Also note that it isn't currently possible on Amethyst to set a Lightning address for zaps. In version 1.10.0 they switched instead to on-chain zaps. Ditto supports both.

In case you wondered how to actually access your BTC zap:
Disambiguated steps:
1 Take your nsec string.
2 Decode Bech32 with HRP=“nsec” → get exactly 32 raw bytes. These bytes are your private key.
3 Make 34-byte data: 0x80 + 32-byte privkey + 0x01.
4 Compute double SHA256 of those 34 bytes → get 32-byte hash.
5 Take the first 4 bytes of that hash (bytes 0-3). This is checksum.
6 Append checksum to the 34 bytes → now 38 bytes total.
7 Convert those 38 bytes to Base58 using Bitcoin alphabet (no 0OIl).
Result: WIF string starting with K or L.
Then you can use that to add to your wallet and do whatever.
So @nprofile…wywf has already removed setting a Lightning address in 1.09.2, maybe earlier.

I use Monero on multiple devices, because it is the *only* thing I transact in now. And I do it exclusively over Tor and i2p, never without a full onion circuit. And my DNS queries are DoH, also routed over onions. There’s a ton of additional latency for all my network requests. And Monero is still reliable and fast.

Nostr will be able to easily beat the social media sites but beating the video sites is going to be an uphill battle because YouTube and Rumble have basically unlimited storage while nostr requires users to pay for their own storage and storage 4k videos will be expensive.
Doesn't mean nostr won't win, because it will but it's going to take a long time. My suspicion is we will first beat the social media sites then slowly take on the video sites last.
