The Blue Racer is not a separate species, but a tast, bluish subspecies of the North American racer. It's famous for its speed and sleek body, making it one of the quickest snakes in its rangecapable of bursts of movement that help it escape predators and catch prey quickly.

Juveniles look completely different from adults. Young Blue Racers often have blotched or patterned bodies that help them camouflage better, but as they grow, they gradually turn into the smooth bluish-gray adults.
Even though they can look intimidating due to their size and speed, they are generally not aggressive toward humans and will usually flee if given space.
