For anyone curious to try the Inkan prototype, here's roughly what's involved in setting up an identity:
1. Get the Inkan Management Utility (a Linux AppImage):

2. Run it on a current Linux system. I've tested it on Ubuntu 24.04 and Tails 7.7.2. Ideally the utility should be run on an airgapped system (I like to use Tails with networking disabled as a proxy for an airgapped machine). Once you open the utility, I suggest using the "Quick identity setup" path for your first identity; it's the most straightforward.
3. The utility will produce the chain of key pairs that make up your identity, a master at the top, one or more intermediates, and a signer at the bottom. Keep the master and intermediate keys safely offline (encrypted on a USB stick or two is fine). The signer keypair you can move to your regular online machine, since that's the key you'll use day-to-day. Once you have the signer's pubkey, send it over to me on Nostr (@npub16xn…6z6l) or to
[email protected] so I can allowlist it at www.inkan.cc. Once you've been allowlisted, go on to step 4.
4. The utility also creates an Ethereum transaction that registers your identity on-chain. The easiest way to get it broadcast is via a sponsor. They cover the gas and broadcast it for you, so you don't need to hold any ETH yourself. Alternatively, you can sign and pay for it within the utility, then broadcast the signed transaction yourself.
5. Once the transaction has confirmed on Ethereum and your signer pubkey is allowlisted at www.inkan.cc, you're ready to log in. Go to www.inkan.cc, log in with NIP-07 using your signer key, and complete the setup wizard.

I published a new recipe on the website today 🤞🏼
Cold Date Banana Cacao Smoothie
A rich, chilled morning smoothie with deep cacao flavor, soft dates, honey, banana, and a thick creamy texture.
Ingredients
* Just under 1/3 cup water
* Pinch of salt
* 2 dates, chopped
* 1 1/2 tbsp cacao chai mix
* 2 tbsp cacao from Bitcoin Beans
* 2 tsp honey (or more to taste)
* 1 egg yolk (optional: use 2 for extra richness)
* Raw milk (or milk of choice)
* 1 to 1 1/2 bananas
* Optional tablespoon of #hodlbutter
Instructions
1. In a small pot, add the water, pinch of salt, and chopped dates. Heat until the water is very hot and lightly simmering - not aggressively boiling. The goal is simply to soften the dates.
2. Once the dates begin softening, add the cacao chai mix and stir thoroughly.
3. Add the cacao and continue mixing over medium heat until fully dissolved and smooth. You want the mixture thick and chocolatey. Avoid boiling too heavily so the cacao retains its natural qualities.
4. Remove from heat and let cool for 1–2 minutes.
5. While the mixture is still warm, stir in the honey so it melts and disperses evenly.
6. In a blender or NutraBullet, add the egg yolk first.
7. Pour in the warm cacao mixture, then add the milk. Use enough milk to balance the thickness of the cacao mixture, plus a little more depending on how thick you want the smoothie.
8. Add the banana. One large banana works well, though 1 1/2 bananas gives it a thicker smoothie texture.
9. Pulse blend until smooth but still slightly textured.
Serve chilled and enjoy.

The only (massively-blocking) issue is that the book distributor/fulfillment we use has a Shopify integration that we are entirely dependent upon.
The better approach would be to rip that out and just do the order arrangement manually, given that we get so few orders... but i'm hesitant to do that.

I am also a late bloomer in a lot of ways. I think it's nice because in many ways I was able to come to things on my own terms. A lot of folks who got early starts were just doing what they were told in many ways.
The piece of land will give you peace of mind and lower middle class can be a wonderful life. Comparison is a thief of joy but if you want to feel better, you're doing better than me!
