Freedom is a road, not a finish line. I do not need to wait until I am fully changed or fully healed before I speak about what has helped me. Even if I have only taken a few real steps, that is already something I can share.
Fear easily keeps me silent. I may think I need to be stronger, clearer, or more consistent before I have the right to say anything. But here the point is different: I am not asked to be a master, only a witness to the little freedom I have already received.
This freedom is not something I produce on my own. My effort matters, my desire matters, and my cooperation matters, but the deeper work is something God does in me. Growing in freedom is not my private achievement, but part of God’s work in my life.
That is why sharing this path can be so simple and so honest. I share because maybe my small piece of lived hope can help someone else take one more step toward freedom.

Spiritual awakening is a growing awareness of myself, of other people, and of God, and it keeps deepening over time.
It's more than psychological insight. Not only about noticing my patterns, fears, or reactions, but about becoming more open to relationship. I begin to see that other people matter to me, that I need them, and that real life happens in connection.
It's a strong challenge to stop believing that I must handle everything alone. When something hurts or overwhelms me, my instinct may be to withdraw and try to fix myself in private. But the deeper healing seems to happen when I let my struggle enter relationship with God and with other people.
God hates loneliness. Not because God rejects lonely people, but because separation and isolation damage life. We need contact, exchange, closeness, and shared life almost like we need air. In that sense, spiritual awakening means learning not to be afraid of relationship, because relationship is one of the places where God brings us back to life.

In our relationship, God first of all wants to be in contact with me. It matters to Him more than my success in doing everything right.
I can easily imagine God as distant, cold, and interested only in control. Then faith becomes heavy, and trust becomes almost impossible. But if contact comes first, then even the God’s commandments are no longer pressure, but a promise of fruitful change.
This also changes how I understand prayer. Prayer is not only me talking, explaining myself, or repeating my own thoughts. The deeper question is whether I really want contact with God, or whether I only want to hear myself. That is why listening matters so much, and why silence needs to be shaped by a true image of God, not just by my own inner noise.
When I truly want contact with God, He responds. Not always quickly, not always in a way I can feel, and not always in the moment I expect. Still, the desire itself already matters, and even in dry or quiet times I trust that I am not ignored or abandoned.

God’s will is not something I need to fear. It may go against my own plans or wants or habits, but it is never against me.
God’s will is love. It is whatever truly serves life, protects it, helps it grow, and leads it toward real good. So when I look for God’s will, I am not looking for pressure, but for the deeper good of my life.
This also helps me separate God’s will from other things that are important, but not exactly the same. Some rules may belong to the life of the Church or to a shared community, and they can still matter, but that does not mean every rule is itself the direct will of God in the deepest sense.
Often we confuse God with the voice of pressure, fear, or constant “you must.” But God is not an enemy of my freedom, He's the one who wants my happiness. His will is wise, loving, and concerned with what really helps me live.

The path to freedom is not clean or easy. It asks me to face truth, weakness, repair, and daily honesty.
I do not walk this road alone, though. God stays close to my weakness and helps me pass through hard things without pretending they are not hard.
Step 11 turns more openly toward prayer and meditation. The point is to stay in real contact with God and learn to look for His will in a more conscious way.
Very simply put, God’s will is what truly serves life. Not only survival here and now, but the deeper good of my life, your life, and the kind of life that is meant for eternity.

Step 10 is probably the most misunderstood, the most underutilised and the most powerful one. It's a secret spiritual weapon. First of all it's a tool for everyday use, even multiple times a day. Most of it happens in just seconds in my thoughts. But it can change a lot.
I already admitted and painfully experienced many times, that my self-will is poisonous to me. But it's impossible to completely get rid of it just by myself. Step Ten is a simple method to accept God's help in this. An impossible struggle turns to quite an easy spiritual hygiene.
When I notice any disturbance of my inner peace, I try to pause and realise, that if not for my selfishness, fear or dishonesty, I wouldn't be struggling. Then I ask God to remove my defects and show me His will, which is simply better than mine. If I caused any damage, I make amends. If possible, I share this situation with someone. Next, I try to be useful to other human beings.
The serenity is back before I know it.

Truth can hurt, but that does not mean it is bad. Pain is a sign that something important is happening, and that I am touching reality instead of running from it.
The important thing is what I do with that pain. If I turn it into shame and self-attack, it can crush me. But if I stay calm and honest, it can help me see both what I did wrong and what was going on inside me when I did it.
What good was I trying to reach for, even in a bad way? Maybe I wanted safety, expression, relief, or care, but I reached for it in a way that hurt someone. That does not excuse the harm, but it helps me stay in truth without falling into despair.
This continuous introspection is not only about noticing mistakes. It is also about learning what I am really hungry for, so that I can seek it in a better and freer way.

Freedom is not easy. It requires practice, effort, and truth.
Often my issue is not the wrong I do, but the lies I tell myself about it. How I soften it, explain it away, or pretend it is not so bad. I don't want to call myself names, but simply admit the truth about my defects. Stop ignoring them, but also stop trying to fix them on my own.
This is what Step Ten is for. It invites me to keep checking myself honestly, so I do not slip back into denial. When I allow myself to see the truth, I share it with Someone and with someone, so the change can be continued.

