i’m learning we are situated in an unusual spot here. the ground is not terribly wet, but it definitely was in the past. the black willows here are 60 feet tall, and have trunks 3ft + across. that isn’t terribly common. the wikipedia entry shows the average black willow which is more shrub-ish. but we border wetlands, so they definitely have roots down to the water table.
blah blah blah, anyway, the point is, ive always noticed when walking under them, it’s unusually cool under them. like more than just shade cool. its weird. wondered if it had something to do with evaporation, as thats the only thing i know which pulls heat out of the air naturally. so, i threw a bunch of hypotheticals at AI, and it came back with:
the trees must be pretty old.
black willows that size can pull a couple hundred liters of water out of the ground per day, and evaporate the water into the air around it, creating a humidity bubble. but also acting like a giant refrigeration pump, keeping the air around the tree cooler, using the evaporation effect.

What's funny is several members of my group are board members at the Makerspace. I ask them to use their weight and they're all convinced that the central leadership doesn't like them. Yeah, it's a friend of mine who i inadvertently wound up by simply stating "you know, I don't hate Trump." I clarified that I'm not some fan, but I don't hate him like many people in my region do. The Jellyfin app on roku is nice. The hardware was literally just a Jellyfin player to me. The number of ads I see and clicks to get Jellyfin launched are my primary metrics for hardware quality. Both have gotten worse since purchase with 2 obvious step change "updates" in the last month or so.
I have an n150 and flirc remote, just haven't done the work. It wasn't worth it for 3 clicks and 1 ad. 7 clicks and 20 ads or whatever it is up to is worth it.
