The Coldcard incident made me go back and relearn a few things. In a way, that’s a good thing. We all need reminders like this from time to time.
When it comes to Bitcoin security, I think the fundamentals are still pretty simple: generate your seed properly using strong, independent entropy - dice, coin flips, or something like SeedSigner - and keep that seed completely secret.
If you’re generating it yourself, do it offline. Don’t use a device connected to Wi-Fi or the internet. Make secure backups and store them in separate locations.
The bigger lesson for me is don’t trust, verify. We shouldn’t blindly assume a device is generating our entropy correctly just because it’s a popular hardware wallet.
Multisig can make a lot of sense when you’re securing significant amounts of Bitcoin, but it also introduces more complexity and more things to get wrong.
Ultimately, the right setup depends on your situation and how much Bitcoin you’re protecting.
Sometimes the best security is simply getting the fundamentals right.

Yeah it's huge for mental health
I am in my 40s now so I am guessing it will be harder to break through. But I am sure I can. Just need to be consistent. It's so good for my mental health. Plan to keep it up even if it's super short some days.
The Cognitive Dissonance of BIP-110ers/Knots HODLer is astounding.
They complain about Spam on Bitcoin but then they want DNS built on top of Bitcon.
They want Bitcoin to be money but they don’t want to spend it.
They want to end the state but soyjak over the Bitcoin strategic reserve.
They hate Banks but get excited every time Saylor announces another Bitcoin purchase.
They want privacy but use the one node implementation that disables it.
They want low fees but they don’t want big blocks, or to pay miners.
It’s so frustrating about what these people believe.

Kinda hard to seperate money and state when the future of the network is decided by 5 mining pools that are subject to the state instead of 17,000 node runners who could care less about the state. I thought this aloe was dead after I left it out overnight in the spring. Alberta isn't their climate 😅 All the limbs turned brown and withered. I left it out on the deck, in a corner to deal with later.
I went today to use that pot for another task, and it's showing signs of life. A new shoot from the main plant, and a new pup 👀
