Money isn't worth a ton to me. The true value is in my relationships and in my ability to perform labor. Even if the bank never gives me my money back they would be ultimately just shooting themselves in the foot, because I'd still walk away with more than what I gave to them. That's why I am very unlikely to ever get a loan of any sort. I don't even like insurance. When you make a commitment to give up a portion of your income over a period of time, you are giving away a lot more than just money. You are giving up a piece of your soul. Now that's scary!

I never said any of those people were blind. Communists can see exactly how shitty the Soviet Union was, and Libertarians can see all the same problems everybody else does clear as day.
These people are 100% rational. Even when someone says something irrational, it's more likely that they are just bad at articulating themselves than anything else. Everybody is also 100% emotional for that matter, including me. Everything I believe about right and wrong is due to my emotions. I would be completely lost without them, as would everybody else.
You say that people start out with their conclusion and then look for evidence to match what they already believe. You say that the problem is that they start out with their conclusion, but I disagree. I believe that the problem is that they look for evidence once they have already come to a conclusion. That is just insecure and silly!
The fact that people get upset and try to engage with people who disagree with them is probably one of the greatest traits of humanity. Even if all they can come up with are shallow insults that don't incorporate anything about whether the person was right or wrong or anything that the other person actually said or did, it's still better than the world where they just pretend the dissenter doesn't exist in the first place.
Useless and unproductive debates are not the result of a lack of evidence or a lack of openmindedness. Useless and unproductive debates are the result of a lack of perspective and a lack of ability to articulate it.

I love the idea of sovereignty and an independent virtual currency a lot, though to be honest I like Monero more than Bitcoin. Don't get me wrong, I've used both as an anonymous currency. It's just that Monero is a more state of the art and privacy focused token
Additionally, I hate any and all moneymaking schemes where the person recieving value isn't also producing it through some sort of labor or service. In fact, I don't even invest my money. I strongly believe that currencies should depreciate in value over time. Not that Monero is much better than Bitcoin in that respect though.
I don't have any inherent beef with banks. I think they are cowardly losers who chained themselves to the federal reserve in order to avoid being destroyed by the federal government, but in my eyes that's really none of my business so long as they hold onto my money and give it back to me when I ask for it.

I mean, education is very different from a career. Not every woman who gets an education is focused on a career, and not every woman who is focused on a career gets an education. Additionally, not every woman who has a relationship or who has kids gets married. I imagine that women who can't afford an education are much more likely not to get married to a guy who knocks them up though.

You are right that they are related, but the relation goes in the opposite direction: knowledge and intelligence are the only produced by wisdom, not the other way around.
Two different people can look at the exact same historical fact and come to completely different conclusions. For example:
The Soviet Union sucked balls
real Communism is awesome
Therefore the Soviet Union was not real Communism
VS
The Soviet Union sucked balls
The Soviet Union was real Communism
Therefore Communism sucks balls
Both of these are valid syllogisms, both of these look at the exact same uncontroversial historical fact, and yet they derive wildly different conclusions. In this case, nobody ACTUALLY gives a shit about the Soviet Union. If these two people were to argue with eachother, the least productive thing they could possibly do is scrape through old Soviet records looking for more and more proof that the Soviet Union was shitty.
The fact is that people almost NEVER disagree on matters of data, math, or logic. Even if they tell you they disagree on one of those things, it's far more likely that they just lack self awareness. Instead, people almost always disagree on methodology, arguments' premises, and the interpretation of any conclusions to be drawn.
Another example: have you noticed that Libertarians will never blame any problems on the a business? They see the same problems everybody else does clear as day, but they will always blame the state for the problem, or they will say that the problem was unavoidable in any circumstance.
Really we were never meant to try and grasp and predict wisdom. Instead, we should strive towards purposeful dialogue with other people, and towards and mai taining an appearance of objective truth. I think that's the most productive truth-seeking course of action in the end.

I actually hate evidence and stories because they require research, and in general I believe it's wrong to assign homework just to talk with someone else, even during an argument. I actually have a strategy to avoid being wrong 100% of the time without having to do research.
The rule is very simple: never argue about real people or events. Always speak in abstract principles so that even if what you say isn't relevant, it's still at least true. There are a great deal of posts that I ignore completely just because they never lead to any kind of higher principle. Oh no! Trump is evil! The Democrats are evil! Our country is falling apart! Look at this man saving a cute kitty from hypothermia! Jesus cured my cancer! Some no-name Youtube just cured 500 people's blindness!
The only reason I even bothered to research your posts is because I wanted to say "woah, that's terrible! People shouldn't be persecuted for speech!" Sorry, I looked it up. According to what I read, the man posted an anti-semitic meme and then got arrested for an unrelated felony stalking warrant. The Jewish Sheriff said that the man "posted the anti-semetic meme and then got arrested", which is technically true, but also clearly intended to trick people into thinking anti-semetic speech is legally dangerous. I agree 100% with your first point. People shouldn't be upset at their emotions themselves, or try to control those emotions. However, all emotions are caused by something. For example, anger is caused by unaccounted for misfortune. Therefore, when someone feels angry, they should always make sure they are lashing out in a way that doesn't make their problems worse, and that might help them to account for future misfortunes.
Anger isn't the only emotion with an element of ignorance though. My guess is you can't figure out why other humans act the way they do. I don't know the specific unexpected actions that people are taking that upset you, but it seems one of your guesses at this point is that other people act the way they do because they are in some kind of extinction cult.
You are completely wrong. The closest thing that humanity currently has to a REAL extinction cult is the anti-natalist movement, and even that is much closer to an echo-chamber than a cult. It hurts me to hear that you hate people, since I like almost everybody and hate almost nobody. Is there anything I can do to help you guess why people might act the way they do? I asked my therapist about it, and apparently hearing voices is actually very abnormal. Although I wanted a second opinion, so I asked the voice and he confirmed that no, my therapist was wrong. Hearing voices is actually perfectly normal and not a sign of an undiagnosed brain tumor. I don't know why the voice keeps bringing up brain tumors so often; it's actually really annoying and even a little creepy.

