short answer is i am one of the people that believes a robust fee market is not a bad thing. the sub 1 sat per v byte thing is a bigger problem than spam imho. Satoshi wrote "in 20 years time there will be either very large transaction volume or no volume". so for me a robust fee market of 5 sats per v byte to 50 price would be ideal. Ironically enough a robust fee market would indicate that people are using as bitcoin as money which i think is one of your stated goals. truth be told i believe that spam will price itself on its own without knots or whatever.
the longer answer is that if you want to remove spam the only way i see it is to price it out. so the question, for me at least, becomes; should we remove the segwit discount? that would surely increase the fee market. but it would also be a defacto block size decrease and i am not sure if that is feasible at this point and it would certainly disincentivize spam. if knots and 110 proposed breaking current consensus doing away with segwit and taproot then that would be a compelling solution that would likely remove spam for the most part permanently. the tradeoffs of course is that lightning would be kneecapped (im not sold that is necessarily a bad thing as it seems lightning in many respects has been captured by the large corporations). as im not a programmer if i wanted to rid the blockchain of spam i would beat the drums for a reduction of segwit and taproot but im not 100% convinced that is a good idea (its also odd to me that such ideas are rejected by the people advocating for rdts... if spam is such a problem and you need to change consensus then why not remove the features that would actually solve the problem you are so worried about?). removing segwit and taproot would also cause a lot of reduction in blockspace to the point where it is an impractical move. adding more rules and complicating things is putting the cart before the horse. furthermore, i think what makes bitcoin special is its difficulty to change. in a decentralized system nobody is going to get everything they want, thats the beauty of bitcoin. if it was easy to change because a small, vocal minority wanted a thing to be changed then that would be a real problem and not something id feel comfortable building my future upon. that is my real problem with knots/110.

I zapped you via Nostr. Amazing isn't it?
Oh for fuck’s sake, please tell me they didn’t give it to her on a fucking ColdCard.
I love inspiring lunacy.
And yeah, that’s basically what I meant. It’s been known forever in direct response that more polished doesn’t necessarily mean more persuasive.
Many times, the simple website or the video where someone just pulls out their phone and says the thing works better because it feels real. It feels like talking to a friend, and that genuineness builds trust in you and what you’re saying.
Same principle Gary Halbert used with direct mail. His letters didn’t read like polished marketing pieces; they looked and read like a letter from a friend to a friend. Direct, personal, human.
TikTok even explicitly recommends native, not-overly-polished creative for basically the same reason.
Obviously, it depends on the niche, but most people don’t walk around with a DSLR in their pocket. They experience and document their lives through their phones.
So getting closer to capturing what you actually saw is a pretty interesting idea, especially if something like that eventually becomes ubiquitous.
Either way, a cybernetic third eye sounds very cool. I’m intrigued.

Keep your clanker on standby to help you fix it
Thats the idea, however when you install tailscale it adds some things to your host firewall. In the container it might mess up the autoconfig you spend forever troubleshooting. Trying to figure out how things route tailnet->docker network->host becomes awful

You would need to delete and regenerate the macaroons.db file, and then you would need to re-pair any app that’s currently using a macaroon. Are you on Signal, I can invite you to the Nodestrich group if you need some direct help.

Not gonna lie this how I homestead 😂
Post-colonial immigrants can feel the extraction machine in their bones.
https://blossom.yakihonne.com/4a4b8541c8906e1162e5884ecebf0872aa3bb32c61264c4678d4db626f240235.jpeg
They have seen this architecture before.
Different flag.
Different accent.
Different paperwork.
But the mechanism is familiar:
turn the family into labour,
turn the labour into debt,
turn the debt into obedience,
then call the arrangement opportunity.
The first generation survives the old system.
The second crosses oceans believing their children have escaped it.
Then slowly they discover the new altar.
Mortgage.
Credentials.
Corporate conformity.
Permanent consumption.
A lifetime of payments for permission to remain inside the perimeter.
And standing at the centre of it all is the question every parent eventually faces:
What exactly am I placing my children on this altar for?
A better salary?
A safer postcode?
A respectable title inside somebody else’s machine?
Post-colonial memory makes this question difficult to suppress.
Because extraction does not always arrive wearing the uniform of an empire.
Sometimes it arrives with excellent branding, convenient financing and a thirty-year contract.
The empire learned something.
You do not need to conquer the next generation.
You only need their parents to believe submission is security.

Just did delete the macaroon but I didn't need to re-pair anything, it did automatically on Umbrel (in BTC Pay the only option is "use internal node" so nothing to change). RTL works as well without change.

The immigration argument is often discussed backwards.
https://blossom.yakihonne.com/b116ba3a4a19465edcbb305f8689f1d8d3f974e8994c782a8e4fc9be0c521252.jpeg
Much of the developed world is already deep into the third generation of its institutions:
the machine is inherited,
the procedures are normalized,
and the people inside increasingly mistake the system for reality itself.
Then an outsider arrives.
Not because immigrants are inherently smarter.
Because many of the people who successfully cross borders have already been selected by adversity.
They learned how to operate without the approved path.
They learned how bureaucracy actually behaves when it stops working.
They learned the difference between a rule and reality.
They learned to improvise when institutions could not save them.
Then they enter a mature developed-world system and immediately see things insiders have stopped seeing.
Waste.
Gatekeeping.
Rent extraction.
Credential theatre.
Artificial scarcity.
Rules whose original purpose disappeared two generations ago.
That creates friction.
The insider sees the institution and thinks:
This is how things are done.
The outsider asks:
Why are you doing it this way at all?
That question is profoundly destabilizing to a third-generation institution.
Because the immigrant may understand both worlds:
the system from the inside,
and life outside its perimeter.
The real immigration tension is therefore not simply cultural.
It can also be institutional.
A mature system wants assimilation.
But the most valuable outsider is valuable precisely because they have not yet forgotten how to think outside the machine.
The third generation forgets what the machine was for.
The outsider still remembers that the machine is only a machine.