Making amends can easily become false if I turn it into a dramatic gesture that mainly serves my self-image. Real amends are meant to help another person and confirm a real change in me, not let me feel noble, heroic, or relieved for a moment.
This step asks for thoughtfulness and, very importantly, for someone else’s perspective. There is no single formula, because every situation is different, and what looks brave from the inside may in fact be impulsive, self-serving, or useless in practice.
Amends are not only a burden, but a way of celebrating a new life. Even if I begin simply because I know I should, the deeper point is to grow into a freer way of living, where doing what is right becomes less a performance and more a genuine expression of change.

Making amends is not about humiliating myself or punishing myself. It begins with contrition, which means facing the sad truth that I harmed a relationship and no longer hiding from it.
If repair is possible, the most honest beginning may be a simple question: what can I do to help make this right. The point is not to compensate everything perfectly, because that is often impossible, but to make a real gesture of respect, care, and responsibility within the limits of what is actually possible.

What matters in making amends is not getting relief as quickly as possible, but helping life return to a relationship that has been damaged. Before I speak or act, I need to ask whether this step will truly serve the other person and the relationship, rather than simply making my own burden easier to carry.
That is why I should not make such decisions alone. When I am full of guilt, shame, or emotional pressure, I can easily confuse my need for relief with honesty, courage, or love. I need someone steady and trustworthy who can help me look at the situation more objectively, weigh the context, and see what may help and what may only cause more harm.
This gives Step Nine a more patient and humane shape. Sometimes the right answer is not never, but not yet, and always the first good step is to seek support before trying to repair anything directly. Even then, I am still moving in the right direction, because careful and honest steps can prepare the ground for deeper healing later.

I grow and thrive when I offer something of myself and stay open enough to receive as well. This seems to be written into our nature.
If I stay honest and in touch with myself, I cannot remain indifferent to the harm I have done. The lack of life in another person begins to hurt, especially when I know I had some part in causing it. That is why making amends can be something surprisingly positive. It can become a quiet celebration that now I am able to do something different from the harm I once did.
A real apology should not silence the other person before they speak, and making amends should not become a way of proving to myself that I am still admirable.
If I build my worth on how I judge myself, I will keep swinging between pride and shame. Something deeper is needed, a sense of identity grounded not in what I am like, but in who I am.

THRAK is yet another beast. I agree that as a standalone album it's better than Beat and TOAPP. Discipline stands out for me though. I think it's actually my favourite album of all albums. But I also like to treat the 1980s as a whole, because there are incredible gems on all three, and it was a genuine supergroup, flawless, every member a virtuoso. It amazes me to this day what they could create, just four of them.

Change becomes real only when it begins to touch the people I have harmed. It is one thing to turn away from old behaviour inwardly. It is another to face the unfinished past and become willing to repair at least part of what I damaged.
This is difficult because I can get lost in two opposite illusions. I can try to fix everything perfectly, as if I could erase the past and save myself. Or I can give up completely and use the impossibility of full repair as an excuse to do nothing. The healthier way seems quieter and more honest. I do what is actually possible, without force and without performance, because making amends is less about looking good and more about becoming inwardly consistent, peaceful, and faithful to the change that has begun in me.
Sometimes direct repair will not be possible, and some doors will stay closed. Even then, the task does not disappear. I may still need to grieve what cannot be repaired directly and look for another real way to bring good where I once brought harm. Otherwise one part of my life remains pulled backwards into the past instead of being freed for the present.

At this point change stops being theoretical and becomes concrete. It is no longer enough to see the truth about myself, admit it, or even feel sorry for it; at some point I have to face the people I harmed and become willing to make things right.
This is difficult, because I can treat amends either as a punishment or avoid them altogether. But both ways miss something important: making amends is not meant to be a grim extra burden, but a real part of healing, a way of taking responsibility and letting inner change become visible in actual life.
Sometimes I will not be able to repair the damage directly, and sometimes returning to a person I harmed may not be possible or wise. Even then, I am not released from the task, because the point is not to ease my guilt cheaply, but to let this change take root in me so that I stop hiding from the harm I caused and begin to live differently.
In that sense, Step Eight asks for courage. It asks me to stop settling for reflection without action and to trust that God can use even this painful work to restore honesty, dignity, and a deeper kind of freedom.

I was made for love, and recovery means becoming more fully the person I was meant to be. I do not discover this path by analysing it from a distance. I begin to understand only when I risk living in its spirit, and then I find myself doing things I would not have expected of myself, things that bring life, lift other people up, and carry hope.
That is why humility matters so much here. If I want real change, I have to accept that relationship comes first: trust in Higher Power, openness to guidance, and the willingness to risk following where that guidance leads. Without that risk there is no deep relationship, and without relationship there is no real transformation and healing.