I dunno, seems reasonable to me. Did you know that sometimes entire lengths of DNA will get duplicated within the same strand? There's even a species of California fern that did this so many times that it has over 50 times as much DNA as a human! And when you look at human DNA you can see the same thing. Our DNA has entire sections that have been duplicated multiple times. You can see all the places where those sections diverged, where one of them had one mutation and the other one had different mutations. And you can see copies of the same sections of DNA in humans and in other animals! Even sections that are active in one species and inactive in the other.
Evolution doesn't NEED to be understandable to us. It doesn't even need to be understandable to itself. We can already use computers to search for bizzare, inhuman tricks for solving problems in games. What kinds of solutions to biological problems could a process with trillions of opportunities find over billions of years? I'm not a Christian, but one Christian argument I think makes a lot of sense is when they say that God has no reason to share his reasoning with us, and that there's no reason to expect that we are even capable of understanding the world in the same way that God does. Why can't we apply the same idea to another omniprescent choosing phenomenon?

It's super fucked up what just happened to me. I was having an imaginary argument in the shower (which I do a lot) but then the other guy's argument struck me at the core of my being. No comeback whatsoever to that devastating observation.
I avoid good experiences from bad things because other people believe that experiences themselves have inherent value. However I allow bad experiences from good things because I personally believe that experiences themselves have no inherent value. Like... isn't that a contradiction? In one case I'm acting based on other people's beliefs, and in the other case I'm acting based on my own beliefs. Shouldn't I just choose one and stick with it? Because at this point it seems like I just hate good experiences and like bad experiences. I refuse to accept that, but it would be really nice to have SOMETHING I could point to showing that's not the case.

Universal high income is trivial to achieve. Simply choose a segment of the population to exclude from your definition of "universal" and then enslave them to work for everyone else. And don't forget to limit birth rates for everybody in order to maintain the status quo. Bam! Universal high income!

Yep Qubes is brilliant. However they desperately need to start writing custom unikernels to improve the performance. Additionally there has GOT to be a way to sandbox the GPU. They need to find something better than all their CPU rendering shenanifans.

I would actually prefer that you dismiss the content of the random quotes I googled. Please. I'm not googling talking points or trying to win an intellectual argument. I'm googling the way people use the term "left wing" and I'm trying to win a semantic argument.
I don't know how a question can be a lie. I just want to know what kind of semantic argument you are interested in having. Are you interested in discussing what arbitrary label applies to whichever historical government? Or are you interested in discussing what it means for a government to be good?

One of my favorite rhetorical techniques is to use multiple negative descriptors to criticize something, and then to complement an alternative, but still keep one of the negative descriptors. Here is a recent paraphrased example: "We should rise above the abstract and meaningless semantic arguments so we can have a more concrete and meaningful semantic argument instead"
I feel like this language trick encourages critical thinking. Just because a descriptor has a bad connotation doesn't mean you should be afraid to use it for something you approve of. Especially if it is one of the cases where the descriptor is accurate and good.

To be clear, I don't give a shit what Socialism or Communism are, I only care how people use the terms. The National Socialsts called themelves Socialists. The Soviet Union called themselves Communists. Most sources I find online say that Communism and Socialism are left-wing economic systems. As I understand it, @npub1v53…wt45 was arguing that left-wing countries have never gone to war, and therefore left wing countries are good. If you now want to butt-into our conversation and argue that left wing countries are good and therefore no country that has gone to war was a left wing country, then the argument is now fully circular.
No offense though, I don't want to assume your beliefs and reasoning are identical to Airport Alcoholic's. If you want to just argue about what social and economic policies a country should adopt then I would gladly rise above the abstract, color-coded tautologies and the meaningless semantic arguments to have a more concrete and meaningful semantic argument with you about what state actions can be considered "good". What do you think?

Don't worry, I figured you were mostly just frustrated and that your insults weren't super serious. Even then, I've mentioned before that one of the biggest reasons I have a Nostr account is so that people can freely insult me. If you have a more concrete criticism I probably want to try and address it somehow. I started following you again recently because I noticed that I had a drafted up reply to you that I never finished.
Anyway, do you think any of those people who knew her know who she is in real life? Would it be possible for you to be productive or make progress even in a world where finding out what happened to Digit was impossible?

I don't think the pentagon knows who Digit is either. Please don't misunderstand. I have zero problem violating people's privacy, my point is just that I CAN'T. Internet anonymity can be stronger than any sort of physical security. That's not because I respect it, it's just how data works.

It's just a place. You can simply walk in there. Maybe you'll be shot before getting very far, but at least there's a path. If someone disappears from the internet and they don't give you a path... That's it. There's nothing you can do, even if you're willing to get banned 5000 times. Even if you're willing to get shot. You didn't lose your chance. You never had it. Digit never gave it to you.

People talk about how important it is to use a person's preferred pronouns, like "he" or "she". However I believe that the most polite and respectful pronoun is "you". If you are going to talk about someone, the best thing you can do is to talk TO them. Plus "you" is gender neutral.
