Last Notes npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss There’s social pressure, and there’s getting your head chopped off. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss of course you *can*, but crying about cultural appropriation is pussified npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Few thoughts about the Odyssey which I haven't seen though I might at some point, probably on an airplane: 1. Don't cry about who is cast as whom or "cultural appropriation." It's a work of art, Nolan can do whatever the fuck he wants. Your remedy is not to see it if it doesn't interest you. 2. If you're pointing out the hypocrisy of other people crying about cultural appropriation when the culture being appropriated is non-white, save your breath. Leftists don't give two shits about hypocrisy, and it's not even really hypocrisy to them since they have long ago abandoned rational argument and logical consistency. 3. If you're complaining about the hypocrisy (fruitless) or mad about the cultural appropriation (dumb) online, you're feeding the controversy, and the controversy is good for box office. That's because once it becomes coded as "good" by one team and "bad" by another, not only does it get tons of free publicity, but the cost/benefit is asymmetric. The people who would have bought a ticket but didn't due to perceived politics are fewer in number than the people who wouldn't have bought a ticket but did for the simple reason that there are more people who don't buy tickets for any given movie, i.e., the pool you're drawing from (non-buyers) is much larger than the one you're losing (would-be buyers). npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Can be arranged! npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Healthcare cannot be a fundamental right like free speech because it requires other people to do something for you. To treat you, pay for you, etc. That's always got to be voluntary. Whether people *ought* to care about those who couldn't or more commonly didn't care for themselves is IMO a legitimate philosophical discussion to be hate. But a "right"? Doesn't work. Also, obviously people will get sick and die no matter what the state does. I know rich people who spent millions on care only to die in misery after untold surgeries, treatments, etc. The idea that we should dedicate vast resources to ameliorate something that can only really be prevented by the person themselves seems crazy the way it's playing out. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Why am I talking? I made a substantive post about something on my mind which you unsolicitedly trolled rather than engaging on the substance. I am here to say what’s on my mind, that’s obvious. I’ll ask again, what are you doing here? #nevent1q…gcp0 npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss LOL “hide and run” — anon troll accusing someone who puts his name and photo on every post of hiding and running! Why are you even here? #nevent1q…x5rv npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Trolling just to troll, adding zero of value, got it npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Think this dude is alleging I used AI to write this post. Not true. I’m a professional writer, never used AI to compose anything, don’t need it, don’t want it. AI doesn’t own m-dashes, certain phrases, etc. I just write what comes into my mind, not going to go out of my way to avoid things just because they overlap. #nevent1q…64k7 npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss People talk about money printing by the banks (every new mortgage or loan is a print), but I would bet that's rivaled, if not exceeded, by the healthcare industrial complex (HIC). Think about it, every time a boomer gets a scan, a checkup, a procedure, the government has to issue a transfer to HIC. Not even talking about the Learing Centers which siphon off hundreds of billions collectively via fraud, but the legal, "legitimate" health care system which provides actual services. I know boomers whose entire lives revolve around seeing yet another specialist, getting another test, talking endlessly about health issues. They are like a marauding army seizing enormous amounts of wealth from wage earners and savers and transferring it to the HIC. The system almost seems set up by design for this purpose. And they are oblivious because it's all "covered." The problem isn't merely that old people get sick a lot and need medical care, but that old people are incentivized to seek it as a first rather than last resort, and the system is set up to treat this as normal. Your doctor with his pills and potions, scans and procedures is in charge of your health, not you via eating right, exercise, attitude, habits. That's one problem. Another problem is the system takes advantage of old people, endlessly prescribing HIC solutions to lifestyle problems and stoking their fears to keep them as customers. Politicians call these "entitlements" and warn of "unsustainability", but it doesn't to the heart of the problem which is HIC-capture that sets the prices, optimizes for extraction and controls the messaging. People believe *health*care is how you stay healthy rather than something you only use if absolutely necessary IF you get sick, which you do everything in your power (and you have a lot of power in this area) to prevent or at least delay for a long time. Just changing the HIC to SIC (sickness industrial complex) would go a long way. It's not how you preserve your health, it's where you go when your efforts have failed, and it's a weak substitute for success. I don't know exactly how much money is siphoned legally from the tax payer/saver/wage earner to the HIC, but I do know it's an unfathomable amount. I also suspect that's why the vaccine cult has so much power, part of why the covid response was so all-encompassing, why anyone who spoke out against the mRNA was demonized, fired, excommunicated and destroyed. It's not just a few large companies who spend ad dollars on CNN or whatever, it's a multi-trillion dollar extraction engine, and the entities positioned to receive the spoils