And I was on board for the first two weeks. Then I reevaluated the evidence and changed my course very early on. Many didn't and couldn't muster the courage to admit that. They were guided by fear and raw emotion. I guess you can call it sunk cost, but many people demonstrate an unwillingness to turn back at a certain point. They'll do anything to not admit it. That's the cowardice I see. Pushing forward prevents them from having to admit they were wrong. Some people try to save face by stopping but not really acknowledging that they were wrong. We saw that with many politicians.

we each have a limited worry and stress budget. save it for the real stuff: actual bad things WILL happen to you and people you care about, so don't blow your budget on anxiety about what **could be**. because when you're faced with what **actually is** you won't be able to step up to meet the challenge with your best. an optional, self-inflicted wound added on top of the inevitable circumstances that you cannot control.
I think there's some merit to that. "Useful idiot?"
There are also different forms of cowardice and life or death isn't always the situation (it rarely is).
There's intellectual cowardice, and that's more aligned with what I'm talking about in this note. It's the most destructive form and yes, it generally comes from the smarter people. They're just smart enough to lead people into danger but just dumb enough to do it. The mid wits. The most likely to be cowards when the time comes to face up to being wrong.

It is WAY more effective than any other method I've used. The effective range is longer than a housefly startle distance so your number of misses and fly aways is much lower.

This was partially my point when I asked if Globe lived in the US. I was being facetious, but it's actually true for anyone who doesn't embrace the city life. Which is a lot of people here. And if we're being honest, those big city people wouldn't survive if everyone in the US lived the exact same lifestyle. At least not with how things work right now.

You might need a certain level of intelligence to be a coward. I tend to find stupid people are quite brave. I'm not a philosopher, I'm just saying it's something adjacent to cowardice.
I'm in a similar situation. Plus, it's actually a greater freedom in it's purist form. The problem is that they've slowly taken the freedom of it away over time.

That doesn't mean their reasons for doing so don't come from cowardice.
Just outside of where i'm at doesn't have public transit of any sort. You're 20+ miles from the nearest train station to get you into the city, which you can take a long distance train, to another big city, for which you could take another commuter train, where it's another 20 miles to the destination XD
There is a reason we have cars in the US. Because the fastest route is a straight line

I'm thinking back to the claims that growing the node storage/compute requirements would be okay since data storage and compute technology would get better and cheaper over time. Well... Lol Anyone looking at those components right now probably isn't feeling that vibe.
But maybe they're right long term or in an actually free market. But that isn't the case right now.
