If the thesis is that The Adversary prevents sovereign usage of Bitcoin at the financial level (Chokepoint 2.0 etc),
how is that any different than where Monero sits *right now*?
Obviously it has greater privacy going for it, so USAGE can be less paranoid
but interface with the legacy system is still hamstrung in the exact same way.
So we have a reality where both your Monero and your self-custodied sats are not accepted by merchants because they can't use them for their own inputs.
As a result, real crypto circular economies can only develop in free jurisdictions where merchants can trade their Bitcoin / Monero for whatever inputs they need.
In the end, its only real difference between the two systems is that users dont have to worry about being tracked.

I will absolutely concede that a single jurisdiction cannot regulate Bitcoin to death.
I'm concerned about usability from *my own* perspective, because I'm not going to change jurisdictions to be able to use Bitcoin.
And if we look at it from that perspective, hashrate discussions are beside the point.
It is much more relevant whether or not the vendor I want to transact with can accept my Bitcoin.
If for regulatory reasons my vendors cannot accept my nonkyced self custodied sats (only cucked Bitcoin allowed) it isn't useful for me.
It's easy to see a future where the dominant jurisdiction prevents users escaping to bitcoin through friction and regulation, not through outright bans.
They stop it at the banking layer, not at the hash layer.
And if there's a competing BRICS type jurisdiction, they have the same concern of users escaping into a neutral money.

Two. It was a small test of 6000 sats. Fees were just under 1500. So it isn’t super-economical, but it works.
The government should serve the people. The people should not be coerced to serve the government.
These policies are unlikely to be blatant theft, it's going to be things like we are going in the UK, changing tax treatment to encourage more investment ISAs instead of cash ISAs.
This is the government coercing people to take risks that they didn't want to.
I will preach that we need to invest instead of save because of inflation (another coercive tactic btw) but now people like my mum feel pressured to use stocks and shares ISAs and only because my dad is there to help, I don't worry, but I've seen her tendency to panic and leading her to stocks and shares would otherwise be like leading her to self custody with the coldcard with no explanation.
When we think this is all "because of the times" we accept it, but it is really "by design" and that's not acceptable.
