I agree 100%. The files are a red herring. It’s all videos.
No one would

Burn a few sats, and attach proof-of-burn to each Nostr event in order to discourage spam
@nprofile…7976 was working on making this very efficient, combining large numbers of proofs into a Merkel tree
Ich wette jeder der da sitzt erhält noch eine vorzügliche Aufwandsentschädigung. Von daher kommt für einige was dabei rum.

I agree lots of things are bad now. But that's why we have smart folks like all of you working on freedom tech, and everyone is learning and moving quickly!
What do you mean by "not trying to fool users into thinking that zaps can ever be private"
(My question isn't about whether zaps are on or off the chain; it's a general question about "zaps")
Essentially by definition, a zap is a public announcement that A has sent X sats to B
Maybe you're saying something like this: "Given the constraint that the above announcement will be public, we want to optimize everything else (privacy, ease of use [especially for noobs], ...)"

Event hashing + open timestamps and you already got it.
The holy grail 👑
I dunno if it'll ever happen. I feel like it'll be more like the hot key on a lightning node. Or custodial nsecs, as crazy as it sounds, run on Uncle Jim style remote signers.
Good morning ✌️🧡
Lots of ideas are bad when you only have one lens to view them through. Implementing a technology though one lens can be catastrophic and should never be replicated. Change how you view it, thereby changing how you use it, and it can be revolutionary.
For example, using money to build a lifestyle based on rigged gambling, polyamory, shitcoins, and methamphetamines vs a lifestyle based on literally anything else. Looking at you Bankman Fraud.

As the "Bitcoin is Time" guy I'm all for a reliable source of time, but I'm very much against strongly tying identity to onchain transactions irreversibly.
I trust that you've read my lengthy argument against and that you will end up doing the right thing. https://dergigi.com/2026/05/20/careful-icarus/

📰 **Bitcoin Pizza Day: The $1.2 Billion Meal That Remade Money**
✍️ by NM team
A $41 pizza order in 2010 morphed into the most expensive lunch in human history. That single transaction now haunts markets and defines the very soul of Bitcoin. This is not just a quirky origin story, it is a brutal lesson in vision, patience, and the punishing pace of digital scarcity.

Thanks, you too. Had some bacon with my omelette yesterday. 💪
I don't know where this would be useful. Maybe on .onion relays, but that creates other risks there.

Now that it's a thing, it cannot be made not a thing.
All the more reason not to plug your nsec into apps. Remote signing is inconvenient for devs sure, and that's what makes it secure. Devs can't fuck with your nsec if they never have access to it.
But for dust and small amounts, I don't think the risk is that high. Just don't use it as money and you don't become a target.

Fidelity bonds have existed for a long time, and can be useful to show "seriousness". Has nothing to do with humanness of course, since bots can have bitcoin too. https://jamdocs.org/glossary/#f
