I would say most ism describe a way of life. But is not per se dogmatic. You can follow it dogmatic. But a free mind takes the freedom to test steps within a way of life.
Dogmatic would be to act without questioning. But most isms are based on questions and how to answer them. So to say that isms are inherently dogmatic, I would disagree with.

My explanation is that whatever bulevard medium needs to catch as many eyeballs as possible, so they can sell their addvertisement space at a higher price.
Therefore journalists are nuged to write very exceptional stories. And for this they want to be the first to publish and a backgroundcheck stands against fast publishing.
This is why there is bullevard and there is quality journalism, which is usually slower but writes based on more facts instead of attention.
This is why some press always will write extreme (and even false) titles and articles.
I think it is our job to choose media outlets, that have a good trackrecord. Since this is usually based on strategic decisions. Not luck.
Migration to the US was there always since europeans started migrating there. So there is no special change since then, which could be a reason for increasing measle numbers.
I do not care about some news looking for spectacle everywhere. 1 death is hardly a case for anything.
I think for most needs one can find option within Linux. But it is true, that not everything comes out of the box. But depends also on the distro. I heared Alpine Linux comes with security in mind. And this distro is the base of PostmarketOS.

But I think currently I am not yet in the threat model of a person that gets attacked by sufisticated states actors.
My main concern is built in telemetry and software freedom. And with Googles move to close Android for third party app stores will be a big hit for Free Software on Android.
Therefore I am happily switching for an operating system, which is not controled by a surveillance company.
Since I know that security can be improved on free systems, while privacy can not be inforced the same way on secure systems.
Free can be secure but privacy is not the enforced by security. But mostly gets enforced when users get the freedom to choose.
With Android or with Linux?
Not really. Linux is securable. Clearly not every distro comes with security as their first priority. But there is distros, which handle it as their first priority.
So when you prefer security then go with a more security-focused distro.
Does the Graphene Project develop their own fimware for devices?
I thought, that they use the propriatary firmware from the hardware manufacturer and simply build the OS on top.
What I prefer more with a Linux mobile aproach is that the whole software developmentplatform is independent from iOS and Android.
Means all compatibility issues are part of a completly free ecosystem. While whatever apk that runs on Graphene is still mainly built for Googles Android in mind. And as long as developers need to build on Android, Google has influence on the abilities of apps.
With Linux app development has more real freedom from surveillance companies.
Similarly with Browsers. I still use Brave. But in general I am more happy to use Firefox based Browsers instead of Chromium based, since with chromium Google has still leverage.
While on a completly free development platform, Googles needs are not handled with any priority. With chromium and AOSP, Googles goals are still the main drivers of those projects. Not user freedom. And this will never change.
