I haven't looked at the requests, but usually cache is already defined by the hosting server. You should be able to cache as much as you want, most uploads have unique IDs so if a user changes their pfp they usually upload a new image not reuse an old url id imagine. So it's really about cleaning up storage.
Anyway for browser clients, the http headers and browser should be doing enough caching already. That is unless nostr.build doesn't set cache headers, will check momentarily.
I'm poor as a church mouse, but I married someone who isn't and he keeps me in rooftop terraces.
No, but I bet those folks knew how to party.
Let me just see how the Twitter is doing……oh…… https://image.nostr.build/0c49628352c870574cc74e80fa290a41b85815911d5736233e78ce9db286f3db.jpg
So it's not actually the blurred image its just a random hash (or hash of the url or something?)
I've thought about caching PfPs. Then they only get downloaded once per npub. Just have to invalidate the cache, regularly.

It applies to normal images, not pfps. The blur hash is a string that renders until the image is clicked. On click, I load it in the media viewer.
An experience on backends and/or with databases? Honestly if you have backend/api experience that's probably enough. They uses DBaaS like convex so it's all SDK/api based. Youd just be expected to be confident and motivated to learn how to make full stack stuff.
Maybe it's only broken on mobile.
All hail the mighty dough!

nostr, build reported like TBs of data transfer of just PFPs... That's a shit load of bandwidth costs no optimized hosting provider could reasonable afford to pass on to users. Nothing competes with big-tech prices XD
Hmm. I have a over a decade of experience in IT support, and have been learning to vibe for the last year or so. This sounds very interesting.
I need to build a real portfolio, but here are some projects I've made in the last year.

How does that work? Like my pfp is just a url, are you using making HEAD requests or something?
Oof. I was using Wisp on the terrace, away from the WiFi, and it ate through 2GB in an hour.
Okay, that is a problem. Let me see what I can tweak.

My clients aren't the ones causing the biggest problems. I have very slow Internet and low bandwidth, so I am unusually efficient. That's why my clients aren't as fast. It's a trade-off: bandwidth for compute.
I'm really enjoying my newfound powers for the time being, and applying it to some basic analysis tools in my current work. In a bit more time I think I might be hirable as a viber, but such thoughts could be early onset AI psychosis... hard to be sure. I fully admit I understand very little of the details of what it's doing behind the scenes, but maybe little by little one does get some understanding. Time will tell, I guess.

How are you choosing between image views (full or low res)? Are you doing compression client-side?
Nostr does not just have an onboarding problem. It has a content mix problem.
New users expect humor, culture, aesthetics, entertainment, commentary, and niche interests. Too often they land in a feed dominated by Bitcoin, Nostr, builders, and insider topics. Protocol is not content.

“First off, don’t let the force of the impression carry you away. Say to it, ‘hold up a bit and let me see who you are and where you are from—let me put you to the test’ . . .”

Humans like clear deadlines. "this time I work" "this time I do not work - don't call me I'm done". Most people find it easier to use timing as a deadline rather than productivity because that line is clear and guaranteed.
Clients mostly use the nostr.band API, which does some compression.
My aitherboard client compressing again, after that, and I only render a blurred hash in the feed. You have to click to see it sharp. I do that with all images. I can integrate more of that into Imwald.

I appreciate that you are able to joke about meat consumption and that your kitty eats meat.
You'd think, but in their work that's idea does not hold at all. Their deliverables have consistent timelines and communications cooperation is required, they tried async a few times across the years, turns out most employees preferred to stay in sync to get their timelines met.
I don't think owning guns is forbidden. Using them on the other hand...
I thought you didn't like seeing ads on Nostr 🤔😅
I understand the urge to want to help people, but fiddling with the market price of oil is the wrong place. Would probably better to lower the taxes on foodstuffs, by 1% or so. Or lower income taxes.
Monk fruit extract is alright, but you need a ton to get the same sweetness. Stevia is super gross to me though
That crust looks absolutely perfect 👌
Recipe??
The true message of Demon Haunted World. If it is science we can all work on the problems and make the world a better place. If it is demons all you can do is obey someone who tells you which side is good and which is evil.
Even as a non believer I can see that the parable of the golden calf will be true here. By hitching the church to a political party they take on risk. When people feel wronged by the party they will feel wronged by their church. If they feel wronged enough to leave, that damages the church. So, because they worshipped a false idol they get hurt.
It's up loaders, or uploading UX. Hell Id think id be willing to offer a compression API, but I know that already exists.
How do most people upload images (and espeically pfps) on nostr nowdays? Through clients? Or through the hoster's portal?