Real change seems to begin not when I wait for a miracle, but when I become willing to learn. What matters is a humble posture of a student: listening to the Teacher, allowing myself to be guided, and accepting that meaningful change requires more than desire or desperation.
My pain, confusion, helplessness, and even my mistakes can become a real starting point, but only if they lead me into that posture of learning rather than into passive waiting. I cannot expect God to fix me magically while I remain unchanged in my thinking, because positive change asks for attention, trust, and a willingness to mature on the road.
Step Seven becomes a humble request for help and a willingness to follow the Teacher. Without that guidance, I may want change, but I will not know how to grow into it.

After becoming ready to let go of my defects, I am invited to turn to God in humility and ask him to remove what still keeps me from real life.
This step is not about becoming more polished or more ideal. It is about being made new, awakened, and brought back into reality, because the old way of living is a kind of sleep that slowly drains life and meaning out of me.
I cannot do this step without relationship. To ask God in humility means that I begin to know him well enough to trust that he wants to heal me, not shame me, and that what he offers is not mere improvement but a new kind of life.
For me, that is the heart of Step Seven: not self-perfection, but rebirth. I ask God to remove what blocks life in me, so that I can become more real, more alive, and more able to live with purpose and love.

Willingness is not only about seeing my defects, but about letting go of them. I may admit that something is wrong, and still cling to it, because even my defects and old patterns seem to offer me something I am afraid to lose.
Freedom begins when I stop trying to possess what keeps me bound. That includes not only obvious faults, but also the beliefs, attachments, and familiar inner stories that have become part of how I define myself.
I cannot force this surrender by willpower alone. I have to loosen my grip, shift the centre away from my problem and back to God, and trust that in this relationship something in me can truly change.
This is why Step Six feels like both loss and freedom. I let go of control, of fixed outcomes, even of the need to know how and when I will change, and I keep returning to the One who can lead me further than I can lead myself.

Change can happen without violence. I do not have to force myself into transformation, and God does not work on me by crushing me. Real power is not violence, pressure, or force, but love strong enough to lead me into change.
This step does not mean that I sit still and wait for something magical to happen. It means that I become willing to let God into the place where I need healing, and that I stay engaged in the process instead of trying to control it all by myself.
There is risk in this, because trust is always a risk. But if I keep my distance, nothing really changes. If I let God come close, then even my repentance can become an adventure, not of self-punishment, but of hope.
I think that is what I am being invited to in Step Six: to stop relying on pressure, fear, and ego, and to trust that love has more power to change me than force ever could. The process may be slow, and it may unsettle me, but it opens the door to a different kind of life.

Change does not have to be grim, exhausting self-improvement. It can be approached as an adventure — something that happens when I stop fighting myself and allow a real transformation to unfold, one that I did not design and cannot fully control. There is something freeing in that surrender.
Step Six asks me for readiness, not perfection. I do not need to fix myself before moving on. I only need enough honesty to admit that some things in me are not leading to life, and enough humility to become willing to let God remove them.
This step is not about blaming myself or forcing change through willpower. It is about taking responsibility, letting go of denial, and entering a real process of healing, trusting that transformation is something God does in me, not something I can manufacture on my own. If I could have sorted this out by myself, I would have done it long ago.

Honesty is not just a matter of saying the right words. It means speaking from a deeper place, not only from my head, but from the part of me that has truly met the truth.
Healing begins when I stop managing appearances and stop trying to say what sounds acceptable. At the very least, I have to stop lying to myself; but if I want real change, I also need to bring that truth to God and to another person I can trust.
That person matters. I need someone who will understand, who will not judge me, and who will not be harmed by what I say, because this step is meant to serve healing, not just to give me temporary relief.
This kind of honesty is not about perfection or about naming every detail out of fear. It is about saying what needs to be said in a way that serves recovery, because what stays hidden keeps growing in my mind and gains power over me.
Shame makes me want to stay silent, but silence does not set me free. What I finally speak aloud begins to return to its real size, and that is where recovery can move forward.

Seeing the truth is not yet the same as surrendering to it. I can name my defects in private, study their roots, and even understand their consequences, but as long as I keep them locked inside, I am still protecting them.
There is something freeing in saying the truth aloud to another person. What I am ashamed of begins to lose some of its power when it is spoken plainly, without excuses or performance. In that moment I become more honest, more real, and less alone.
This step is not about formality, and it is not about saying as much as possible. It is about admitting the exact nature of my wrongs, so that I stop living in half-truths. What I only analyse can still keep control over me. What I honestly admit can finally begin to change.

Step Five shows that change does not happen in secrecy. We admit to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the true nature of our wrongs. Facing the truth about myself is painful, but it is also the place where hope begins.
This step should not be forced, but it also cannot be skipped. If I want healing, I cannot stay alone with what I have seen in Step Four. I need to speak it aloud, honestly and simply, before someone I can trust.
What matters is not a public confession, but a real one. Not something automatic, not a formality, but an honest meeting with the truth. Support on this road is not optional. Without it, I am far too likely to hide from myself again.
