Lo scrivo anche in italiano perché credo suoni molto meglio:
A volte mi chiedono quale messaggio ci sia nei miei dipinti.
La verità è che non ne cerco uno.
Non sento l’obbligo di spiegare qualcosa con la pittura.
Ma allo stesso tempo non voglio che un mio quadro sia solo una decorazione appesa a una parete.
Quello che spero davvero è più semplice.
Vorrei che davanti a un mio dipinto qualcuno si fermasse un attimo.
Che sentisse una piccola calma interiore.
E magari, senza sapere perché, anche un filo di speranza.
Se succede questo, anche solo per pochi secondi,
allora la pittura ha già fatto abbastanza.

Sometimes people ask me what message my paintings contain.
The truth is, I’m not looking for one.
I don’t feel the obligation to explain something through painting.
But at the same time, I don’t want my work to be just decoration on a wall.
What I really hope for is simpler.
I hope that someone, standing in front of one of my paintings, pauses for a moment.
Feels a small sense of inner calm.
And maybe, without knowing why, a hint of hope.
If that happens, even just for a few seconds,
then the painting has already done enough.

The first time I saw this photograph, I stopped.
A single tree lit by an intense yellow light, coming from somewhere above and to the left.
Squeezed between the dark mass of trees behind and the fenced fields in front.
No space. No way out. And yet — that light.
I saw a message of hope in it. I still do.

Nostr doesn’t need the “right ideology.”
It needs to be useful.
Protocols don’t spread because people love decentralization.
They spread when they quietly solve small, real problems.
A group of friends.
A circle of musicians or painters.
A few florists or craftsmen sharing their work.
A niche community that just wants a place to talk.
That’s how ecosystems grow.
Not through influencers.
Not through political tribes.
Through small communities that stay —
and slowly realize the place they’re in doesn’t belong to anyone.

Secondo me c’è una piccola trappola nella premessa.
Continuiamo a pensare in termini di demografie da colpire, come se Nostr dovesse trovare la “tribù giusta” — i dev ideologici, i dissidenti politici, i ricercatori del complotto, gli imprenditori ribelli. Ma quasi nessuna tecnologia viva cresce così. Cresce quando diventa utile a qualcuno in modo semplice e concreto.
I dev che parlavano di decentralizzazione e poi si sono spostati tranquillamente su Bluesky non mi sorprendono molto. In molti casi non è mai stata davvero una posizione tecnica — era una posizione sociale. Quando cambia il vento sociale, cambiano anche loro. Succede continuamente. Probabilmente non vale la pena costruire strategie intorno a persone che seguono il vento.
Allo stesso tempo non credo affatto che sia assurdo pensare a fioristi, musicisti, biologi o perfino produttori di milkshake. In un certo senso sono molto più interessanti dei dev ideologici — proprio perché non gliene importa nulla dell’ideologia. Se uno strumento permette loro di parlare con i clienti, con la propria comunità o con un piccolo gruppo di persone fidate senza essere alla mercé di una piattaforma, allora lo usano. Questo basta.
Le persone non adottano i protocolli perché amano i protocolli.
Li adottano quando risolvono un problema piccolo ma reale.
Per questo la direzione dei gruppi, delle nicchie, dei relay tematici o semi-chiusi mi sembra molto più fertile di qualsiasi battaglia culturale. Piccoli spazi dove le persone si riconoscono: un gruppo di musicisti locali, una comunità di ricerca, un collettivo artistico, un gruppo di amici. Se funziona lì, lentamente mette radici.
I grandi nomi — Webb, Corbett e altri in quella sfera — possono portare attenzione, ma l’attenzione raramente costruisce ecosistemi. Gli ecosistemi li costruiscono le piccole comunità che restano.
Quindi sì, nulla vieta di muoversi in più direzioni allo stesso tempo. Ma se dovessi scommettere su una sola strada, non sarebbe una tribù ideologica.
Sarebbe qualcosa di molto più semplice:
piccoli gruppi di persone che trovano un posto dove parlare tra loro… e che a un certo punto si accorgono che quel posto non appartiene a nessuno.

I think there’s a small trap in the premise.
We keep trying to think in terms of demographics to target, as if Nostr just needs to find the “right tribe” — ideological devs, political dissidents, conspiracy researchers, rebellious entrepreneurs. But most living technologies don’t grow that way. They grow when they become useful to someone in a simple, concrete way.
The devs who talked about decentralization and then happily moved to Bluesky don’t surprise me much. In many cases it was never really a technical position — it was a social one. When the social pressure shifts, they shift with it. It happens all the time. It’s probably not worth building strategy around people who follow the wind.
At the same time, I don’t think it’s absurd at all to think about florists, musicians, biologists, or even milkshake producers. In a strange way they’re actually more interesting than ideological devs — because they don’t care about the ideology. If a tool lets them talk to their customers, their community, or a handful of trusted peers without being at the mercy of a platform, they’ll use it. That’s enough.
People don’t adopt protocols because they love protocols.
They adopt them because they solve a small but real problem.
That’s why the direction of groups, niches, topic-based or semi-closed relays feels much more fertile than any kind of cultural battle. Small spaces where people recognize each other: a circle of local musicians, a research community, an art collective, a group of friends. If it works there, it slowly takes root.
The big names — Webb, Corbett, and others in that sphere — can bring attention, but attention rarely builds ecosystems. Ecosystems are built by small communities that stay.
So yes, there’s nothing wrong with exploring multiple directions at once. But if I had to bet on one path, it wouldn’t be an ideological tribe.
It would be something much simpler:
small groups of people who find a place to talk to each other… and eventually realize that the place doesn’t belong to anyone.

Idea for Nostr:
What if every meaningful interaction helped a note propagate?
Not just reposts, but also:
• replies
• zaps
A reply shows engagement.
A zap shows real value (skin in the game).
Imagine a simple weighting:
repost → strong propagation
zap → medium (maybe weighted by sats)
reply → light propagation
Trending wouldn’t come from a single algorithm, but from real circulation through the social graph.
Could this work at the client level?

How do you decide the price of a painting?
In my case, I chose a living painter whose work I really admire.
With some self-criticism, I decided that my paintings were worth about half of his.
I don’t know if that’s a truly valid parameter.
But it felt honest to me.
Then I had a simple thought:
I would let reality speak.
If I couldn’t sell any paintings, the price was probably too high for the market at that moment.
If they sold immediately, maybe I was asking too little.
If they sold from time to time, I was probably somewhere close to the right balance.
And that’s exactly what happened.
And it’s still happening.
The price of art is not an absolute truth.
It’s a slow conversation between me and the people who look at my work.
And some conversations can last for years.

-Notifications are not manually updateable and are very confusing
-texts in notes are not copyable
-there is no possibility to enlarge the text
-I miss a note translation service where I can use my DeepL API
- when you go back to the timeline after clicking on notifications or something else it's annoying that it goes back to the top without staying on the point where you were reading
(what I like)
-the initial setting and his comments while waiting
-the animation of zaps received or sent
-graphic cleanliness
- the seconds to wait before sending a note because it avoids posting errors
