Yesterday, I posted on Bitcoin mining lowering power prices for a community in Norway by 20%.
But does Bitcoin mining also help lower electricity prices for consumers in the Global South?
It would appear, the answer is again "yes".
Bitcoin mining company Gridless has already done this in Kenya, Malawi and Zambia. According to CNBC, as a direct result of Bitcoin mining using the otherwise wasted energy from a micro-hydro plant in Kenya:
"the hydro plant dropped the price of power from 35 cents per kilowatt hour to 25 cents per kWh."
That's a 28% price drop.
Even lower than the 20% price drop in Norway.
The price drop isn't always this low. Sometimes its only around 4% (more on that tomorrow). But even that can be significant for struggling families.
And, the story is consistent, across grids and across the world: if you have Bitcoin mining using otherwise wasted renewable electricity, the direct result is that consumers of energy will pay less for their power.

The usual deals are 75% for the company, 5% to the municipality or such and 20% to the general state. And i thought that was theft. But 100% to the company... i was not expecting that
I can think of ways to do it but me as a person talking about it wouldn't help.
You want people with capital (both rela and the financial stuff lol). Client owners could be in booths in a variety of places. Not just bitcoin booths in bitcoin places. Sponsoring YouTube channels, sponsoring competitions, reaching out to people who are bitcoin-friemdly but have actual reach. Off the top of my head that would be Peter McCormack and Jay Dyer, but there are many. Jonathan Pageau etc etc
Me just saying hey I know a place ... And the place is just 24 people saying the price of bitcoin isn't going to change anything.
Remember when that Matthew Taibi or something. Came here and brought 100s of his followers. None of them stayed.
No lessons were learnt.
In fact the problem solidified

Bitcoin is a highly liquid asset, easier to buy, sell, transfer, and hold, while also offering greater potential upside due to its fixed supply and growing global adoption. As more investors compare Bitcoin vs. real estate, the question is whether Bitcoin could begin attracting capital that has traditionally flowed into homes and investment properties.
If investors increasingly view Bitcoin as a superior store of value, some may choose to sell real estate and move that capital into Bitcoin. With home prices already elevated in many markets, a shift in demand away from real estate could potentially contribute to a broader real estate correction. Could Bitcoin eventually demonetize part of the real estate market, putting downward pressure on home prices as capital moves toward a more liquid, scarce digital asset?
