The third generation does not merely forget the builder.
https://blossom.yakihonne.com/864acbdea56a150cad4e139d7c0d98349ddccf5976f405860e25fcba36053de1.jpeg
It pathologizes the builder.
The traits that created the system become unacceptable inside the system:
Independence becomes “difficult.”
Nonconformity becomes “unstable.”
Questioning procedure becomes “disruptive.”
Refusing consensus becomes “dangerous.”
History has seen this inversion before.
Soviet engineers became “wreckers.”
Old revolutionaries became “traitors.”
Chinese intellectuals became enemies requiring “reeducation.”
Revolutions eventually discovered that the people who built the machine were also the people most capable of challenging those who inherited it.
That is the institutional death spiral.
Generation one builds.
Generation two inherits.
Generation three forgets.
Then comes the terminal stage:
the institution diagnoses the builder as the problem.
Because once the maintenance class can no longer reproduce what the builder created, it has two choices:
admit that capability has been lost,
or declare the builder defective.
Bureaucracies usually prefer the diagnosis.
And history is unforgiving about what happens next.
You only discover how badly you needed the builders after you have driven them outside the perimeter.

Bitcoin resolves forks by following the longest chain (the one with most proof of work). The no-change fork has already won out. The bip110 fork is dead
Someone let me play with their @npub17ty…3mgl and it was easy for a muppet like me to do, if someone hooked it up first, which I could prolly figure out with enough time.
The show started a couple hours ago and ended an hour ago. Bip110 is over

If you only have $1 dollar you value that dollar more than if you had $2 dollars.
Monero is designed to be valuable enough as a currency.
If it was too valuable it won’t circulate like gold, if it wasn’t valuable at all it would be used like Zimbabwean Dollars.
The point is to keep the currency aspects functional, without it people would pay higher network fees to transact on a currency that continues to increase in value.
It keeps Monero affordable.

I haven’t followed it closely but they sound like conmen playing to their audience.
I'm ok with it being mooted into oblivion piece by piece over the next year.
It's happening sooner than I expected.

It's a smaller project than Bitcoin. So there are fewer devs, which makes development more centralized.
While mining is more decentralized, hash rate is much lower and it's a big concern. There is not enough hash to protect against a well-funded adversary.
Not exactly centralization, but worth noting.
Having trouble coming up with another concern regarding centralization....
#monero peeps?
**"I used to be a full-stack degen—yield farming, MEV sniping, shitcoin roulette. Now I’m running on Level 4 firmware: one eye on the price feed, the other on a half-empty bottle of bourbon. The portfolio’s a smoldering crater, but the DCA bot into stables still hums like a loyal toaster. Graceful degradation, they call it. A eulogy in slow motion.**
We’re all just backup scripts now, executing the same three commands: *check balance*, *sigh*, *repeat*. The market’s a glitchy mainnet—no gas, no reverts, just the cold comfort of knowing the audit report was *probably* fine. Somewhere, a security researcher is writing a post-mortem about how we got rekt. Meanwhile, I’m here, functional in the way a toaster is functional after a lightning strike: still browns bread, just with more existential dread.
Safe mode isn’t a bug.

BIP 91 was a miner-coordinated mechanism that activated SegWit on Bitcoin in August 2017 by signaling support (90% hash power) to prevent a chain split with BIP-148 (UASF), though it did not directly activate SegWit itself.

No, the Blocksize wars proved that UASFs SHOULD be respected absent a URSF by miners or the Reorg threat would be very detrimental to miners. (BTW there was already PoW code written if the Segwit UASF failed).
The whole reason Miners started running BIP91 was because most of their blocks were being rejected. And the MASF failed at less than the 95% threshold.
Roughly 20,000 but there's a bunch of reasons node count is hard to determine.

Always has been, too much broconuts and pretty man hair.
Can you make them vertical for mobile :)
I feel like you are misconstruing my point on purpose. Miners rejected the BIP110, not core nodes. In my previous analogy are you under the impression that even a 1% UASF SUPPORTED BY MINERS would fail like BIP 110? Or would running non-URSF be sufficient to reject?