have almost limitless unchecked power. Inflation comes from money printing, but it's not like the treasury just runs sheet after sheet of hundred dollar bills and dumps it into the economy. It's the bank reserves enabling issuance via loans, yes, but also this incredibly escalating healthcare black hole, fed largely by old people who are getting it for "free". Ironically many younger people, who are not completely covered have their savings wiped out by it and fall by the wayside as inflation gets worse every year, advocate for universal sickcare, not realizing that the reason it's so expensive and inflation so severe is in large part due to the universal sickcare (for old people) in the first place. The solution to this would be to open sickcare to the free market, not cover it at all, let private insurance and private providers compete for business. This would coincide with lower taxes on everyone, less national debt, lower inflation, cheaper sickcare (no endless demand backstopped by govt dollars.) Young people would be more able to afford sickcare when needed too. Of course, many old people would suffer and die sooner. More families would go broke paying for their elderly parents during the transition phase before the savings from lower inflation and lower taxes offset the cost of private insurance (that would be cheaper because prices would come down.) That's always the problem -- going from the obviously broken, catastrophic, unsustainable state of affairs to a much better, saner, fairer, more sustainable ones involves real short-term pain. That's how parasites survive, make the cost of getting rid of them painful enough that no one does anything about it until they consume the entire organism. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Did they try "password"? #nevent1q…4l7q npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss bullish #nevent1q…sf34 npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss So you're saying OJ won't kill you? #nevent1q…6xhw npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Yeah I just kind of threw in gravity but how is electron movement not perpetual motion? npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss As someone who takes language literally and believes in its logic, this has been a hard truth for me to grasp/accept. But once you see it, it's obviously, self-evidently so. #nevent1q…daet npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss People are driven by incentives, don't let language fool you. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Went away for 11 days, came back, was smoking a cigar on my balcony, and a pigeon brushed by my head very close. Was like WTF, then noticed an egg sitting in an empty pot near the railing. Now I look out the window, and there’s the pigeon sitting on it, and there’s two eggs. Not thrilled to have a pigeon taking over my small cigar smoking lounge/herb garden, but don’t have the heart to do anything about it. The empty pot is in the corner, away from the herbs, and I’m going away again next week for 12 days. Suicidal empathy probably, but assuming these dudes will hatch and fly away. https://blossom.primal.net/3e5a36d5ff8950ab3afd792949bbc68e0206f4db44265a05e6affc963248444b.jpg npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss EU chat control passing in the shady way it did is good news. They were spying anyway, now the tech cos have to show their hands by complying or not. Second order effect is incentive for freedom tech innovation/adoption. This is what winning looks like — desperate flailing and overreach of illegitimate authorities. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss A lot of you are fake and full of shit. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Whenever economic problems arise, I like to ask the village idiot what he thinks should be done about it. #nevent1q…ntg7 npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss @nprofile…xr40 knows what I'm talking about https://blossom.primal.net/b9919c4a722cfea98aa48772b4869ebf5b8cac0db4e8d4337a1102febc040d45.png npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Ha --we'll see npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss You joke but there's truth in that. Banks are coming after him IMO because STRC was a real threat. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Remember when MSTR mooned, and Saylor was CIA? npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss maybe it's that npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss no one is still taking covid boosters, right? npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Good article. Would just argue SpaceX is being valued on the VAST future potential, not present earnings, and future potential is relatively uncapped in this one case. The AI companies are pretty hard to justify given it's almost a commodity at this point. Of course the numbers would be very different if we had a market-based hurdle rate rather than the FED. I also watched The Great Taking, and while it scared the shit out of me, I think it's not really saying anything we don't already know, namely that IF things break down badly, anything you don't physically (or mentally) hold will be a legal claim and nothing more. Think of the Palisades fires -- you can sue the insurance company for non-payment, but you no longer have a house, and you are reliant on third parties to enforce your contract . And the only thing ensuring your claims have real value are incentives -- they won't default on your shares or bonds because that would be catastrophic for their own portfolios and those of their friends and families too. Mutually assured destruction is what keeps the system afloat. But once things get so out of whack that there's nothing to lose, the incentives break down, and the great taking occurs. I think it definitely COULD get to that point, and when it does there probably won't be much warning, but in the meantime you have to live in the world as it is, pay the fiat bills, etc. because that time could be 5, 10 or 20 years away or happen never. Just make sure you have some insurance in the form of a bearer instrument rather than a claim. