You hard boil them(I prefer the pressure cooker) and then put them in a vinegar and seasoning brine. There are a million recipes. Here is my basic one. 1. quart vinegar

From my understanding it allows them to mint fungible tokens on bitcoin in a 'less' data heavy way as compared to the brc20 crap.
So the rune transaction is just creating some OTHER token I do believe.
