It absolutely is. I think it's a sign management and advertising pushed too hard. People are already working 5.5 jobs to make ends meet and LLMs threaten that. It's not a conspiracy, office workers are getting AI assistants they are required to use. Blue collar is getting LLM HR and job scheduling. All of it is hype accelerated slop.
People don't want to be replaced by machines. But it's not even "ther takin muh job". It's what we're turning into as a society. You can't speak to any humans in really any store or chain restaurant. You get served slop and a machine has no sympathy, and if it did, the suites would turn if off immediately.
We're still waiting for prices to come down with all of the savings by using machines instead of people...
progress for the sake of progress is not a suitable answer.

It is if you're short big AI. I don't think LLMs will go anywhere. Business can integrate agents on less than $100k of hardware owned or rented. Open weight models are crushing it right now attainable for free (plus hardware).
I think industry is realizing that it's still a software efficiency issue. We can't afford to keep hogging gigawatts of power to validate our feelings and summarize our emails within seconds. But we can use way less than that to filter emails through machines, automate tasks, make menial and clear decisions, on a much slower and background workflow saving a significant amount of money and power.