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss There are no socialists -- every one of them is stingy af when it comes to their own property. The ideology of socialism is just a framework that justifies their meddling. They are a bunch of meddlers. They are miserable and they want to spread it to everyone else. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss That's not capitalism. That's the law of the jungle. Capitalism implies property rights. Without property rights, there is no capitalism. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss How can private citizens "own" anything unless there are rules protecting private property? That's what it means to own something, that someone else is not allowed to take if from you with force, i.e., they can only convince you to part with it *voluntarily*. If I can steal your property, then there is no ownership. And it's not capitalism. That's why capitalism does not mean "state of nature". It's the natural order of things only when certain conditions are in place. Laws are necessary. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss I agree, capitalism is not about moralizing, it's just a natural state of affairs when people are left to trade and exchange value. But theft and fraud are NOT part of capitalism because the exchange is not voluntary. Capitalism needs *some* top down intervention, e.g., a legal system that punishes crime, but so what? That doesn't mean we should be redistributing wealth indiscriminately. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Capitalism doesn't need to be tried, it's the default state of affairs when people are free to exchange goods and services voluntarily. Conflating that with what happens when people capture parts of the system and rent-seek is the sleight of hand. There will always be rent seeking and crony capitalism but it's a baby/bathwater situation. The alternative (indiscriminate forced wealth redistribution) is all bathwater. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Common sleight of hand is to conflate capitalism with crony capitalism. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Excerpt from latest podcast. Link to full: https://www.chrisliss.com/p/preference-falsification https://v.nostr.build/PPiykXesOe51q8ky.mp4 npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss If you bought the credit, you traded fiat for a promise in fiat. If you sold the credit, you traded a promise to pay in fiat for bitcoin. How could the BTCTCs get margin called in that scenario? They seem to be at greater risk for a margin call in the event of dollar deflation. #nevent1q…re8p npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss What’s up with all the low-quality AI reply bots? npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss The communists will probably try to burn me at the stake eventually but think I’m gonna take up golf this fall. Got a friend who wants to do it, knows a cheap 9-hole course. Almost nothing I’d rather do than play a sport outside in the fresh air. Got into Padel 15 months ago and am playing 3x a week. Reminds me of when I used to play basketball all the time in my late 20s in LA almost 30 years ago. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Congrats! npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Listen to the Arch Independent Podcast episode on Epstein. I actually now think Kash Patel, Bongino and Trump when he said it was a hoax were telling the truth. Not that Epstein didn't do a lot of what he was alleged to have done, but not at the behest of governments or intelligence agencies. When he was asked in August of 2024 whether he'd release the files Trump said he'd do it, but in a very non-committal way. Maybe afterward they claimed they'd do it as it surely reonsated with voters, but it wasn't a huge part of the campaign. And the warmongers seem pretty disappointed in the scope of the Iran conflict. I just think "He's owned by Putin" "Israel controls him!" "He's being blackmailed with the pee pee tape!" is so tired at this point. We should just judge him on his performance like any other president. Let's see how the Iran fallout plays out. Better or worse than the status quo ante? Once we find out that's the basis for the evaluation. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss And that was the point of the OP. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss I’m saying you can’t be a freedom fundamentalist. Freedom is the freedom to be wrong. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Right, depends upon what the consequences are for dissent. If you call someone a racist who disagrees with you and by “racist” you mean anyone reading should excommuniucate that person from their lives including their employer, you are advocating for coercion. If by “ought” you mean in your opinion you think it would benefit them, but there should be no added consequence except foregoing those benefits, then yes. I mean you can say or advocate for whatever you want, consequences or not, but my point is if you are a freedom fundamentalist, you’re really not for freedom. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss You can say what others ought NOT to do if it interferes with you, but you can’t say what they ought to believe or do. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Think there can be substantive discussion about what level of top-down control is ideal for maintaining conditions of bottom-up prosperity (the only kind). I’m for the minimum amount necessary and think zero leads to communism as people overcorrect. But whether I am right or wrong is a matter of how aligned I am with reality not whether it puts me in the “good” or “bad” camp, according to the particular tribal edicts of Twitter or Nostr. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss It’s not wrong, so long as you are not purporting to say what someone else ought to be doing. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Both are fake, empty tribal signaling. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Found out the other day I have a screw loose. Literally, dental implant started wobbling. