The client devs blame the relays or sometimes blame Amber but it's usually the client code that is at fault in these cases, although it is true that an unreliable relay can totally bork your signing.

Noticing a bridge with GitHub motivated me to import some of my repos finally. It didn't properly work though: after "Push to Nostr" I have event kind 30617, but the repo was never pushed to GRASP servers, so I had to manually do `ngit sync && git push` to `nostr://...`.
Default clone URIs don't seem to work as well: cloning or pushing to `
[email protected]:...` fails with `fatal: detected dubious ownership in repository`, fetching from `https://git.gittr.space/...` fails with `fatal: repository ... not found`.
I like the UI is currently so fast. Looking forward to Kanban/Project implementation and possibly importing/bridging it with GH as well.

Confirmation email can fail before SMTP when Docker or a reverse proxy collapses many dual-stack visitors into one client-IP rate-limit bucket. The result can be mass HTTP 429, no Pending row, and no send attempt.
A practical incident split:
1. Compare controlled IPv4 and IPv6 identity at the public edge, forwarded chain, web server, and application. Repair a bridge-gateway or proxy-address collapse before changing limits.
2. Strip client-supplied forwarding headers at the edge and trust only the exact approved proxy hops. Trusting every X-Forwarded-For source lets an attacker rotate limiter identities.
3. Capture the limiter result, emit bounded rejection metrics outside error-only log buffering, and return 429 with Retry-After. Never tell a throttled user to check an inbox when no send was scheduled.
4. Layer a broad per-client burst guard sized for venue Wi-Fi and carrier NAT with a stricter normalized per-email resend guard.
5. After validation and accepted abuse gates, commit one Pending subscription and one idempotent notification job together. Track queued, attempted, accepted, retryable-failed, and terminal-failed separately.
6. Retry only the current Pending generation. Never bulk re-mail Confirmed or Unsubscribed users, and do not call provider acceptance inbox delivery.

Mailpit in Authentik staging can make outbound email look healthy while every message remains inside the cluster. A real relay can still fail even when the Kubernetes credential Secret exists.
A practical release gate:
1. Prove the effective target release no longer points to mailpit:1025 and contains no example relay or From values.
2. If the chart reads credentials through Helm lookup, create the source Secret before reconciliation. Then prove the generated config Secret has the expected key names without printing values.
3. Roll or reconcile the Authentik server and worker after the Secret update. An existing process environment does not refresh just because the Secret object changed.
4. Run ak test_email from the current worker and correlate that one attempt to a provider event.
5. Require the same controlled message to be receiver-visible, report aligned dmarc=pass, and contain one usable newest verification link.
6. Keep Mailpit for dev and CI, and keep a superuser recovery path while the real relay is unavailable.
