I’m of course not saying that it is but institutions have access to more capital, have an information advantage, make up a majority of the volume, have high frequency trading bots, & other capabilities that can influence markets towards a certain direction.
Retail investors of course have influence over the direction too but to a vastly lesser degree.
Overall, I think the manner is which markets have reacted recently seems more of an indication that some force can almost unanimously determine the whole markets outcome for that day.

Have you tried Methocarbamol? It's an OTC muscle pain reliever (robaxacet), but might be prescription in USA. It helps with acute back pain for me. Combined with ASA can usually make me functional.
