The key difference seems to be with just a WOT filter the torrents you post are still publicly visible on nostr relays vs on the forum they are private and only viewable by other forum members.
Both setups have their use.

I was kind of doing something like that. I was adding a WOT bit where you can use a Npub and turn it on a "wot only" mode that will only ingest torrents from whatever follows that Npub has. The indexer has an nsec and at least part of the idea was that you can trust other indexers and indexers can also publish lists of curated torrents.

If you are playing around with torrents on nostr and want a way to share torrents with a smaller group of people it is possible to enable torrents in your Nowhere forum. The torrent events you publish will only be viewable by members of the forum and the forum will only show torrents from people who posted them to that forum.
That way a small community can curate the content they want to share without just seeing any torrents that get spammed to relays.
