The Iran shock is not some distant headline. If energy flows through the Strait of Hormuz, stay squeezed: ordinary people get hit first through fuel, food, inflation, and higher borrowing costs.
Gary Stevenson's bigger point matters: in a crisis, asset owners are cushioned because they own the things the world still needs. Most people do not. That is why every shock becomes another upward wealth transfer.
At a personal level, resilience matters: cut debt where you can, build cash reserves if possible, reduce dependence on fragile systems, and think seriously about food, energy and financial self-reliance. But the deeper fix is political, not just personal. A society cannot keep socialising losses while privatising the upside.

Bro, it started raining while I was making it 💀.
I was trying a new recipe today.
Day 1: make huge biga. 1000g flour 00 (Caputo nuvola or chef) 450ml water. 1g yeast.
Shake it like crazy till it has some weird structure. Put in fridge 24h.
Next day take the biga, cut it on smaller pieces, add 230ml water and 0.3g yeast. Mix it, kned it (via machine or by hand). Fold and kned it until it's smooth by hand then. Wait 20 min. Cut to 6 pieces (265-285g)
Back to the fridge. Another 12-24h later take them out 2-4 hours before you bake them.
I like the recipe. I used other poolish and biga recipes before. Also good.

My clients aren't the ones causing the biggest problems. I have very slow Internet and low bandwidth, so I am unusually efficient. That's why my clients aren't as fast. It's a trade-off: bandwidth for compute.
I'm really enjoying my newfound powers for the time being, and applying it to some basic analysis tools in my current work. In a bit more time I think I might be hirable as a viber, but such thoughts could be early onset AI psychosis... hard to be sure. I fully admit I understand very little of the details of what it's doing behind the scenes, but maybe little by little one does get some understanding. Time will tell, I guess.
How are you choosing between image views (full or low res)? Are you doing compression client-side?
This looks like a genuine step in the right direction.
The Home Office says non-crime hate incidents are being scrapped, lawful free speech should not be recorded, and police time should be redirected toward real crime. The review still leaves Room for safeguarding and serious community tensions, so this is a reset, not a free-for-all.
The real question now is whether forces on the ground will actually follow through.

New users expect humor, culture, aesthetics, entertainment, commentary, and niche interests. Too often they land in a feed dominated by Bitcoin, Nostr, builders, and insider topics. Protocol is not content.

Humans like clear deadlines. "this time I work" "this time I do not work - don't call me I'm done". Most people find it easier to use timing as a deadline rather than productivity because that line is clear and guaranteed.
Clients mostly use the nostr.band API, which does some compression.
My aitherboard client compressing again, after that, and I only render a blurred hash in the feed. You have to click to see it sharp. I do that with all images. I can integrate more of that into Imwald.

I appreciate that you are able to joke about meat consumption and that your kitty eats meat.
You'd think, but in their work that's idea does not hold at all. Their deliverables have consistent timelines and communications cooperation is required, they tried async a few times across the years, turns out most employees preferred to stay in sync to get their timelines met.

The true message of Demon Haunted World. If it is science we can all work on the problems and make the world a better place. If it is demons all you can do is obey someone who tells you which side is good and which is evil.
Even as a non believer I can see that the parable of the golden calf will be true here. By hitching the church to a political party they take on risk. When people feel wronged by the party they will feel wronged by their church. If they feel wronged enough to leave, that damages the church. So, because they worshipped a false idol they get hurt.
It's up loaders, or uploading UX. Hell Id think id be willing to offer a compression API, but I know that already exists.
How do most people upload images (and espeically pfps) on nostr nowdays? Through clients? Or through the hoster's portal?
