We were told it would not negatively affect the economy and that consumers would not bear additional costs because the carbon tax rebate would offset the burden.
Now, after the Alberta provincial government reached an agreement with the federal government to set the industrial emissions price at $130 per tonne instead of the $170 per tonne applied in other provinces, British Columbia Premier David Eby has stated that the deal is unfair because it gives Alberta an economic advantage through a lower carbon tax.

If a lower carbon tax gives Alberta a competitive advantage, then a higher carbon tax makes industries less competitive.
First, carbon taxes, carbon capture subsidies, and net-zero schemes are a scam, forcefully extracting money out the system and being redistributed to government adjacent companies and NGOs.
Second, it is disappointing and weak that Premier Smith did not take a stronger stance against a carbon tax. Shame on her for bending the knee that easily, for the hope of a pipeline being built. Not even a pipeline going East, but one likely going West.
Third, Premier Eby has effectively acknowledged what everyone has been saying for years, that carbon taxes do in fact, reduce industrial competitiveness by increasing costs. Will he be called a climate change denier now?
