the danger of UTXO dust, right? I'm not totally against using on-chain TXs as tips, but it has to be donw in an entirely different way that doesn't put a danger to Nostr and Bitcoin.
why should it be every web developer’s responsibility to improve Bitcoin privacy? That is the most obvious thing that should be Core’s job. Theoretically infinite web developers with limited time, project capital, and intellect, or one Core dev team with absurd amounts of funding who, I hope for all our sakes as people who hold Bitcoin, are the best and the brightest?
It was a memory leak and a security update. None of my websites were running properly, but I think I fixed it.
Sorry, for the inconvenience.
You guys no you’ve been able to make calls in oxchat right?
Like Amy didn’t do it first…
I’m not mad that someone sent me money. I’m sad that people are building protocols to reduce bitcoin privacy at scale when it could have one tweak to fix it. Lots of straw man arguments from you here.

I don't really care that much, either way, as I mostly use my own clients. It's harder on users who find it a higher hurdle to switch, or who have been promoting Wisp to their friends and now stand there looking silly.

Okay let me put it this way. You are a very smart guy, very familiar with Bitcoin, more equipped than 99% of the world’s population to deal with any issues that Bitcoin might introduce you to. But you are furious that someone has sent you Bitcoin the wrong way.
Now, for Bitcoin to become money, think of every illegal that might be working under the table of his bodega counter. Think of a guy named Vinnie who is a chronic alcoholic and bartender. Think of a single mother who is living in a shelter. They all need money that will *just work* for their daily lives. You say there is a solution in Silent Payments, but it isn’t finished yet. Others say there is BOLT12, which has no support. I can’t get any of these things working.
The correct place to make sure the largest number of people possible can have a good experience with Bitcoin is not in yet another wallet that nobody uses, or another script covenant for a startup that is long on dreams and claims but short on implementations. It is in Bitcoin Core. If Core implements the feature, it becomes assured for everyone. Not in some wallet I literally cannot even use on a current day MacBook or an iPhone because I don’t have or want a fucking Android phone.
