You can opt out as much as you can opt out from a comment or a dm on nostr.. Or a random crypto airdrop to your bitcoin address.
You can opt out from caring about it however.
That makes sense. Zaps emit as lightning from the Cloud to your client directly. On chain zaps are the same thing but on the base layer Clouds. The other ones come from higher in the atmosphere.
It's your app cacheing the list? Try signing out, restoring, and signing back in maybe.
good night, sweet sleep. I have finished my English homework.

I just love this clip. It's so perfect in every way.
Reminds me, I need to use it, again. 🤣

You might want to knock out the zombies, afterward. If you have so many follows, it probably includes quite a few dead npubs. They make your list too long for some relays and clients, and they swallow the lists.
This app will help you weed the zombies out and gives you a backup step. So, it's good to use it, every few months or so.

Only thing I can think of is it creates a method for sending onchain payments without having to copy/paste an address;
I want to send you an onchain payment, so you could spin up another nostr keypair, send me the pubkey via chat, I'd send the payment, then you could move it elsewhere and there'd be no onchain to tied to your main nostr account.
But then you could just send me a standard bitcoin address and I'd make the payment.
I can't see an upside to tying onchain payments to a nostr social identity beyond making it possible for clients to onboard with instantly available 'zaps', with no set up, albeit with some constraints.
The trouble with constraints, of course, is that you have to explain them to people. So it doesn't simplify anything, really, because we already have to explain or generally make everything clear when setting up an identity on here. I can remember asking you and @TheGrinder erjl9r990q7n9ql0rwh8x8n059ht7a267n0q3qe28wua8q20q0sd how to do everything when I first arrived.
So I suppose it's just another available option, among many. Not really one that I'll want to use, but now it exists, thats that.
Love the general idea, and I'll try to read it all in detail soon
-----
I think the main challenge will be not about deriving the SP code, but more about whether nostr relays are sufficiently reliable that recipients will get the encrypted hint each time
-----
You mention an event sent after the tx confirms. Why wait until the confirmation?
Why not either send it immediately, or with a short random delay to avoid timing-based analysis?
---------
Are there SP(-like) schemes where you can give a little bit of private information to a scanner such that the scanner can find your transactions but scanner can't steal the funds. My goal is to make things very light on the client side, so that semi-trusted scanning services can do the heavy lifting. (I'm asking this out of technical curiously; not because I think it's the right privacy trade-off)

The differentiation for public+small versus private+big makes sense to me, as it's like the difference between throwing some coins into a donation basket and transferring $500 to cover rent.
Money transfers are more privacy-sensitive when they are larger. I think we all naturally sense that.
Your nsec has value that isn't monetary.

The point of my note, and luckily Ricardo caught on, is that I can FUD my own bags, and that I want to make it clear that people shouldn’t just circlejerk each other for having the same beliefs.
Bitcoiners have become a circle jerk cult which leaves many prominent figures too afraid to mention other cryptocurrencies, and technologies.
I don’t ever want to be in a position where my livelihood, and community is based on people circlejerking me because they think I’m circlejerking them.
I am an individual, and I want people to like me as a person, not as a person that feeds their ego.
Additionally, you’re not fighting “The Jew” because Jews aren’t the reason you have, or anyone else has problems in their lives.
People lives are terrible because of their own life decisions, not because of some small disorganized scattered sand tribe.
All the Jews could be gone, and everyone’s lives would still be exactly the same.
Their Jew didn’t swipe your credit card, the Jew didn’t type in pornhub.com on your pc, The Jew didn’t buy The Hawaiian Punch filled with Red 40 you did, you a Gentile/Goyim did, you voluntarily did that.
There are plenty of options like Apple Pay for Debit cards, and credit builders, exercising, tea, kombucha, pre/pro - biotic sodas, etc.
Stop Blaming Other people for your failure in life.
It's already easy to fake zaps. Just have two npubs zapping each other. I do it for testing, between @npub1l5s…gx9z and @npub1m4n…c2jl all the time.
Public zap receipts for non-trivial amounts are overrated. I do think that small-ish public zaps are a strong signal and give people a chance to advertise without pissing everyone off, as they send the ad along with some cash.
To any Americans out there, is there any discussion going on as to the state of things with the amounts of foreign influence going into getting rid of Massie? Just curious. It's quite ridiculous considering he's one of the few politicians who actually seems to have any American values

And a lot of zaps are private zaps, from the start. Some Nostr clients support that.

decouple the events. have it send a nip17 giftwrap dm "sent you a payment". if the payments are faked, or valid, allow the client to publish attestations for the sender/receiver npub like a commerce rating.
Right on! Nothing quite like an awesome dog.
I did this picture of a friend’s dog not too long ago, and I’d be happy to do a picture of Lucie.

Because some of use want to actually use Bitcoin, and not a centralized Bitcoin derivative network.
I doubt you are seeing most zaps. Judging by the difference between what I can see in my threads, when logged in with different npubs. And I test the zap functionality by zapping myself from a different npub I control.
You are missing the people who just "zap" your wallets directly, without a Nostr client intermediary. I do that for anything which isn't a trivial amount. And I have different wallets on my different npubs and yet-another on the Geyser page for the project.
People can add comments to Lightning transfers, so they just put "Loved your article about marriage law! -- Tom" or something, in the description field.
