I was trying a new recipe today.
Day 1: make huge biga. 1000g flour 00 (Caputo nuvola or chef) 450ml water. 1g yeast.
Shake it like crazy till it has some weird structure. Put in fridge 24h.
Next day take the biga, cut it on smaller pieces, add 230ml water and 0.3g yeast. Mix it, kned it (via machine or by hand). Fold and kned it until it's smooth by hand then. Wait 20 min. Cut to 6 pieces (265-285g)
Back to the fridge. Another 12-24h later take them out 2-4 hours before you bake them.
I like the recipe. I used other poolish and biga recipes before. Also good.
How does that work? Like my pfp is just a url, are you using making HEAD requests or something?
Oof. I was using Wisp on the terrace, away from the WiFi, and it ate through 2GB in an hour.

Nostr does not just have an onboarding problem. It has a content mix problem.
New users expect humor, culture, aesthetics, entertainment, commentary, and niche interests. Too often they land in a feed dominated by Bitcoin, Nostr, builders, and insider topics. Protocol is not content.
Clients mostly use the nostr.band API, which does some compression.
My aitherboard client compressing again, after that, and I only render a blurred hash in the feed. You have to click to see it sharp. I do that with all images. I can integrate more of that into Imwald.

It's up loaders, or uploading UX. Hell Id think id be willing to offer a compression API, but I know that already exists.
How do most people upload images (and espeically pfps) on nostr nowdays? Through clients? Or through the hoster's portal?

Mine is 88 KB, but I could try compressing the next one, harder. They eventually get a bit blurry.
I guess. But IMHO the best work gets done by capable individuals in their most alert and refreshed state. If that’s not consistent with 9-5 in a specific time zone, so be it.
I'm going to experiment with cocoa, but really I think what I like is just sugar 😅
I used to love Hershey's products, at least I've matured to liking better chocolate like Tony's. I've had healthy cocoa type products before and they kind of taste bad to me. I'll keep trying though

The data problem still exists. You either have worse UX by not displaying it at all or slower than scolling. GBs of cache storage on devices caching them, slow loading and bandwidth costs if you do neither. Literally everyone benefits from optimized images.
Personally I have large images (over 150k) blocked with uBlock and im sure you're not surprised if i tell you that happens pretty often.

GM. Finally a decent night sleep. Hot and sunny day put me to bed early.
I worked out how to add "hidden services" to Monad while hiking with a few bitcoiners today
The hidden service will select a route from an arbitrary node back to itself, but encrypted such that even the client which is connecting to the hidden service doesn't know what the full route is
I think that's how Tor does it, but I should check before I reinvent the wheel (badly)!
