An asymmetrical and decentralized insurgency is nearly impossible to defend against.
I admire the people who are destroying Flock cameras, they are true patriots. I don't think it is going to matter though. The state will put surveillance devices in cop cars and other places where they are more difficult / impossible to destroy. The root issue is the State itself
What’s with all the normies around me harping on about AI data centers dirtying up all the water? Is this the same fud they threw on bitcoiners years ago? If so, where is the lie?
It’s currently the talk of the town around me

I couldn't agree for more. If I may add, it is also our responsibility to filter out the people threatening our peace. ☺️🫂

Can you block people / posts by which client they use?
so my swing trade of buying XXI at 0.6 mNAV and riding it through the Strike acquisition / coming bitcoin bull market really got fucked, huh?🤣
Good luck getting a large portion of humans to agree on changing the protocol, most likely outcome is you fail and the protocol keeps chugging along.
Soccer / “fútbol” would be instantly improved if they just gave a red card to anyone who flops.
I honestly feel like a reason bitcoin is not taken as seriously or seen to be on par with something like gold is because of the retarded protocol debates and potential consensus changes we have in bitcoin. There are no retards in the gold space proposing changes to the gold atom, gold is gold and no one can change its properties. There are no blue haired gold devs or closeted pedos to cause uncertainty as to what gold will look like 50 years from now. Even if nothing changes with bitcoin consensus for years at a time the possibility will always exist, and that is something that does not exist with gold and other commodities. Jack Mallers likes to say that mother nature should decide monetary policy and I actually agree with him, but that isn’t true with bitcoin. Ultimately, humans will continue to decide the monetary policy and that is a risk we have to acknowledge.
Everyone here is dillusional lol
Never changed
I think clients should add a survey into the feeds new people once in a while maybe.
Have a few questions. Eg:
Scale of 1 to 10 are you enjoying nostr.
A couple multiple choices:
What would you like to see more of...
What would you like to see less of...
Leave comment.
Would actually be quite fascinating. And you know might help with why people are leaving.
A little sarcasm but mostly serious. Met this guy out of nowhere and myself and another open minded friend are pretty sure he is keeping tabs on us.
His consulting company works on mineral and water rights in Chile. He talked me through how he helped bring golf to China today in 1988, had a contingent of 6 that came on diplomatic sponsorship by Dan Quayle, lost one of the 6 and he claimed asylum 4 weeks later while trying to cross the border into Canada. He is in his early 60s and has some of the most epic life stories that have lots of ties to spook stuff like playing golf at Augusta many times and working closely with church organizations in the 80s/90s.
On a happy note has no clue about Bitcoin or is insanely good about playing ignorant.
Thoughts from the front lines...
Pretty sure I have the coolest CIA spook keeping tabs on me.
I've always had suspicions but today while having lunch with him pretty sure he worked for the agency.
I've played three rounds of golf with him, went to a college football game, had several coffee hangouts, and lunch.
Any of you had the pleasure of meeting the spook keeping tabs on you?

The $2 trillion private credit market is showing real cracks for the first time.
In Q2, investors requested $15.6 billion in redemptions from private credit funds. That blew past the standard 5% quarterly cap at 10 of the 16 largest BDCs. Average redemption requests hit 10.3% of shares. Blue Owl's OTIC saw requests on 38.1%. Most investors only got partially paid out. New inflows dropped 56%. Fitch expects the pressure to continue for quarters.
The root cause: ~20% of private credit loans went to software companies. AI disruption fears are hammering those valuations and investors want out. BDCs average 26% software exposure vs. 14% for the broader leveraged loan market and 5% for high yield. The most exposed vehicles are getting hit the hardest.
Because these are illiquid loans, not stocks you can sell on an exchange, funds can't easily meet redemptions. This is forcing a secondary market into existence. Tradable, a platform that tokenizes loan ownership, has seen transactions double. Jefferies is quoting Thoma Bravo's Anaplan loans at 91.5-96.5 cents on the dollar. Coupa loans are near par. Not a panic, but a structural shift.
Meanwhile, actual lending has collapsed. US direct lending volumes fell 55% quarter-over-quarter in Q2 to $33.6 billion, lowest since mid-2023. Lenders are sitting on dry powder and refusing to deploy it.
The irony: fundraising is booming. Private credit funds raised $16.25 billion in Q2, highest in two years. Capital is flowing in at the top while trying to escape at the bottom.
Regulators are circling. The FSB warns of deteriorating credit quality and opaque valuation practices. Chatham House says regulators need to get ahead of this before it becomes systemic. The DOL is pushing to open 401k accounts to alternatives like private credit, which could pour retail money into a market already under stress.
This is private credit's first real stress test. The asset class grew from nothing to $2 trillion without ever facing a real credit cycle. Now it is.

At 5,680 feet the sun hits harder.
More UV gets through the thinner atmosphere and grapes respond by growing thicker skins to protect themselves.
Thicker skins means more of everything that makes red wine interesting. More color. More tannin. More of the compounds that give wine depth and texture.
You can't substitute for altitude.

How is this different than ox chat or the chats in wisp?
I want to learn more about this
Are you more of a man that would’ve been at Independence Hall bringing people together and patiently debating and arguing.
OR
Would you consider yourself more of the man with his musket at Lexington Green or Concord at the North Bridge?
OR
Are you someone ho would have been sitting at home waiting to see how things played out?
OR
Would you have been someone who had no idea what’s going on?

There's a huge difference between allowing 3rd party lending/contracts and enforcing them on the base layer. Bitcoin is hard money, lending tools and contracts can be built around it or on top of it without needing to change consensus rules. Hard money that isn't initially created as a debt instrument doesn't need as big of a financial industry built around it as fiat dollars do.
Yes. The fact that the largest sector of the US economy is the financial sector is not a trait that Bitcoin should try to emulate.
Don't forget danish straight and bosphorus for Russia too
Both are solid but here's what makes me like one more than the other:

Removing rules is a hardfork.
That includes scheduled rules like subsidy halvings, and yes, even BIP110.
Rejecting BIP110 is a contentious hardfork attempt.
And unlike softforks, hardforks need consensus to succeed.
There is no consensus on rejecting BIP110.
The hardest surveillance app to quit is whatsapp. The network effect is very strong. So many family and friends groups that it would be hard to abandon.
Still, I'm ready to do it as soon as I can get a decent alternative for private messages and group chat.
It will take a lot of convincing, but I'm autistic enough that I can drag some of my contacts along and ignore the protest of others. Hopefully leading by example.
It would really help if Nostr DMs and group chats worked!
I was about to send this to @nprofile…j5nw and then saw he was the one who reposted it 😂

Chat control is the new game in town in the EUSSR. Many of you here already what it's about so won't waste your time with that, but I will say this; can you see how democracy doesn't matter? What the commission wants, the commission gets; regardless of how you feel about it. Can you also see that ydy was a trial run to gauge how Von Der Führer's subjects will react to that violation of privacy and based on the reaction they will see; they will either double down or press pause.
Can you see where this is going?
Age verification laws + MiCA+ chat control + digital ID + CBDCs + flock cameras + surveillance of your car + carbon credits + energy poverty = serfdom. If this is allowed to stand, a very "sustainable future" lies ahead. 😊