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss MSTR’s coins are still part of the network. They just have contracts with preferred shareholders to pay them in fiat later for fiat provided now. Investors in the common have contractual ownership over future balance sheet assets. Both are taking on counterparty risk of course but the network itself doesn’t care. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss People on Nostr calling you a statist is like people on woke Twitter calling you a racist. It’s meant as a way to disparage your character and dismiss you totally but no one cares anymore. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss I don’t care about Bitcoin. I just care about living a good life. It just so happens Bitcoin creates the right incentives and the opportunity to live as you’d like us under threat from bad ones. But don’t put the cart before the horse. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Older I get, the more distaste I have for puritans, especially around the subject of freedom tech. How can you be a freedom fundamentalist? Contradiction in terms. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Two contradictory thoughts about the spectacle on the White House lawn: 1. Bread and Circuses 2. You can unapologetically do things in America npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Agree with the first part, but why would he be “compromised?” Just seems like that’s something the legacy media has repeated endlessly from Russiagate to the Epstein Files without basis. I mean I’m sure he’s looking out for his backers like all politicians but the “compromised” thing just seems facile to me. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss One reason a dog makes such a good friend to a person is you can both comfortably walk the same pace. Contrast with having say a pet snail -- would be too frustrating. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss People are salty because they missed the trade the first time, happy to see the price get knocked down now. Most of the vitriol is just pettiness IMO. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Haven't eaten Portobellos since npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Saw that, was wondering what it was about too npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss This is fucking retarded #nevent1q…tfy6 npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss I've given up convincing brainwashed people that Trump is just a president to be evaluated on the merits like any other, that he'll do some good, some bad, that one should only believe what one can verify, etc. The TDS is so crazy now, there is no hope to get through. So I'm stepping back and trying to convey the depth of the TDS to people who don't have it, so they understand the extent to which people have been brainwashed in this regard. Again, it's not really about Trump per se -- he's just a politician, he's not your friend or family or anyone important in your life. But that people can be so thoroughly brainwashed about what's going on is dangerous. Voltaire's "those who can make you believe absurdities can make you commit atrocities" is in play. People, normal, regular, "upstanding" people believe absolutely insane shit, and I'm not talking about denying the moon landing (I'm 20 percent in that camp) or flat earth -- those beliefs are not a problem and actually good for the discourse. Question everything, trust nothing, etc. What's insane is people believe political edicts, believe other people are evil, it's like we're in the pre-enlightenment middle ages, and the church is telling them to burn the witches and who will wind up in heaven and hell. I'm not sure if it was the mass formation psychosis during covid that traumatized people and pushed them over the edge, or whether it started earlier the race hustling of the Obama years, the election of Trump in the first place, the excommunications from polite society if you said the wrong thing on social media. It doesn't really matter when or why. I'm just getting a bit uneasy with how many people's brains are truly broken beyond repair, the impossibility of ever getting through and the weaponization of this zombification. People worry about CBDCs or surveillance or whatever, but those things are all downstream of a compliant populace, and the easiest way to get people to comply is have them believe in an insane narrative that is impossible to puncture or challenge. Maybe I need to stay off Twitter and stop talking to people about their worldviews as it relates to geopolitics, but then you wonder whether you wake up one day in a dystopia that people not only wanted but insisted was essential -- for the greater good. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Don't know why but have been shocked especially of late by the brainwashing. Was talking with someone with TDS, asked her what policies specifically are you against, she said putting people "in cages" "treating them like animals". I said you know Obama deported more than Trump. She said, yes but he deported bad people, Trump's deportations "are not vetted." I asked what basis she had for believing that, and she admitted there was none. So Obama deported more people than Trump, and forced deportation of someone who presumably doesn't want to be deported entails holding facilities (cages) and force. I asked why the emotional language (animals, cages) around Trump's admittedly lower deportation rates, she says, "Just because the other guy did it, doesn't make it right!" I said, yes, but you never once mentioned Obama's deportations, and when I asked you about policies, you mentioned Trump's and used emotional lanaguage (cages, animals). She said you can't really think the people around Trump are smart, that Hegseth, he's the worst! I know it's comical in a way, but I'm feeling a little disturbed how deeply this runs. I don't care about Trump per say, but they have turned people into unthinking zombies. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss You might want to turn on this Djokovic match -- insanely high level, now in the fifth set. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss that's exactly what I was getting at -- all the EV is in the long tail that you'll never see. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Djokovic playing like the GOAT so far today. Most of them were some kind of tax/banking/loan emergency or cash windfall I needed to follow up on asap. All of them sounded like real people at real companies/government entities. Realized afterwards that if some ACTUAL govt entity or company needs to warn me about something, can't get through on voicemail, I'd never believe it. As AI gets better at these scams, it'll obsolete email and text for that purpose as well. Snail mail is the last remaining refuge for entities like the IRS, and eventually the scammers will probably figure out a way to kill that too. IOW, the scammers will set us free via plausible deniability. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Last night, while reading in bed, heard the faint buzz of a mosquito. Saw it on the wall few feet above. Tried to smash it with my book, but it got away, went up to the ceiling which is like 12 feet high in this old apartment. There was no way I could turn out the lights and go to bed with it there -- it would torment me all night. What could I do? I saw my ragged old Sudoku book, maybe 80 pages, soft cover, 7 inches by five inches, removed the pen, flipped it up toward the mosquito. Just missed. It moved a couple feet away, still on the ceiling. Heather from the other room (it's now 1 am and for God knows what reason she's still working) yells after hearing the book slap the ceiling and wood floor loudly, saying it's waking up the old guy who lives upstairs. But she's not realizing what's at stake. The mosquito is still there, not moving, I pick up the Sudoku book again, flip it harder in its direction. Boom! The outer sheets slap against it, killing it instantly, falls to the floor. Heather is pissed, comes in, "Now you've woken him up, hear him walking around." Tell her she's underestimating the epic and heroic thing I just achieved. She says she doesn't care. But I'm posting about it here because it was in fact fucking epic. I killed that fucker with a Sudoku with hail mary type of throw, and both of us slept undisturbed as a result. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Lyn Alden's sci-fi book (reads like an action movie script) is pretty good. And yet it still has the energy of a "public square" to me. Twitter, I'm not sure what it's become. I post less and less there, not because I'm a purist or "it's fiat" or anything stupid like that. It's just feels dead, the energy is gone, there's no juice to it any more. Heard about a couple that takes care of dogs in an area that's 15 degrees cooler by the coast, but they had to meet him first make sure he was a good fit. It was like a job interview of sorts. So we show up there today, meet the couple, they give us a tour of the place, very nice overgrown plot with trees, shade and a cool stream. Oscar's doing great, sniffing around, meets their 15-YO dog that lives there full time, they sniff each other uneventfully, everything's fine, they're commenting on how handsome he is. Then he's walk under the patio table, crouches down, takes a shit. Heather says sorry, reaches for the bags, they're like don't worry about it, kind of goes with the territory. Long story short, Oscar took a shit on the floor during his job interview, still landed the gig. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss excerpt from latest podcast: https://v.nostr.build/tjnElhGoSXB1GjsC.mp4 Full podcast is here: https://www.chrisliss.com/p/would-you-like-to-learn-more-about npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Too early to judge -- project is definitely not occupying Iran and running it, but probably more to do with global energy flows, China, etc. We'll see if it was a stupid idea or not. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Ha, no, not of you post, I mean that account that follows and unfollows every few days. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss We can be pretty sure the Iraq War was catastrophic, for example. We don't know the whole story, but we know the price tag, the amount of people killed and it's hard to find the benefits. With this operation, we really don't know, but we'll probably have an idea in time. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss but I'm not MAGA, never said it was justified and never called Iranians or Venezuelans savages, so not only do you (like everyone else) not know what's going on, you're making things up. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss How do you know? The legacy media (lead propagandists) are mostly shitting on the war, in stark contrast to wars past. That doesn't mean it'll work out, I have no idea. But neither do you. And neither do they. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss It's possible, but you could easily be wrong. You don't know really know the facts on the ground except through biased second and third hand reporting and social and corporate media propaganda. Once the propaganda machine has moved on, and the results are in, you'll know. No point in reacting now. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Seriously, what even is the purpose of that? npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Justified is the wrong framing. It's not "justified," it's a choice. That choice might well be the product of prior bad choices we made, but the present circumstances are the present circumstances. We might face better choices had we not made catastrophically bad ones in the past. And still the choice to initiate regime change now might be catastrophic. Or it might be warranted. We won't know until the results are in. npub1dtf79g6grzc48jqlfrzc7389rx08kn7gm03hsy9qqrww8jgtwaqq64hgu0 Chris Liss Friend of mine who is IMO the best documentary-style podcaster on politics around did a deep dive into the Epstein Files. Of course, knee-benders are also losers, those who compromise their ideals entirely are lost.
